i'm from SA Tx and South Texas, yes a icon for our community. what amazes me is when our SA's tourist (all color skins) from every corner of america walking the riverwalk or public venue or outdoor festival. when they hear this song and start dancing cause they know it and who it is.
In case y’all didn’t know black people love Selena a lot simply because the love she showed for us she learned are dances mainly all her dancers was black she also played mainly black music and sung them at concerts she also defended her black friend the singer with her against racist fans and kept him with her since 1994 I believe
In places like Texas and Northern California (like Oakland where I grew up) it's very normal for blk and Mexican Americans to grow up in the same neighborhoods as each other so our cultures completely blend so we don't really see differences between one another in these areas. But in Mexico, there's still a lot of racism, from the European damage and mindset that was enforced on the people by their Spanish colonizers. There are many Afro-Mexicans in Mexico, 3 million Blk Mexicans who are still disregarded by many Mexicans because they tend to be ashamed of that part of themselves. My family thankfully had a different outlook because my Grandfather was proud of our African heritage so he taught us it was something to stand on instead of be ashamed of it
I'm a Black woman and I love Selena! She was an amazing artist! She loved Donna Summer and the Jacksons! Look up her song Enomorada De Ti heavily influenced by JJ and she's an excellent New Jack Swing dancer....effortless. And she could moonwalk. Superior vocalist. So much so that her ballads No Me Queda Mas, Como La Flor, and Si Una Vez are some of my faves though they're in Spanish. The versions from this concert are amazing. Good looks, y'all. I'm subscribing.
ua-cam.com/video/JAgRbhpK25g/v-deo.htmlsi=erIlcYDeXwx1kqM9 Here is that video of Selena singing Enamorada De Ti. In the dance break, she is paying tribute to Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation.
She was my idol back in the 90s, I had a lot of Hispanic/Spanish/ Mexican friends when coming up in the sub ❤of southwest Detroit..... I love her to this day!! Rip Angel 😇
I live in Detroit right now. She came to Michigan in the 90s Saginaw. My parents were huge fans of hers. About her all my life she is my favorite artist/performer of all time! seriously. Not only for her talent or beauty but for the person she was, she was the kindest person. Truly loved people. And looked for the good in them ! Fun fact: On her last English album “Dreaming of you” she never got to record this song called “so emotional” in which went to Christina Aguilera! After Selenas Death! Selena was working with same writers! More Selena please “Si Una Vez” live at the astrodome!
I'll never be able to look at any video of hers or about her without tearing up. What happened to her was so senseless and will forever be one of the greatest losses to the musical world and the world at large. She came across as such a genuine person and I have a hard time thinking that fame would have changed that. Beautiful girl, beautiful voice, beautiful performer.
I watched this concert on it's debut on Univision, which our cable carrrier had finally gotten in our rural area. I was like, this lady is going to go worldwide. You could tell. Like the other great performers in the 90s killed by greed, I remember thinking "The human race just can't have nice things.". RIP angelic voice.
She has English songs, "DREAMING OF YOU" & her "Disco Medly", "I could fall in love" are my Favorite". There isn't a single Latino that didn't know who Selena is. She is our white rose & an icon in our community & hearts.
Just wanted to say I'm from Texas and a huge Selena fan but I highly recommend the song "Siempre Hace Frio" and "No Me Queda Mas" the lyrics are REAL!!!!
Bidi Bidi Bom Bom and Si Una Vez are my favorite performances from this concert. But the whole concert is outstanding. Definitely recommend checking out the entire show.
i recall 2 days when school had an emergency assembly to call everyones parent to go home for the day, this being in Austin, TX...first was the Challenger space shuttle exploding on live tv, the second was when news of Selena being shot came out. She was already a massive star in TX.
That’s her husband on guitar. She was truly a wonder. I was a little girl when she passed and I would record every special and concert on my vcr and then danced along. A true entertainer.

I Love Selena, I was born in 98 but my mom, sisters and just in general us Mexicans always speak of her, I grew up watching her life movie sooo many times on Telemundo/Univision. Her death is definitely celebrated as a Holiday, with her music and movie played all day.
Como La Flor from the same live performance is amazing. I grew up in south Texas and my 2nd grade teacher was a huge Selena fan and would tell us stories about her every morning. I loved her ever since. A few years later she was taken from us and it was a very huge thing in Texas. The fact that she’s still celebrated today is proof of how fantastic she was and could’ve been. Long time watcher first time commenting. So happy you guys are reacting to her. ❤
😥❤️🌹She was a very happy-go -lucky girl, & humble to the core. She was always smiling, but her kind & trusting nature, lead to her death😣. She would sign autographs till her hands cramped up, & always made her fans a priority. I remember the day she was killed, was one of the saddest days in our town. I was a kid, but cried for 3 days straight. We lived in the same block that her family home was located in. Her mom was also as kind as they come, but unfortunately we never got to see Selena. The day she was killed, the entire area was eerily silent, aside from the muffled cries we could hear from one another as neighbors. She gave so much back to the community, & was beloved because of her angelic personality & natural beauty & charisma. It's unfair that she was taken so young, at the peak of her career in music & fashion. Plz listen to more of her songs, or watch her movie to learn more about her🙏🏼
My daughters loved Selena...she had done an English song before she passed and it came out after...' Dreaming of You '. Very Nice~! You should listen to Jennifer Holliday sing 'I am Telling You' for the musical...VERY POWERFUL~! Jennifer Hudson did it justice in the movie Dream Girls though~!
Beauty inside and out and all NATURAL. NO autotune and zero plastic surgeries. She was only 21 !😢 If you loved this, check out Linda Ronstadt’s fabulous Mariachi show- “ Songs of My Father” in full costume with world famous Mariachi singers and dancers. Linda has Mexican heritage. “ La Chorreada” is a great one.
“Dreaming of You” was recorded weeks before her death as a crossover to mainstream music and reached #16. Beautiful song , please give it a listen. Thanks for your reaction.
Just found you guys recently. Love the three person format. Speech is the language of the mind and music is the language of the soul. Corey is always plugged in - music hits him right in the feels. I connect with him that way. Great channel!
Her brother was the writer for Selena , he was having trouble writing a song and his dad was after him about a new song, AJ heard Selena kinda humming and singing bits of this song , and he asked what are you singing , she said oh just something in my mind .....HIT
There is a cumbia medley of a bunch of live performances that have been put together that yall should check out. Very cool combo of a sample of some of her songs just to get a little taste. Great performer. You can help to be captivated. Commands your attention. More selena plz
She has alot of good songs mostly Spanish but I'm sure you guys will like them as well...her 2 English songs are good too...check those out after you've done more of her Spanish ones
I mean no disrespect when i say, she is so daym pretty its hard to pay attention to the song!! Just amazing i can't imagine the power of being in her presence!!
Just checked out your reactions. How about a couple of bands that are NOW? Rock and Roll is still alive: Band Maid - "Hate?" live - They have been touring the US since 2016. In 2024 they had a 14 city tour All Venues Sold-Out Lovebites - "Hammer of Wrath" live - They just completed their European Tour and will in the US a little later in the summer. They are Japanese where Rock and Roll is alive and well. Have fun!!!
This and Amor Prohibido were the first songs sung in Spanish that I ever learned in their entirety. Such a tragedy. Her murderer is actually up for parole in March of next year, I hope she doesn't get out.
No autotune, no click or backing tracks just talent. Music presented the way it should be.

😢Broke my heart when she was murdered. Selena will never be forgotten. ❤

She even did her own version of sensitivity from Ralph tresvant. She loved new Jack swing.

Here is that video of Selena singing Enamorada De Ti. In the dance break, she is paying tribute to Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation.
Indeed, she loved Donna Summers and Michael Jackson, and did great impersonation of MJ

Knowing she was betrayed by a person she loved.. has to be one of the most tragic cases ive ever heard! :,( God knows it!
It’s such a shame, she was getting a great career going in music, then that witch shot her. RIP Selena ♥️🌺🌹
Her last performance before she was killed at 23 years old, 16 days before her 24th birthday.🙏🏽
When you was talking saying it sounds a bit Caribbean. The song is cumbia
Just checked out your reactions. How about a couple of bands that are NOW?
Rock and Roll is still alive:
Band Maid - "Hate?" live - They have been touring the US since 2016. In 2024 they had a 14 city tour All Venues Sold-Out
Lovebites - "Hammer of Wrath" live - They just completed their European Tour and will in the US a little later in the summer.
They are Japanese where Rock and Roll is alive and well.
Have fun!!!
Will check them out. Thanks for the suggestions
her last performance 😢
I was in Corpus Christi the day she was shot. The Hotel she was killed in was about 3 blocks away. Corpus was her home and the fans were devastated.
Just stop and think what a choir God got in heaven!
If spanish isnt the love language i dont know what is
🫶🏽🤎💜
This and Amor Prohibido were the first songs sung in Spanish that I ever learned in their entirety. Such a tragedy. Her murderer is actually up for parole in March of next year, I hope she doesn't get out.
Keep her ass locked up!!!!
You cannot react to her if you don't listen to Como la for from this concert. Is her most iconic song and most well known
