Lockyer was always around and his passes were always perfect. Easier to catch than a cold in a plane.
My favourite picture of all time, Cowboys win the Grand Final, rest of the team celebrating in front of the crowd, Thurston sitting on the ground with his daughter in his lap playing with her doll. THAT'S a legend.

Story goes everyone's trying to figure out a defence to cover him and Fatty Vauntin said put him the line, he's a Queenslander, he'll do his job. On to today, great comeback in the 2nd half. Defense was ferocious. Old school stuff. You got the ball you can run wherever you want to but if you run at me it's gonna hurt.

From the UK and watching rugby league live I have seen Thurston play for Australia when they have toured and in world club challenge vs Leeds when representing the cowboys and Thurston is the greatest player I have seen live in person. When you focus your eyes just on him you see on the field just how intelligent he was. The way he could dictate a game was superb. If he would have been blessed with blistering pace he would have been truly unstoppable.

JT and Locky, the Greatest Halves Pairing I’ve had the privilege of watching since the birth of Origin, Darren Lockyer owned his craft as a stellar Fullback , but his transition to stand-off and becoming one of the greatest in the 6 jersey the game has produced will always hold him in high regard. As for JT, well, the heart of a Lion, consistency and persistence, the will to never give up, has truly cemented his legacy as the Games greatest Half back.

Looking at these highlights you realize so much of JT's brilliance was his constant awareness and being on the ball. From one on one strips, intercepts and not being afraid to get up in the line. He always put his body on the line and got hammered but made so many opportunities from that.

As a kiwi and warriors fan man I used to love watching Thurston and Bowen do their magic and that's what they produced magical plays
JT was very football smart, all heart and instinct. Tough as hell, a smaller man against giants, he would make the giants look silly. Brilliance personified. What a kicker of the Football, general play or goal kicking.

QLD were so unstoppable back in the days. Back in the 2000s and even in the 10s but not so much. They 8 year streak was to good. And even the 3 year one. But this year for the QLD team was something else. I believe they can do better. They just weren't woken up yet. #UpTheMaroons 🔊

JT has always been my favourite player since I started watching NRL when I was 5. It's never been the same when he left and he's been the GOAT and the best player on the field. I remember those good old days with Slater and Thurston they're amazing, I wish we could go back to those NRL days

I'd rather have Thurston or Smith kicking for goal from the sideline, than some of the kickers these days from right in front haha. Those 2 were absolute goal kicking freaks.
