Came here as we're watching her in Paris :) I've become such a fan of Erin, watching her thru the qualifiers until now. Such a powerful, unique climber. Thank you for this great interview!
I've been watching the climbing world cups for 5/6 few years (and have attended a couple). It was so nice to see British representation in Paris. Erin climbed amazing - I know Toby won (and that's amazing too) but Erin's performance was the highlight for me - to appear seemingly out of nowhere (on the adult circuit) and climb like she's been there for years. I find the Women's category more interesting than the men's because I think there's a wider variety of climbing styles (Janja vs Mori etc) and they wear their personalities a little more on their sleeves. Erin seems to be a little taller than average and seems to have some of that Janja-like pure power / grip strength, as well as agility. Really exciting to watch.
I find it interesting that people like Alex Megos and even Adam Ondra now acknowledge that motivation is a huge factor in climbing and if they don't feel like they are having a good day they just take an easy day and come back the next day with more energy.
erin’s story resonates w me so much, its kinda strange hearing it from such an amazing climber. made me think i shouldnt give up after failing at my first nationals lolz
It's really cool that you can relate! I think her/her mom's advice is relevant to anything you try in life, if you don't succeed at least you know you gave it everything you could!
"Slabs used to be a weakness..." Well, as she was the only climber to flash the slab in the olympic finals, I think we can all agree it's not a weakness anymore 😀
Being an OG its refreshing to hear about the lives of talented young competitors in depth . You really do a nice job. And of coarse its not real climbing its too much fun!
McBeast has been Paul McBeaths nickname for a decade, the 6x disc golf world champion. I was hoping to find the rare bouldering disc golf crossover here :D
Haha did you come from the Eddie episode? Unfortunately that's the only disc golf crossover that has happened on the podcast so far! Do let me know if there are any pro climbing disc golfers that you want me to interview ;)
@@ThatsNotRealClimbingPodcast Well you could interview legendary bouldering film maker and Colorado area Route setter Paul Dusatko. 30 years of top level commercial setting experience, and oh yeah, a disc golfer ;)
She just created a UA-cam channel @ErinMcNeiceClimbing so maybe you can ask her there! Otherwise, would recommend joining the free Discord server or joining Patreon to get your questions answered by any upcoming guests :)

Or, or you could bash your fingers against the wall stubbornly trying to figure out why suddenly grades you warm up on feel like projects
One of my favorite climbers. Her climbing style is elegant and effortless.
Chill with the title goddamn, lol
What’s wrong with the title??

Thank you for this. Seems like Erin came out of nowhere to start crushing in the OQS. Impressive final performance in Paris. The future is here. :)
Erin you were amazing, my son just starting climbing and you are an inspiration 😂
