That's smart, hadn't thought of that, not that i can use it though. For fellows out there with AIO tanks, I'd stongly recommend getting a turkey baster and having filter floss in the overflow, just stir up the sand(if you have any) and blow off any built up detritus around the rock work with the baster every once in a while and let the overflow pick it up, then just replace the floss and carbon(if you run any) as the very fine particles really do a number on it. Really helps keep nutrients very low in small volume systems. Great video.

As a fellow vet, I like watching your videos because it reminds me so much of the classes we had to listen to but with content that's much more enjoyable. Your diligence and attention to detail have definitely made you're tank what it is and look so amazing.

Great video and I totally agree with the amount of time you get from syphoning into the filter sock. It allows a hobbiest to get the bottom vacuumed completely. Also it was easy to see how increasing the power heads flow kicks up detritus because the fish went crazy. Excellent video.

That's for the killer info! I am working my way through all of your videos, they have already helped me a ton being new to saltwater. I don't have a sump, I would love to think of a way to use the syphon method on my 135 gal fish only tank. Maybe syphon through a sock into a bucket and replace the water??

Hi Mr.Hex! I wanted to know what brand that sump is please. If you told it in a Vid allready im sorry to steal your time! Im upgrading to a 120G Tank and want to reduce the over-all weight, so tank will be glass and sump should be acrylic. Im not really near to the USA but a good friend of mine could get some stuff for me out of the US. Would appreciate your answer! Thanks for taking the time for me. Have a good one!

Good video. I agree with this method. But I must say I think its possible to get to 1 million subs in this hobby. Sort of what Coral Fish 12g is doing but combining Fresh water and Saltwater. 2 years ago he was sitting at 40k subs and the past 2 years he's taken off now at like 200k. Keep p the good work I'm enjoying all the content

Amazing looking tank man! I have a question for you,I'm buying a 49G Breeder tank for my next reef tank and its not reef ready and I want too buy the 700gph kit from glass holes and it's going to be a internal overflow and a buddy of mine said he can drill the whole for me since he's drilled many tanks and I trust him, Do you reccomened a internal overflow since it won't ever fail and cause a tank overflow incase of a power outage when I'm at work? Or go with a HOB. Im scared to do a HOB overflow but I'm up for any suggestions/ opinions! Thanks in advance to anybody who replies and please do, I need help.. buying the tank tomorrow 😂

But is there an easy way to remove detritus from nano tanks? Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have any small tanks. Maybe nano isn’t the right word, I’m talking 3 to 5 gallons.
