Very ingenious. The sort of fix that's simple once you've seen it but would never think of it yourself. Like all things in life: simple once you know how. Thank you for a very interesting video.
Just wanted to thank you for your fine video. The baking soda tip worked well for me today when I had to deal with a low E (bell extension) post which had become loose. You have a lot of experience to share.
Thanks for your videos always very interesting. I'm not an expert on the subject but these things fascinate me a lot. Curious that differential pressure gauge that you have on your workbench ... what is it for?
Thanks for watching! The device is called The Mag Machine. It's a tool we build that is used for testing leakage/sealing on woodwind instruments. Thanks for asking.
The baking soda trip was interesting. I used a very small piece of plumber Teflon tape when I find the threads are not very good. This tape allows for the difference in the hole diameter. However, I will try the baking soda trick on future posts.
Are the clarinet trill keys supposed to wriggle when you try to move them left and right? It happens mostly on the two longer trill keys. I was just wondering if it was normal; not my clarinet that needs an adjustment. Other than that, all the other keys feel solid.
Posts are available through manufacturers as well as some repair shops. There are different heights of posts and threads may vary. Often blank posts are not drilled or tapped.

Love your videos! Clear, accessible and generous.
Thanks so much! We're working on more...stay tuned.
Thank you for the baking soda tip! I repair pretty much anything, but instrument repair is a first for me (renard artist oboe). :)
The video presentation is great, very useful. Can I use baking soda for plastic pipes? Is there a chemical reaction? thank you?

Most manufacturers will sell these parts but they are instrument and key specific.
Baking soda seems safer than pumice powder!
