- This is a fan-made video of the last time the original line-up of Hellion ever played together. This show was at the Country Club in Reseda, California, and the headliner of this show was "Keel."
By late December of 1984, Hellion was one of a handful of respected hard rock or metal bands in Los Angeles that had not landed a major record deal. Record company execs repeatedly stated that they would not sign Hellion as long as it contained a female singer (Boleyn), or unless Boleyn agreed to allow herself to be marketed as "the next Pat Benetar." As the holidays approached, with no record deal in sight, Hellion's male members, and band's management, began dropping hints about replacing Boleyn with a male. To make matters worse, Boleyn was suffering from enemia.
During the time while Ann Boleyn was sick, Hellion was added at the last minute as the opener for "Keel." Due to the late add, Hellion was not included in the advertising.
On the evening of this show, Boleyn recalls being too tired (due to the anemia) to even change into her stage clothes. Strangely, Boleyn opted to just wear her street clothes, which were black jeans and a t-shirt for the Japanese magazine, Burn, with which she had just done an interview. (Little did she know -- weeks later -- the male members of Hellion would leave Boleyn and rename the band "Burn.")
To make matters worse, Boleyn had heard that there were a number of male singers in attendance who were seeking to join Hellion, and that one of the reasons for the show was to showcase the band to potential singers.
This song is entitled "Driving Hard," which was Hellion's first single (the B-side of which was "Black Knight" by Deep Purple).
