I have a difficult time while thinking of consciousness, but I think your discussion of people with DID was really intriguing and sort of grounded the discussion to a concrete point that made it easy for me to follow along. Consciousness being fundamental doesn't imply panpsychism, it implies metaphysical idealism. Panpsychism is very much still metaphysically dualist, where physical objects are just as fundamental as consciousness.
