Glad you guys are ok. I did fine over in Sarasota National. Having been thru Superstorm Sandy in NY, which left my home town looking like Ft. Myers does now, I was nervous about this one, but felt safe in the house. Thnx sooo much for sharing your Ian experience with us. We live in Venice too in Plantation Lakes. Much of what I’ve watched of your video was what my hubs n I experienced too except we have 2 cats, used our grill to try to boil water except it ran out of propane!!🙄😳
Loss of power wasn’t enjoyable but when darkness fell we did use two industrial strength battery powered Milwaukee lights that worked out well!! Shutters came down next morning; totally praised the daylight!! Our street was flooded for two days so we were stuck but when the water receded he went out n got ice and propane. Ian was our first bad hurricane and my hubs was surprised that I didn’t totally freak out!! We evacuated to NC for Irma but didn’t need to other than losing power. Thnx again!!🥹

Where we live, it doesn't even look like a hurricane hit. I think being inside and not being able to see because of the shutters is the key. Out of sight, out of mind kind of, ya know? It wasn't even that loud in here. We basically slept through it. 😎Next time (IF) I'll have something to make me coffee!!!! LOL me looking for battery operated coffee makers on Amazon. LOL

Puppy pads. Good for the dogs during Ian and good for soaking up water after Ian breaks a window in the house you rent. I also swear by (no pun intended) a holy card of Archangel Mike in every window in every room to keep you safe from gigunda falling pine trees. Moderate damage, the worst of which is really no more fenced-in backyard for Kimba and Midge and a banged-up laptop. Thrilled that my dogs are not orphans. Lived to see 67th bday on 10/5, albeit still without power, water, Wi-fi, or even mobile service--which I never get near the house (I live on one of the college roads here in S. Venice). T-Mobile came thru for my neighbors but Xfinity Mobile and Verizon (whose towers they rent or some shit like that) did not. I'll be phoning those criminals. Also, with regard to information or assistance, S. Venice is like the bastard child of Sarasota County Emergency Services. More than enough about me. @@annieaviles4760 you’ll not make a mistake by moving here. We’ve been here for a little over 5 years and it’s worth maybe having a scare. You have time to prepare and leave. If it misses you, then you’ve had a good little vacation if you decided to bail. The beaches and the life here is well worth it. Hurricane season is June through November and very seldom do we need to worry. Life is short and beach life is worth it. You’ll not regret it. We’re out today enjoying a festival. You really live like you’re on vacation. Hope this helps!!! ❤️❤️

I can't get why folks leave cars in the driveway with 155 mph winds, when they have two or three car garages!

Some people can’t get more than two cars in the two cars garage. Some garages can’t handle the size of the vehicles. Our truck does not fit in our garage as we know several other people have bigger vehicles. I can honestly say, not one car moved with the wind here. All sitting in the same spot. If the wind is going to be high enough to move the car, I think it would be definitely time to evacuate.

@@trevorandmichele that's a good point. A lot of people's trucks are too long and too high up.
