    Lyrics
Across a painted desert lies a train of vagabonds
All that's left of what we were, it's what we have become
Once our empires glorious but now the empire's gone
The dead gave us the time to live and now our time is done
Now we are victorious, we've become our slaves
A land of hope and glory, building graveyards for the brave
Have you seen the writing on the wall?
    Have you seen that writing?
Can you see the riders on the storm?
    Can you see them riding?
    Can you see them riding?
Holding on to fury, is that all we ever know?
Ignorance our judge and jury all we've got to show
From Hollywood to Babylon, holy war to kingdom come
On a trail of dust and ashes, when the burning sky is done
A tide of change is coming and that is what you fear
The earthquake is a coming, but you don't want to hear
You're just too blind to see
Have you seen the writing on the wall?
    Have you seen that writing?
Can you see the riders on the storm?
    Can you see them riding?
Can you see them riding, riding next to you?
Have you seen the writing on the wall?
    Have you seen that writing?
Can you see the riders on the storm?
    Can you see them riding?
Have you seen the writing on the wall?
    Have you seen that writing?
Can you see the riders on the storm?
    Can you see them riding?
Can you see them riding, riding next to you?

@@ajruther67 I love when artists still put albums or songs even though they are sick. Think of Freddie Mercury he had AIDS, but still sung like crazy on Innuendo. The story is that for The Show Must Go On, he didn’t think he could do the vocal, but then he took a shot of vodka (I believe it was) and did the vocal in one take.

      Yes !
My man Bruce is still killing it !
This band deserves more credit like the way how they make over dumbass artist they have at the Grammys they should give Iron Maiden the credit they deserve !
It seems like people with the most talent gets thrown under the bus which is B.S.
This is why I love these reactions it's great to see the youngsters digging into the Rock / Metal.

The body has tremendous power to self-heal, especially when the mind does the right things in harmony.
My physio told me my feet and ankles were DONE. I could barely walk or bike by then. He could not help me, just said he felt for me. 3 weeks later I was doing 600m run repeats in about 2 minutes, barefoot, on concrete. 3 months and I (a really big dude) did 18 flat over 5km. Supposed to be shopping for wheelchairs. I used the power of the body to get stronger with (measured) use. Started day 1 with 100m barefoot jogging on the sidewalk. Day 2: 200m. Etc.

Iron Maiden's self released EP came out in 1979 and their debut album came out a year later in 1980. They existed as a band for several years before then. I've noticed that lot of younger listeners don't realize that many of these great bands have 40 and 50 year careers. Or even longer. I think it goes not only to the timeless quality of the music, but also the size and loyalty of their fan base

'Belshazzar's Feast,' is the story of the writing on the wall from chapter five in the Book of Daniel in the Bible. It is also the origin of the everyday phrase about seeing the writing on the wall, meaning a certain event is imminent and should be obvious to an observer. _Our world is dying, corrupt, and needs a reset. "Eddie" their mascot is the new prophet of change._

    • @chrishatcher3233

Definitely strong in the apocalyptical references on this one. The writing we saw around the pentagon was "death, war, plague, famine", clear refence to the four horsemen, who we saw riding motorbikes here.
The name of the song itself is an old testament reference: "A phrase recalling an Old Testament story about Daniel. While a king was holding the Jews captive in the foreign land of Babylon, in the sixth century b.c., a mysterious hand appeared, writing on the wall of the king's palace. The king called upon Daniel, who interpreted it to mean that God intended the king and his kingdom to fall. The king was slain that night."
The phrase has since become a reference to a sign that bad times are coming, and it's too late to do anything about it. The writing is already on the wall, we could have prevented it before now if we had only paid attention to the signs.
Keeping true to Iron Maiden's common themes: Badass historical figures (Alexander the Great), mythology/religion (this song included, Number of the Beast etc), or my favourite theme, look at how messed up Britain's colonial history is (Run to the Hills).

Iron Maiden's first album was released in 1980 (the first version of the band was formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris)
Only Steve Harris and Dave Murray (guitar) from that 1st album r still in Iron Maiden.
Guitarist Adrian Smith joined in 1981... vocalist Bruce Dickinson in 1982... drummer Nicko McBrain in 1983... guitarist Janick Gers replaced Smith in 1990... Adrian Smith came back in 1999 making Maiden a 3 guitar band.
They are the real deal🤘🤘🔥 40 years... no compromise... no faking!

Smith was pretty smart it seems he was the Master mind from the start Diano left on his decision but I don't think they would of got so big without Dickinson. We might still sit around singing Phantom of the Opera.

    • @sumonjamal1653
      @sumonjamal1653 8 місяців тому +1

@@joekidd1057 Adrian Smith was not the 'mastermind'... He is a critical part of Maiden's songwriting - his riffs... his contributions... have been essential.
Smith wanted his band Urchin to be successful even after he rejected an offer to join Iron Maiden in 1979. By late 1980, he finally admitted defeat and accepted the job as guitarist of Iron Maiden after Dennis Stratton was fired.
After Smith left Iron Maiden in 1989, he took time off before returning w/ the band Psycho Motel... but that went nowhere as well. He accepted an invitation to join Bruce Dickinson's solo band in 1997 before rejoining Iron Maiden in 1999.
We can speculate how Iron Maiden would have done if Paul di'Anno had stayed...
      ...but we'll never know.
Just like we'll never know what AC/DC would have sounded like if Bon Scott was still alive.
The very fact that Maiden's Blaze Bayley era was a commercial failure was proof of how essential Bruce Dickinson's vocals and lyrics were to Maiden's success.
Blaze Bayley is a really good vocalist - he just wasn't the right guy for Maiden.

I just want it to be known I was thinking of Steve Harris when I made that statement. I'm almost 50 and I was a little tipsy that night. I have the 1st 4 albums including Live after Death. I have Some where in time on cassette tape so it's always nice to pull this shit out and piss most of the neighbors off. Except for the few that come over and crack open a coldy. Something about vinal just has that old days feeling. Privacy can't b tracked down. Tear up a good old fashion dive bar. Then go tear the next one up.

Yo I'm enjoying seeing a younger gen enjoying the music I grew up with. I have some banger suggestions for ACDC. And you've got another subscriber 👍
(Idk if you knew yet, but they've had 2 major singers)
From the Brian Johnson songs I recommend all the music videos from these absolute boss bangers
    Who made who
    Fly on the wall
    Shake your foundations
    Sink the pink
And "big gun" is a banger too. Idk if it has a music video. It was made for Arnold Schwarzeneggers "Last action hero" movie
From the bon Scott songs I suggest
    Rock and roll damnation
    Gone shootin
    Gimme a bullet
Hell ain't a bad place to be
And since you're doing iron maiden too have you heard Number of the beast yet? Also I had no idea they had a new single so I'm enjoying this first reaction with you!!!

    Late 1970sEdit
The advent of Double J and Countdown fundamentally changed the political economy of Australian popular music, the pub circuit gave rise to a newer generation of tough, uncompromising, adult-oriented rock bands.
One of the most popular Australian groups to emerge in this period was the classic Australian pub rock band Cold Chisel, which formed in Adelaide in 1973 and enjoyed tremendous success in Australia in the late 1970s and early 1980s, although they never managed to break into other countries.
Other popular acts from this transitional period include AC/DC, Skyhooks, Richard Clapton, Ol' 55, Jon English, Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, The Angels, The Sports, Midnight Oil, The Radiators, Australian Crawl, Dragon, Rose Tattoo, Ross Wilson's Mondo Rock, acclaimed soul singers Marcia Hines and Renée Geyer and pioneering Australian punk/new wave acts The Saints (Mk I) and Radio Birdman. The band Sebastian Hardie became known as the first Australian symphonic rock band in the mid-1970s, with the release of their debut Four Moments.
Three "Australian" acts that appeared towards the end of the Second Wave-AC/DC, Little River Band and Split Enz-and lasted into the late 1970s and early 1980s achieved the long sought-after international success that finally took Australasian rock onto the world stage.
