That's smart, hadn't thought of that, not that i can use it though. For fellows out there with AIO tanks, I'd stongly recommend getting a turkey baster and having filter floss in the overflow, just stir up the sand(if you have any) and blow off any built up detritus around the rock work with the baster every once in a while and let the overflow pick it up, then just replace the floss and carbon(if you run any) as the very fine particles really do a number on it. Really helps keep nutrients very low in small volume systems. Great video.
As a fellow vet, I like watching your videos because it reminds me so much of the classes we had to listen to but with content that's much more enjoyable. Your diligence and attention to detail have definitely made you're tank what it is and look so amazing.
Yo Travis!!! Just wanted to say thank you for the filter sock and burst mode idea every other day or so or between water changes 👍 Thanks to you and your videos I see nothing but success in my reef, you are definitely an inspiration and thank you for all that you do for us! Peace brother ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Great video and I totally agree with the amount of time you get from syphoning into the filter sock. It allows a hobbiest to get the bottom vacuumed completely. Also it was easy to see how increasing the power heads flow kicks up detritus because the fish went crazy. Excellent video.

That's for the killer info! I am working my way through all of your videos, they have already helped me a ton being new to saltwater. I don't have a sump, I would love to think of a way to use the syphon method on my 135 gal fish only tank. Maybe syphon through a sock into a bucket and replace the water??
I am new to the hobby, did he say that is a plate coral in the front there that he moves around? if so what type is it? I didn't see it for sale on his website.
Hi Mr.Hex! I wanted to know what brand that sump is please. If you told it in a Vid allready im sorry to steal your time! Im upgrading to a 120G Tank and want to reduce the over-all weight, so tank will be glass and sump should be acrylic. Im not really near to the USA but a good friend of mine could get some stuff for me out of the US. Would appreciate your answer! Thanks for taking the time for me. Have a good one!
I noticed you have a Apex controller ..... do you trust it running the whole tank ? I want to get one but am concerned if the power strip goes down i loos the whole tank .
Good video. I agree with this method. But I must say I think its possible to get to 1 million subs in this hobby. Sort of what Coral Fish 12g is doing but combining Fresh water and Saltwater. 2 years ago he was sitting at 40k subs and the past 2 years he's taken off now at like 200k. Keep p the good work I'm enjoying all the content
Amazing looking tank man! I have a question for you,I'm buying a 49G Breeder tank for my next reef tank and its not reef ready and I want too buy the 700gph kit from glass holes and it's going to be a internal overflow and a buddy of mine said he can drill the whole for me since he's drilled many tanks and I trust him, Do you reccomened a internal overflow since it won't ever fail and cause a tank overflow incase of a power outage when I'm at work? Or go with a HOB. Im scared to do a HOB overflow but I'm up for any suggestions/ opinions! Thanks in advance to anybody who replies and please do, I need help.. buying the tank tomorrow 😂
I just quarentine my fish in salt water for 2 weeks and threw my old 120liter aquarium and bought new one new sand new fllter everything I didnt wanna deal eith em
As someone that just has to have sand in my tank seeing all that build-up in your tank knowing you remove it all the time just makes me sick. Not sick enough not to have sand lol but so sick.
But is there an easy way to remove detritus from nano tanks? Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have any small tanks. Maybe nano isn’t the right word, I’m talking 3 to 5 gallons.
Hi there. Just watchin my normal UA-cam stuff and this vid popped up. I have a 55 that needs help. I have very crappy water here. Anyways I subbed to your channel after watchin this vid. Very cool!! Thx
If you would like to purchase corals from the 300 gallon reef checkout fishofhex.com/collections/300-gallon-frags
I appreciate your practical, no nonsense approach. It's refreshing.
Fastly becoming my favourite, another great video, keep it up pal

Cool update. I have the pp-2’s and I run them at the lowest setting in a 7ft tank they are powerful.
How did you create the syphon for the first method?
Great upload Travis. Havent commented for a while, but I'm still lurking. 😉👍🏴🙏💚❤🐠

Hey Travis, love your chanel. Great content! Any tips for trying to implement the siphon piece on an AIO system?
Another great vid hex. May i ask is that plate or helio coral sitting on the glass or mounted on a disc.

What powerheads are you using?
In this video i have Jebaos

Great Tank Travis !! just a question, which modules are you using to control your jebaos? the PP20 and the WP60? Thanks !

Beautiful tank man
Are this the thin floating worms? Because i have them in my AM and are thet dangerous to human?
I noticed you have a Apex controller ..... do you trust it running the whole tank ? I want to get one but am concerned if the power strip goes down i loos the whole tank .
The apex is one of the best investments you can make. I have an entire playlist about them
FishOfHex Aquatics
Cool. I’ll have a look. Thanks

Yeah, but how do you start the siphon if you have the tube in the sock
You use my filter sock holder with tube guide.
I just quarentine my fish in salt water for 2 weeks and threw my old 120liter aquarium and bought new one new sand new fllter everything I didnt wanna deal eith em
Yo that’s sick as fuck the whole surge mode on apex 😳😳😳
As someone that just has to have sand in my tank seeing all that build-up in your tank knowing you remove it all the time just makes me sick. Not sick enough not to have sand lol but so sick.
Your tank looks AWESOME...I say you make it to one mil 😉
By the way, how could anyone put a thumbs down on your video? Haters. LOL. Maybe they were offended because they have a short hose too. 🤣
But is there an easy way to remove detritus from nano tanks? Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have any small tanks. Maybe nano isn’t the right word, I’m talking 3 to 5 gallons.
👀👀👀
👀👀
I think you could hit a million but its not worth selling your soul
Home depot sells bigger hoses😂😂😂
His tank should say Germany not USA they rule that side of the world 😂
