I agree. All of their live performances are pretty lackluster IMO. Some really cool jams, but the rhythm section isn’t very adventurous so they get kinda stale. Morgan is definitely pitchy, like you said. It’s a shame cause the music itself is great, but the live performances just kinda suck.
I would say they all did a great job. I've seen live footage from 2014 or 2015 and they were not really good. Especially Morgans vocals. Here from 2017 they have done it much better and morgan really did improve his singing. Great performance!
There's an interview from 2013 in Impose Magazine where Morgan Delt explains that he records his albums by himself at home, without concern for a live performance. So that's probably why the live performance is lacking? "I want to [play live] but I’m also a perfectionist control freak. I get discouraged sometimes like, ‘You’re not good enough!’” Delt admits. “I have played a bunch of times with some people and gone through some lineup changes. But even on my own I keep realizing I’ve got a lot of work to do by myself. Because there’s a lot of stuff where I just record something once and I don’t remember what I did or how to play it - there’s a lot of things where there’s two or three guitar parts so I’ve got to figure out how to arrange that down into one guitar part I can play while I sing.”
