15 years ago Sydney car scene was awesome. Street meets under the Harbour bridge, street racing and big sound systems. If you had a 1000hp car you where king of the road. 300-500hp was the norm..

Australia have so many variations of cars we see other places in the world. The Holden Commodore is basically an Opel Commodore. Other cars are variations of Opel Omega, some Chevrolets, some Fords. It's just a cool mix. And Aussies love big engines just as much as the Americans.

Why do they have to rain on everyone's parade down there? I understand legalities of street racing and such, its illegal here too but the punishment isn't as severe. Not being able to build street legal car, tire eating roads (that wear down everyones tires) etc. I feel for you guys!

@@JerGol You rego the car in stock condition and then carry out the engine swap etc and drive it illegally, kinda requires a very good friend to pass any future 'rego inspections' to keep the plates legal for police plate scanners. There's no way a corolla with turbo inline 4L 6cyl would ever be complied and engineered in Nanny state whales.
As an American, I'm extremely disappointed in my country when I look at all the amazing engines and chassis we missed out on. Till the 25 year rule at least... I'm also disappointed in it for other reasons, but this is a car channel haha.

What on earth are you talking about? This is just one of those silly myths people make up. Obviously the local councils claiming its some magical anti-burnout technology have fooled a lot of people. Do you really think road engineers give a damn about hooning to the point they would spend time and money developing a road surface to stop it? That road surface is hard wearing and above all else gives better braking performance due to increased grip. You will see it used at intersections everywhere for that purpose.

I want the 5.0 that they put in the Falcons. But I also want a 3.5L Ecoboost swapped. So many options, so little money.

The thing is that there are alot faster Street built barras in Australia floating around, quite a few in w.a are around 1300rwhp+ though this one is a weapon, mines a little over 800rwhp but built for 1100rwhp just needs a bigger turbo for it to happen.
