@@Eric-bp2hi Crawlspace common, having a trap door in the closet to the crawl space with stairs, uncommon. At least for me. Every house I've lived in with a crawl space or seen you have to access from the outside. Pretty nice to have.

Samuraiguitarist had found the source of the beep but tragically died shortly after from carbon monoxide poisoning
I doubt it, as CO is lighter than air and so if generated in the basement (what from? there's nothing that burns anything down there) would just float up and out all the cracks and crevices, clearing the area fairly quickly. The detector should perhaps be somehwhere up in the house where people usually are, if one if needed at all.
In North America carbon monoxide detectors beep 4 times if carbon monoxide is detected. 3 beeps usually means one of two things: Change the batteries, or buy a new detector altogether. They're only meant to last 5-7 years.

EDIT: To everyone butthurt about me calling a guy with a go pro crazy, I know it's a go pro, and I know what a go pro is. I just find it really funny that he's getting so serious as to use one while hopping into a basement in his own home. Usually people use them while doing some extreme sports shit, so I just think it's funny.

@@banjoarefood898 Nope. That's a foundation crawlspace. If it were livable space, or if he could even stand up fully, then it would be a basement. But with what appears to be a compacted dirt floor (versus, say, a concrete slab) and being only 5 steps deep, that is definitely a crawlspace.

If you're looking at home listings, this would be labeled as a crawl space. If you ask a builder, this is a crawl space. If you're looking for a water heater or furnace to fit down there, it'll have to be one labeled for a crawl space for both size and ventilation reasons.
But I'm just a drafter at a structural engineering firm, so what do I know?
