I’m from a little town called Hudson, Mi. A road down the road from my parents house has a tribute statue to the Potawatomi tribe on squawfield rd. My parents property is plentiful with fruit trees, has a small creek in the woods and we found a bent tree. My boyfriend is from a larger city 45 mins away (Jackson) and it turns out his ancestors were the natives that lived in Hudson. Just to add on to your video in case anyone from around my area sees this comment. ❤
My grandfather is Potawatomi. This makes more sense now because we live in the kalamazoo area in the southern michigan where you described where some of the villages are at. informational video thank you
Very interesting i live in nortern starke county by the kankakee river and my favorite pass time is looking for artifacts. Would love to hear about the northern everglades on your channel
Can you tell me if there was a village called Saquah on the St. Joseph River in either Michigan or Indiana, in 1794? And if so, was that village there in 1787? Was there a village on the St. Joseph River in Indiana, near the confluence of the Elkhart, in those years, and if so, is it named in any sources?
I haven't watched the entire video yet. In my area, Niles, Mi., The Pokagon band of Potawatomi converted to Catholicism, thereby avoiding the "Trail of Tears."
It's hard to find history on Michigan before the 1700s, it's really upsetting in 2024 we still ignore the ethnic cleansing that took place. Thank you for posting this.
