This man has gift, he makes me listen to songs I have ignored for years. A true talent, his vocals are sublime and his playing is masterful. I'm in awe
He truly is a great musician, he sang this for my wife and myself for chatting to him and his Dad before his show and it was beautiful. Thank you Daoiri, Sally and Brian on the IOW.
Gotta say, this man has an amazing voice. Not just amazing, but amazingly fitting. Like nature created the man with the sole reason of singing these songs. And with 'these songs' I mean melancholic Irish folk songs.
Best version of the galway shawl I've ever heard played and sang brilliant have listened to it over and over again and love it more each time I hear it
Excellent...great...wonderful...uplifting...fabulous...very best rendition of a lovely song I have ever heard. Thank you Daoiri. Erin agus Alba gu bragh.
How brilliant is that, a song I've known all my life since my dad sung it way back in the '60s. I've heard many sing it but this version surely hits the heart, truly wonderful & I love it !!
The melodic variation of this is sublime, I thought the version by Philip Noone was superb but THIS is another realm, D,F,s Creggan White Hare gets 1,4 million views,,,and this gets 134 views, Has the world gone fuckin mad?Not that D,F,s White Hare isnt superb, I live in New Holland,,I cant swim/run fast enough to keep up with this magnificence, D,F,,,,you must sing in the Mixolydian mode Moreton Bay by the Irish convict poet Frank McNamara
Sublime singing/playing, Farrell sings this partly but not completely in the mixolydian mode, I have never heard T,G,S, sung modally before, Makes me think that all Irish folk songs in Irish and English must once have been written using modal form, The last I know of was Morton Bay written in Australia c,1828 by the Irish convict poet Frank McNamara, He used an old Irish tune, But does anyone know when T,G,S, was written and if the tune preceded it? If so how old? The pentatonic quality of old Irish music must be discussed in the 2 volume work by Aloys Fleischmann on Irish music, I dont have access to this work,,can someone confirm/deny? Prof, Fleischmann was the German Irish Corkman who taught Sean O Riada, Farrell singing T,G,S, reminds me how beautiful universal and profound Irish music us, Our redemption song
The four of us had tickets for his gg in Upwood.
His voice could bring tears to the heads on Easter Island.

This song talks about the innocent first love that a man has for a woman when first finding her.

The uncle of a friend of mine was the first to write it down, but he used tonic-sol-fa notation after hearing an old lady sing it in Co.Derry
Anyone have the chords he’s playing? ☘️🎸
They are on Ultimate Guitar. And very nice too,
What instruments he playing??
Bouzouki
Bouzouki is Greek for constantly out of tune!!
