As a American I fell in love with the club after watching the first season of the documentary and I’ve been a football fan since the 20/21 season and as a top 6 fan I’ve been trying my hardest to get to know the history of these clubs and watch more EFL Football as a whole so I don’t seem like a “bandwagon Fan” so I’m trying to learn as much history of the club and town as possible

Hi mate, Wrexham fan here (an actual one), and thought the video was fair and spot on. I think if you speak to any moderate Wrexham fan, we’d be quite happy with mid-table safety to consolidate. We lack the infrastructure (still need to build the last stand, and develop academy, etc) to get into Championship, but I think you’re genuinely looking at 3-5 years min before we start to mount a serious challenge to play offs.
Think you’re spot on with transfer strategy although that is changing now, including tieing down our younger prospects to long term contracts (Max Cleworth for example).
It’s frustrating, because I think we’re an easy target for the media because of our profile, but I think if we finish 10-16th we can consider that a good season. Any higher would be unreal, but any lower and I think it would be disappointing
Enjoy the vids man, good luck for the season ahead

I'm happy to be back in League 1, I am also happy to have a financially stable club, and one that folk want to watch.
I've only watched us 5 times since R&R took over (due to work plus ticket availability) and my family, who always supported Liverpool because Wxm were shit, are now season ticket holders.... alot of folk never bought season tickets, as per game it gave the club more cash (genuinely, it was that desperate at times)
So I agree with your introduction to this video😂

From the research I have done, since the English Football League began to have 4 divisions in 1958, no teams have achieved 3 consecutive promotions in 3 seasons whether it's from the 4th tier all the way up to the top flight or from non-league to the 2nd tier. On the flip side, at least three clubs have suffered triple relegations or in a more literal meaning, 3 relegations in a row whether it's from the top flight all the way down to the 4th tier or from the 2nd tier to non-league.

Great analysis overall! What you are missing is that football needs more good stories to attract more fans and less of bad management with bad owners as the headline story. Wrexham is simply a great story because of great owners who fully the manager and team executive! As a Liverpool fan since the mid 90's, I do keep track of the lower leagues. With all due respect to Stockport and their great fans, I do think if Paul Mullin was healthy for the full season, Wrexham would have won the EFL 2 trophy by at least 5 points over Stockport. Wrexham made some quietly smart signings recently. I think they will spend more in January on two additional younger Premier league strikers (who are not being utilized by their respective Premier league clubs) if they need them at that point. Wrexham has the real opportunity to challenge for promotion out of League 1 as they are now appear to have enough talent to get to the mid level of championship league even with the aging front line you mentioned (as long as they remain healthy). Parkinson and the team executive will utilize the last little bit of football talent and experience that older players can give to help younger players along their journey to the Premier League. Example Ben Foster gave the last of his football skills at age 40 to help them along, Ben Tozer as another example and their will be others like them along Wrexham's journey upward. These players will be remembered. They are using this model of promotion with age and experience through the national league and efl league 2 to attract interest from younger players who would be willing to sign there from the Premier League next year which is smart. Rob and Ryan are not content with standing still for to long in lower leagues.

"Bandwagon"/ Plastic fan here, fell in love with Wrexham via the documentary and only had a passing interest in "football" via my son playing, and grew to love the team and club even more as the seasons have gone on... Apart from the whinging Pom bias of "you're not allowed to get new fans in, you're only a true fan if you've sat in the rain and cried about how crap everything is, god forbid you do something to improve your situation!" this is actually an interesting video as it's good to know all the history of stuff... But as someone who has gotten up at 2am nearly every weekend to watch them, you can honestly get🖕if you don't think we're real fans, mate, honestly... If you've watched ANYTHING about the owners, you'd know that they didn't come into this for the money (what nutbag would throw all that money at a NL team to make money?! 🤣) and these assumptions that "they'll get bored and dump the team!11!!" is just trash and just coming from bitter rivals that have had that done to them without looking at what our owners are actually like... Made great points about the age of the forward line and the prices we've paid, we had to do that to get out of where we were... If you did any research, they're obviously looking at someone else up front as there's extras in there that we're either going to have to pay out or go out on loan... But make up your mind, are you taking the piss because we've spent too much to get out of lower leagues and are now being more conservative and looking towards the future? Talking about the Premier League is so premature it's not funny, but you're right, we can't compete for cash with the huge dogs like Birmingham, the amount they're spending is ridonkulous and we really have other things that need sorting before we go too far up the league, but Parky and Rob and Ryan have re-built an amazing culture there and that's the most important thing moving forward... Most fans, even though they want wins, when all is said and done, if we've fought hard and played well and still gotten beat to a mid-table finish by the end of the season, they will think that's a solid first step, with a lot more room for growth... Also looking forward to the new numbers being released for last season, that should be very interesting... Looking forward to a good season in League One and having Wrexham change your mind!

I agree with your breakdown if all things were the same. With English football, especially in the tier system, everything is always the same. So I applaud your breakdown but, wrexham is doing 180° spin.. (I'm someone who' follows the ebbs in trends) thankfully I Get paid for it in the US working for the CDC. I also started watching English tier systems after Sunderland till I die not welcome to wrexham.
So Parkinson(spell?) has taken 30 plus-year-old players (68% of the roster) understanding their legs are not as jubilant as younger players. So instead of playing possession, he plays ball in the 18-yard box consistently to help out with the old men's legs. Until teams figure out how to stop it ( because it's not the normal Tran for offense in English football) teams will struggle against the old men who put pressure on the keeper instead of playing possession. The average time of possession is less than 35%. They've given up two goals 4 matches. 1989 Oakland A's, (screw the batting average. Let's hit home runs. Atlanta braves 1990s. Screw the powerhouse offense. Let's have the best pitchers. Both of those teams broke the mold by doing the exact opposite of other teams. I'm excited to see how this ends. On the title question, back to back to back automatic promotions are not going to happen. Wrexham may build the squad to get in touch with the playoff spots, but like last year's squad, it won't have quality depth across the board, and so a cluster of injuries in the same part of the formation will send them into a bad spell -- like last year's season. If Wrexham get lucky with injuries, they might be able to get into the 6th/5th playoff place, at which point they have a lottery ticket. Ironically, the producers of the doco would not be unhappy if they get into the playoffs and don't win through, because it makes for more drama.

What a weirdo 😂😂 Whether you like it or not, Wrecsam have always been a big club, fan base wise, especially since they’re the only team in North Wales that compete in the English pyramid, so im not quite sure how they could become a disney + salford 😂. Wrecsam, certainly aren’t the richest team in league one, they are nowhere close. They weren’t even the richest team in League Two, that was Stockport, but nobody is speaking about them because they aren’t backed by Ryan Reynolds. Your team are 10x better than them, you have a larger fan base and you have more money, so for them to finish above you would be a miracle, and it would be an embarrassment for you. Your club has been operated like complete shit for years, also, so i don’t know who you are to comment on how other clubs operate

As far as the attack ... their transfer business is not finished. They've signed their GK#1 & GK#2, on 3yr and 2yr deals respectively, and sent their young GK#3 out on loan for game experience. They've signed a centre back, a left back and a central defensive midfielder. The left back is a 21yr old on a reputed 350K fee from Aston Villa after a loan spell last year with Rotherham. They are going to be looking to take several more attacking players, likely several strikers on loan -- their friendly against Bournemouth was close to an advert for a striker with a team looking to send them out on loan, "we've upgraded our midfield, all this team needs is you".

Their recruitment so far has addressed their most pressing needs, other than striker. They needed better defense, they needed more youth and pace, and they needed more flexibility to move players around in case of injury, and got all three. Now they need to finish the transfers focusing on the attack.

@@BruceMcFarling but all they’ve done the last few years is recruit ‘league one quality players’ which tells you that they have enough to be in league one they haven’t got anyone championship level other than maybe Mullin that will push them on. • @BruceMcFarling
      @BruceMcFarling 2 місяці тому

@@TU0399 Yes, the squad they came up with was a mid-table League 1 squad, but the key phrase there is "the last few years" .. they've done an excellent job in the current transfer market in upgrading their defense for League One play, and Okonkwo is only going to improve with more experience. Revan is a "Championship player". Okonkwo is likely to improve even further with more experience. And if two or more of their transfer targets for the attack come through, they'll have more than Mullins at championship level in the attack.

As a “bandwagon” fan, I understand the rude gesture, but I only became a fan of football after our run (Australia) in the 2022 World Cup, and the women’s World Cup. I have not supported any club at all in all my life up until that point, and then I saw welcome to Wrexham on Disney Plus and got hooked. It wasn’t like I only support Wrexham because they’re successful, but it’s because it’s the first club I latched onto as an Australian. And now I’m a massive fan of the game as a whole. So yeah I get it, but also if it weren’t for Wrexham, I probably wouldn’t even watch English/welsh club football at all.

It’s weird to think that there are people that support a club because they’ve seen things like the this is Wrexham thing. Fair enough for finding a team to support but just so you know everybody in the UK hates Wrexham lol.
