Brotha Thomas Austin (mirror man) do your thang! And from one mirror man (ME! w/Morris Day and The Time from April 2007- February 2015) to another, you've been shining for 5yrs now. Keep shining brotha and much continued success to you.😎
@Patricia Walton Yeeees! And thank you so much for your compliment and reply! When Jerome Benton quit in 2006, I'd already gone to see Morris Day and the Time 9x, getting backstage to promote myself because I'd always dreamed of being with them, while living in Lost Wages (Vegas). April 2007, my 46th birthday weekend while contemplating suicide, I chose life. I went to the concert for a 10th×, got backstage letting mgt know "If anyone wants to take a break, go on vacation or too tired to perform, I'm your man! I know all bass and lead guitar parts, vocals and steps." That's when Jesse (Morris's brother & mgr) said "Yeah Sly. Morris knows you. Give your information to the bodyguard J.B. (James Bryant) and someone will be contacting you." Ms. Walton, I only wanted to perform one show with them, so I could brag to everyone that I got to perform with them. Nevertheless, the Most High would bless me with 8yrs to perform with them! I would use the word 'work' but loving my position with them, I (never ever) saw it as work! Thanks Ms. Walton!😎
@Patricia Walton Wow! Thanks Ms. Walton! Like minds think alike because (no joking) just yesterday I was thinking: "What if Morris gave a show where he showcased all previous members that made up different versions of The Time... especially, his 'mirror men.'?"🤔 I was just Day Dreaming about a reunion like that! But he'd put his energy into the original members coming together, before he'd do his road band or traveling group. Thanks for throwing that out there because I'd already thought about it!😎
I wish I could go back in time about. age13 at Prince The Time, Vanity 6 concert. Little did I know back then what I was really watching! Who knew the impact these people would have or contribute to the music industry. Back then I just thought everybody was cute and pretty, but it goes so much deeper than that!! That story about Prince telling Morris he love him so heart felt. My mother died and didn't even tell me she loved me or never had I ever heard her say that. Life short people never go without trying to make your wrongs right. RIP PRINCE YOU DID GOOD HERE!!!!
Prince saw the essence of Morris and opened a big door for him. Thanks so much for your post. Morris IMHO from a different planet. My mom never told me she loved me either.
@@XoXo475 I never said he played lead guitar. Did you even read the comment? I said he can shred. I saw The Time in Atlanta and towards the end of the show, Jerome picked up the guitar and laid down some nasty blues licks.
@TheDucciano Brah, you must have something better to do with your time. Take up a hobby or something. You have way, and I mean way too much time on your hands.
Morris looks good...folks have to remember these folks in their 60's now. Jerome life done moved on...if Morris want to keep the group going go for it....everything changes...and they still sound good....
Robin Brown You’re right. Time does bring about a change. I guess we all get caught up in nostalgia and want to see original members perform. It really would be good to see Jerome......
Yo soy de Perú, y cada vez que me tomo unas cervezas pongo esta canción, me hace recordar cuando era joven, gracias Morris por lo que nos das, esos años 80', fueron lo máximo. Gracias, gracias, gracias.
God bless you, Morris...you are keeping Prince alive in your music and we can't help thinking of back in the day with two of you and the rest of the cast of Purple Rain....Love you!!!!!
this types of musical groups / icons are a dying breed . they just dont make this type of realness anymore. The time, Prince and countless others from the 70's and 80's are national treasures.
Im 64. Grew up with Morris and the Time.A lot of good memories I did see Prince in concert among many others. Never got to see Morris & The Time in concert. But they still have it.
You are correct, it’s incredible, right? He looks great in person too. About 15 years ago, when Jerome was still in the band, I (among several other women) was picked to dance on stage during their show and I made sure I was next to Morris. 😄
He barely gets a mention but props to little Monte Moir, even though he’s stuck back on keys, he’s one of the original line up and an absolute legend in his own right!
Very true. Never the big showman, but always delivers. Plus; he's an excellent composer. Monte wrote Alexander O'Neal's ”If You Were Here Tonight” and Janet's ”The Pleasure Principle”.
Jellybean Johnson also on them drums he's an original Player he never left. Everytime they've broken up for whatever reasons...Bean has been there to come back and hit themnskins back there keeping that rhythm section on point, true and proper!! Hes also a helluva Guitarist in his own right he and Moir wrote songs for Janet's albums in the past.
47 here, we lived the best! Our generation had it! Love them 4-ever! Tears here.. I take all this as precious in my heart! TYou guys! LOVE PRINCE OF ALWAYS TOO! Love from the Netherlands!😎💜🖤💜🖤

Love Love Love!!! Aww he looked like he got a little choked up there when talking about his last conversation with Prince. 💜
In every interview when they ask him about the last time he talked to Prince he gets choked up.
Prince told Morris that he loved him !..Who wouldn't get "choked up" ?
@Shannon Legg no more me cares.

Has it been that long? I was so lucky to have grown up in the 80s. We ( my friends and I ) wore out that VHS tape. Rock on MD
Yeeess
He really took care of himself and aged gracefully.....awesome!
Morris Day STILL GOT IT. STILL THE COOLEST BROTHER ON EARTH😎😋😘🕶️🎩💜❤️💘💘💙💋💋
Morris Day and the Time are timeless! I bought his book "On Time," and it is an excellent read.
Morris actually started out as a drummer. Oh and by the way, Jerome didn't just hold the mirror, homes can straight shred on the guitar.
Music Power lol Jerome never played lead guitar! That was all Jesse Johnson
@@XoXo475 I never said he played lead guitar. Did you even read the comment? I said he can shred. I saw The Time in Atlanta and towards the end of the show, Jerome picked up the guitar and laid down some nasty blues licks.
Jerome is Terry Lewis younger brother.

Word? After all this time, I never seen or heard this
Damn Morris sure did age well!! I have been in love with him since I was 12 yrs old!

they give me goosebumps.. still to this day! Amazing!
I remember when I would see Jimmy Jam downtown Minneapolis walking with his suit, fedora, and his briefcase. What exciting times.

Lol!,"Meet me in my dressing room" .... :)
Come thru, Marie, LOL!!!
Side Note: The Time is one of the tighest High School bands that ever went rogue! Peace!
No Jam, no Lewis and no Jerome but the band is still nice.
And no Monty Moir, the only Caucasian in the band.
@@lmg1625 Monty was there, the white dude in the back with the grey beard. The one I forgot was Jessie Johnson.
No Jesse...

Lisa Miller-Gillespie Monte is standing in the back left side of drummer
