Not enough people know this band, but they’ve been so special to my life for a long time. Their music casts such such a specific kind of hazy, magical spell, like every hour of the day is magic hour
Very cool. Met Alasdair after one of their shows in 2005. I recall him talking about differences in audiences at their shows in Europe & US. He really wanted people to be more somewhat vocal not quiet & reserved. I cried when they played Reflections After Jane.
I wasn't familiar, but they seem like really sound guys. Also, interesting and thoughtful picks. I'll check out their work!
It’s so funny how different the Clientele’s music is from their Amoeba picks. They make soothing, poetic indie pop (which I’ve loved for a long time!) and almost every pick here is wild, fast, avant garde, or psychedelic.
Such an underrated band I adore them!
*.
One of top 10 favorite bands. So much of their music perfectly captures the feeling of walking through town while taking in the details of your surroundings and pondering life. They’re brilliant and criminally underrated.
I believe this is the first time an artist shared music that I have never heard of. Not one single song.
Boards of Canada is the only thing I know on this list. There are the episodes I live for! Time to go digging.
Erkin Koray - great pick! His album from the 70s, Elektronik Turkuler, is a masterpiece.
Would not expect the singer from clientele picking a dnb mix, but here we are. Great band, great picks.
“The Clientele” Thank you so much for your recommendations. I am blown away by your taste in music ♥️
Yeah, "Happy Cycling" from the Peel Session is dope. Good taste overall.
This Sherelle album is a banger thks for the recomendation!
No way! The Clientele?! Love their album The Violet Hour. Eclectic picks too!
While Violet Hour and Suburban Light are near-perfect albums, I highly recommend you listen to their newest album. It’s really great.
I knew this was going to be another wonderfully diverse and eclectic mix of music choices here. I started a deep dive with this band within the past year and am really digging them. I find so many different artists to listen to from these 'What's in my Bag' features. Thanks so much.
Was waiting on this episode. The Clientele are absolutely incredible and I always listen intently to the music they recommend.
Couldn't be happier to have found this 😱
Bought five Dead C's in the 90s for 5 each in a basement of their distributor in Amsterdam. Happy days.
Brilliant recommendations! So good to see a band doing this are still so clearly in love with other people's music too.
I have two Clientele’s CDs one 60s sounding and an ambient. Both I like. They have eclectic taste.
Such a brilliant band. I knew they'd have equally brilliant picks. Thanks for having them on Amoeba!
I love their music so much.
Outstanding picks, I must say!
the vast majority of Dead C's catalogue definitely doesn't sound like that. like, at all. great to see them featured though, along with Youngs(!!!), BoC, Scientist, Shepp. top shelf choices all around. these dudes know their shit.
Like what I’ve heard by Clientele over the years. And an enjoyable selection of records for this WIYB - certainly discovered a few new bands to check out.
Best one yet !!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I love the Clientele so much
You know what's crazy? I saw that album of Alon Gon in the background of an earlier "What's in My Bag?" episode and looked into their stuff. It's pretty cool to see it be shown here!
Saw them in 2007 in LA. Great band, great taste in music.
Love them and their new podcast ❤

I've loved the Clientele since I caught them live in 2007, but I've only now learned how their name is pronounced, because we don't say "clientele' that way in New Zealand. Great picks those I know and much great listening ahead for those I don't...
great band with GREAT TASTE. it's not every day that i vibe with What's in my Bag picks but very fine selections indeed!
Wish the drummer was there and did some picks too 🤷

Anyone know what Dead C song that is? Sounds awesome

Dead C hell yes
The Clientele - What's In My Bag? 11.11.23. some receipts... a camera....
At last some love for Richard Youngs.
Scientist's name is Hopeton Brown, not Linval Thompson. You've got the wrong dub producer there I'm afraid.
Yo, they just dropped 300 bucks on ASS
Ya don't know shit bud
