I love your videos they’re really helpful also you sound like jack black which is awesome. Installing my new coils now on my 1976 cb360 I have been having problems with battery charging.
Found another video I needed thank you! Listen to my ignorance...I bought one ignition coil 😑 same place as you too haha now I need to put another order in!
Fantastic. Lol. I know a guy who ordered one spark plug once. The key is once. So glad you found the channel, found it useful, and subbed! A good day for all. Thank you!
Replaced my coils recently on my CB750. I just went ahead and bought new mounting brackets from 4into1 because the old ones were crusty and all the screws were rusty and stripped. It was 15 bucks and it came with all new screws and hardware. Plus I don't have a wire wheel to clean stuff up. I may have to pick one of those up.
The impact driver works if you have the piece on a solid surface (no towel) and you give it a single wack with a heavy hammer (not a bunch of little blows). The mechanism in the driver won’t work otherwise
part of me was waiting for you to pinch the web of your hand between the hammer and the top of the impact, but i am glad you didn't, i would have laughed though. ;)
Brian, great videos. Just wondering if you had plans on a how to wire the coils to the harness video coming up soon? Or have you already recorded one? Thanks, keep them coming.
Wiring up the coils and getting the ignition in is on the upcoming list. Haven’t got to it yet. It gonna be coming up soon. Goal is to have this fired up by the 4th of July.
I need help. I have a 1979 Honda XL75. I'm trying to understand how to hook up the coil. its confusing. so the coil is kind of like the one in the video. I seen it and was confused because the only other coil like that, that I've seen was on a mower. (the "positive" going to the coil is the magnet on the flywheel passing by the coil. and the ground went from the coil to the points. then from points to ground. well the one on mine is like this. but its weird for me because it is like an old car coil. you have an actual positive in from the battery then the ground goes to the points like before. BUT what I don't get is. when the coil has power to it. its charged. and when it gets a ground (the points) it fires the cylinder. well I see the positive IN tab but where's the negative? from the looks of it the main body of the coil itself is the ground. well if that's the case then when its bolted to the frame wouldn't it ALWAYS have a ground and make it spark uncontrollably? thank you for reading and I would really appreciate. I'm still pretty new to this and want to know more. P.S I was thinking about putting an old 6v car coil on it. (I understand them better) but then realized that the rotor (stator, alternator, whatever) is AC output. and the old coil on the bike runs on AC. so you can go straight from rotor to coil with out needing a rectifier. the only time you'd need the rectifier is if you are running headlight, tail light, etc. (to make it road legal) so it would go from rotor to rectifier. rectifier to battery. battery to headlight etc. Was thinking about doing this but it would cost a lot more. because then would need to buy a "new" coil. a rectifier and a battery. and I already need a new rotor (like $80 and only gets more expensive) because the one that was on it basically exploded. (bits on rusted metal from inside it broke off and jammed it and has stuff inside broke, bent, etc. so it needs replaced)
@@KeepOnWrenching I’m trying to find the exact same diagram that’s in the repair manual that came with it, on google (the guy I bought it off of threw it in cause he didn’t need it. It has multiple models like xl/xr 100. xl/xr 80. xl/xr 75) it has wiring diagrams for all those. The one I keep looking at trying figure out IS the right diagram for my bike
Hey Brian, are those coils from Common Motor Collective 5 ohm coils? Therefore a direct replacement for the standard CB/CL 350 coils? Thank you and keep those videos coming!
Using vice grips backwards. Good video it helped me a ton. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much! My coils were stuck, I wouldn't have thought about using clamps I think without you :) It runs like a new moto now with 2 new coils!
Vice grips rule.

Look to your stator coil, regulator and rectifier. That’s your charging system!
Love your cb350 videos. Very helpful.
Great to hear! Glad they are still useful.

Thanks for the tips!
My 68 year old mechanic father buys deep creep by the case. Swears by it.
Good stuff
cool vid. how do you wire this up to the bike? my aftermarket coils are different from stock
You should be able to get the idea from this: ua-cam.com/video/QN8yKUGyoe0/v-deo.html
Get an impact driver and just make sure to use the appropriate size phillips bit (PH3 on my CB450) and don't limp wrist it.
JIS NOT PHILLIPS.
@@KeepOnWrenching That's what people are talking about... Mine says PH3 and grabs fine.

Maybe next time, Marty! You may have jinxed me. Lol

Not familiar with that bike. Wiring diagram available??

did you instal the condenser back on after ?
I did not in this video as I was planning to do an electronic ignition which doesn’t require it
Do these instructions apply the same to a cb100
I think that’s just a single cylinder right? I’m pretty sure it’s pretty similar...not the same tho.

I believe those were from common motor but 4into1 also has them. Direct replacement.
Thank you very much, will order them right away!
Do you recall what size thread screws you grabbed? Seen most of your videos so far, excellent work
I can look for you. I’ll try do so today.
5MMx.80 coarse
@@KeepOnWrenching Excellent, thank you
Can i use a coil from a 82 cm450? The only difference is that its one unit instead of two
I have no clue. Check part numbers. I’d assume not but where there’s a will there’s a way.
buy new bolts, but maybe hex head instead
Not a bad idea! Save someone some trouble in the future!
JIS impacta by vessel ... impact JIS screwdriver would have worked better. Wrong tips on that impact driver.
I’ve since upgraded
I like new parts, I just can't afford them 😂😂
I’m just paranoid! Lol
