I’m in the “what happened to summer?” stage of summer! Seriously, this summer flew by so fast!
Yup. Where did it go? Did it even arrive?
Right there with you!
For me, this is usually the longest stage of the summer.
Oh God, yes. Usually, summer feels pretty long. This year, months go by faster than the previous month
Omg god, yes.im in the blink my eyes and winter crying jag stage of summer. These three hot days this summer were great☹️
That water from the hose was the official sports drink of my childhood 😄
Garden hose or squirt gun Gatorade?
As a former educator, we also had Stages of Summer: 1) what did I forget to do before I left my office for 2 months, and am I supposed to be somewhere right now? 2) Well, this is lovely, and life couldn't get any better. 3) I'm ready for the children to go back to school. 4)SUMMER END PANIC - did I relax enough? Did all the yard projects get done? Did I take enough trips?? DID I SUMMER HARD ENOUGH???!! Stage 5) ....is just a lot of resignation, identifying as a victim, and inevitable reluctance.
🏆
You said it exactly 💯!!
As the husband of a teacher: first of all, thank you for everything you (and all teachers) do; second, we’re on stage “Fall is a forbidden word and does not exist”. 😅
@@machtmer I used to yell/change the channel when Back to School commercials started in July -- TOO SOON!!!! SHUT IT DOWN, TARGET AND OLD NAVY!!!!"
@@angelariebli4843 ah yes, I know that response well! That currently is almost daily! 😆
I always skip #3. I’m never ready for the kids to come back. 😂
We’re on our way to Italy, but if it makes you feel better this is our “let’s plan for next summer” from 2022.😂
I'm 51 and literally don't know a single person who has been to Italy. But I grew up and have remained lower class, and pretty much everyone else I knew was lower class. That's just a testament to how entertaining you guys are, because I don't relate to a lot of what you post, but yet here I still am, lol.
Growing up, my husband went to lots of places, and then backpacked across Western Europe when he was 18. 😮 I was lucky to go to the local amusement park growing up. 😂
I don’t understand all these high schools that do big senior trips to the Caribbean or Disney World. My senior class didn’t go anywhere. And I couldn’t even afford prom. 😢
But as an adult, I’m doing much better financially.
@@ambermac77 I'm glad to hear you're doing better now. I am too, to some degree, but traveling is still out of reach. My dream is to have an RV and a remote job so I can move around and stop living under this rock, lol.
My wife and I got to go to Italy once for a weekend on the way to somewhere else. Otherwise we could have never afforded it. The pizza is amazing.
We are in the still trying to recover from covid financially stage. My husband's job has still not gone back to complete full hours, but he fixes limos for a liv ing. Hoping to be able to pay the PSEG Mortgage and water bill. I can't be the only one. I miss the shore, but our governor just came back from Italy🤣
@@chickie8252 Money is crazy tight here to. I just got a raise, but even that can't keep up with inflation. I expect all the crazy high inflation has resulted in a lot fewer limo rides and in turn, a lot less maintenance. I haven't been able to afford a haircut and my hair is miserably long.
I am in Stage 6 - otherwise known as tired of the hot weather and getting ready for my favorite season - Autumn! The other night at bedtime, I set the AC at 66 and played an hours and hours long YT video of blizzard winds beside my bed, while I snuggled under the covers and drifted off to sleep. I am not even kidding.
Yay I'm not the only one! I also look forward to fall because I hate mosquitoes. I don't remember mosquitoes being out in the daytime when I was a little kid but the minute I leave the house, they're all over me!
Lol, good for you!
I have been rotating between winter and fall sleep stories by Michelle’s meditation sanctuary during the hottest parts of the day and putting the tv on winter coffee shop ambience scenes.
So same
On phase: "It's so painfully and ruthlessly hot we're going to scream!" This phase of summer makes me want summer to ennnnddd. We saw fall decor in the store the other day, and I ushered all our kids over and said "Let's just stand here and pretend it's getting cooler". It was a new low. 🤣🤪🤣
Our phase is let’s pretend it’s fall and get all the pumpkin things while Halloween shopping.
It kinda works until you step outside and melt….
I’m on stage binge watching Friends for the second time in a row. Most relaxing summer ever. 😀 hope everyone is having a great summer!
I’m in the stage of summer where I don’t want it to be over but I can feel it slipping away.
Am in ‘oh my gosh it’s nearly fall and I need to cast on to knit 5 sweaters”. Winter is coming!
I love that you have an outro instead of an intro. 👍🏼
It’s also very catchy and I have to sing along every time.
@@kristenmae6761 Ha! I’ve caught myself singing it all day. 😂
Stage 3 was my whole childhood summers!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Gen X forever!
Damn skippy!
I thought everyone did summers like this. 😂
@@LW97672 me too! Lol
I'm on stage: unemployed for 135 days after being downsized on my birthday via zoom while out to lunch with my wife on vacation stage of summer.
Dang!! I feel that.
My husband got downsized twice. Once on his birthday, the day after they laid off about 150 people (so he thought he was safe with another 100 people that also got laid off the 2nd day). 😢
The next time was the day he came back to work after having surgery and a sepsis infection that almost killed him. 😡 I was working at the same company and got laid off 3 weeks later… a few days before Christmas. 🤬
Ouchies. Ever consider doing a side hustle kind of job that could become your main hustle? Looking into that for me and my wife.
@@trebmaster I've been paying the bills freelancing but would much prefer a W2 job. Less stress.
@@ambermac77 yeah echoes my situation. About 80% of the company laid off mid week via zoom. Oof.
Wow.😊
Younger Gex X here (50 years old.) I lived on a farm in what was then rural AZ. Not only did you NEVER say you're bored out loud, you always looked busy when a parent was around. We had a chore list every morning and my mother's superpower was thinking up jobs on the spot to add to it for: idleness, back talk, failing to do an already listed chore correctly the first time by the scheduled deadline, sibling squabbles, making noise during siesta in your bedroom between 2-4pm, and complaining about being bored. Be quick and be quiet.YOu wanna make noise? Go outside where no one inside can hear you.
All of my relatives back in AZ have been suffering for more than a month with over 110 degrees. I don't complain to them about the weather here in Raleigh. I also don't brag about it. I was in the trenches for 45 years-I know better.
I’m watching this hilarious video from my beachfront condo in Italy….😂
Have a slice of pizza thinking of us.
@@hemaccabe4292 I was just kidding I’m sitting in my recliner here in Orlando Florida…😝
@@leedanielson7452 Oh okay. Enjoy Orlando! So close to Space City!
From here in the Southern Hemisphere winter: it all sounds amazing. Every bit of it. Every stage of summer.
No summer up here either wettest July on record for England!

I’m in the “I just went into my classroom for the first time since June but I don’t want to do any of the things I need to to get ready for this year” 😅 We don’t start until after Labor Day but I’m getting married in September so I need to relabel my entire classroom library with my new name.
Haha! Getting married, just creating more work for yourself. 😂 Congrats!
The children will be starting at the end of JULY next summer because no on can figure the calendar creeps up and then one has to push the start date back. Thats good because then the lunch people will have less time to be unemployed😊
I love the Pluto - Never Forget t-shirt.
It makes me grin every time I see it in their videos.
I had to laugh at "leave on your bike in the morning, and not come home until the lights came on". Except, we didn't have street lights. So if you heard mom yelling...you rode your asses off to get home before you heard dad starting in...lol
I still remember exactly how my name sounded yelled across the neighborhood.
That's totally how I feel, especially with all of my neighbours inexplicably heading to Italy together! 😂🇮🇹
We didn't get the memo
@@holdernessfamilylaughs We didn't go to Italy either this year.
As a person headed to Italy I’m cracking up! 😂
This made me feel so validated. Exactly how my summer went.
Our summer holidays in South Africa are not that long (4-5 weeks) and my 5yo daughter already has learned to not announce she is bored. Because i WILL give her something to clean.
GenX rule…don’t say I’m bored to an adult 😂
100%
I stacked a lot of firewood and rocks in August. Every damn year. Never learned to not say I'm bored. I was in the country 10 miles from town and didn't get to see my friends. All I had was the bookmobile. I read a lot of books. And stacked firewood. 😂
@@WendyHughesJelenGRNLVNG Firewood kept the family warm come winter I bet. Too bad you didn't have a bicycle, could have road yourself into town.
@@WendyHughesJelenGRNLVNG I hated not seeing my friends in the summer cause I lived in the country. Which wasn't that far actually. I had my siblings but man I was always ready to see them back at school .
Yeah, I got handed a snow shovel....
It's nothing but rain here, in the Netherlands! Love our summers... And for all those people you know that went to Italy, it was very very hot there, apparently 😅
We only visit Europe in winter. We were there in autumn once and it was still too hot.
@@WendyHughesJelenGRNLVNG depends on the location! Here in the Netherlands we usually have the normal season, but the last couple years it's like the seasons are changing
I’m literally in the “there’s only 3 weeks left of summer “let’s cram everything into 1 week because my husband finally decided to take off at last minute stage (the week before school starts)”. Luckily, our 2 older boys flew off to CO from MN for 2 weeks to visit the grands and they spoiled them immensely and never stopped moving so they were happy to come to chill. Hasty Potter marathon has been a hit!
When Penn sniffed that hibiscus, it sounded like he snorted a line. I laughed like a hyena!
I think that box of extra cords Penn put on the garage shelf will end up being the cause of a new video later 😜
The "I'm bored" situation - with five kids I had several reactions. The first - if someone said "I'm bored" I'd respond "Nice to meet you, I'm plywood." They all HATED that and would walk away rolling their eyes, presumably off to find something to do, or to convince my hubby to take them to the river. My second response was to offer a list of interesting options. My third response was for anyone who was a repeat whiner - they got a chore. They learned quickly not push me to the third response.
Hahaha every kid pre 2000 got kicked out right after breakfast and told not to come back till lunch 😂. Whining we were bored qlways ended with a chore (or 3) 😂
No, a lot of summer was either doing stuff outside because we wanted to or sitting in front of the TV pigging out.
I'm already at the stage where I'm excited for fall. Autumnal decorating, cinnamon, pumpkins, yeaahhhh. Good stuff.
I love the honesty!!! I can totally relate!! ☺️❤️
I don’t think Gen Z has had the pleasure of drinking out of a hose or going outside when it rain with their friends. I didn’t have ITALY FOMO until this video. I just now recall how everyone was in Italy. 2 weeks left and time to plan for next summer.
I'm in "Where did the sun go, it has been raining for two weeks now. Oh well, I guess end of the summer just came?" 😅😂
Hilarious! And true. I'm on the stage of reretting signing everyone up for camps, weeks of driving back and forth hours out of a day every day, and being completely exhausted after really needing a relaxing summer. But I have happy campers who want to do it again next year!😂
Summer is when the grandparents are kept more busy watching the kids, taking them out to eat, to the library, etc, while the parents keep working.
Although we got to have a mini 5 day vacation visiting the Ozarks and Jefferson City.
Spending entire summers between my grandparents and my aunt’s homes are the best memories of my life. As a grandparent I’m actually pretty bummed that leaving the kids with grands isn’t a thing anymore. But I’m not angry that my daughter in law stays home with kids so it’s bittersweet.
Guys I live in Tucson Arizona, EVERY DAY is summer. We have had over 65 days of heat over 100. So I have been over summer for YEARS. I have never been so happy my kids are grown and out of the house as when summer hits.
Same boat! Only our friends/family are all in Hawaii! Thanks to this video, I just put on my calendar to book a camp EARLY!
I'm in the procrastinating on making a summer bucket stage. I will probably make one just as fall starts. Then I procrastinate on my fall bucket list.
Hysterical!!😂 One of your best, guys!
In North TX w/ no adolescent children, it's always summer... Until it becomes the South Pole. Either way, just staying inside watching Kim & Penn on repeat always seems to be the right answer😂
I’m in Texas too (between Waco and Austin), all my kids are adults so it’s just my husband and I. We are recent transplants from Wisconsin, so we are enjoying the heat of summer and hoping we don’t have a repeat of the freezing weather we had last December here in Texas.
@@kimrothe well howdy 🤠 neighbor from the north! Both Norths! MN here! Never seen worse weather/infrastructure in my whole life than in North Texas. 30 feet of snow & 35below w windchill NO PROB. This north TX weather is for the birds! Closet to the bay is FAR better, except for u knowww the hurricanes and whatnot 😅
@@ang8925 guess we have to pick our poison lol. It is a little ridiculous that in the summer in Texas the power grid could go out. We had solar panels installed on our house to try to ease our usage on the grid, but we didn’t get battery backup installed (it’s a bit pricey). Hopefully in a few years we can get that installed. I’d like to enjoy my retirement years by avoiding snow and hurricanes and hopefully tornadoes lol 😂
@@kimrothe yep battery backup is SUPER pricey! Unaffordable, and unscalable! There's an innovative company in Plano (I'll find the name) the good solar co's use them. All the reputable solar people tell me what we really need is a generac. In TX you can actually fill 99 gallons of gasoline into a transfer tank urself at the gas station and transport it yourself! Above ground gas storage tanks used to be not very expensive. So plenty of backup to the backup, issue many ppl don't drive diesels. So to keep a bunch on hand may not make sense for folks.
The clear answer ofc is to simply be snowbirds! 😁💖 Truthfully never lived in worse weather than DFW area. It's either blazing hot or freezing cold, It's rarely ever nice! Never had these issues in Houston, and I don't care what anyone says It felt far less hot on 100° days.
I'm on the "back from camping, one more party and then mommy's pretending it's fall for the rest of summer" stage lol
I’m 41 and I have no kids.
You people are my entertainment.
We can always gloat about still doing summery things in mid-September when everyone else has school. ;)
We’re in the not with me stage, and can’t wait for school to start this week stage 😂.
Omg the Italy envy part is absolutely me!!😅😅😅😅
Suits!!!! The best! Just finished... that is how my summer went. Lol
I'm going to Italy in 7 weeks... LOL!! My travel agent told me Italy is VERY popular this year, for real! 😁
I typically jump from 1-4 but I'm currently at the stage of "I'll do summer things when they move out"
We’ve always had a tight budget and only gone on vacation to visit family in nearby states. This year, it’s hitting me HARD that my oldest is 14 and will be gone in less than 4 years! So I’ve actually been much more intentional, planning more, making memories. We’ve gone to a nearby reservoir, pools, local amusement park, camped in the backyard, visited grandparents, and have a “staycation” planned for next weekend-45 minutes away 😂 in a hotel with a fantastic pool. And it’s been wonderful! So I’m in Stage Wow, summer is nearly over already? 😢 Instead of Stage I’M GOING TO STRANGLE THEM IF SCHOOL DOESN’T START SOON! 😂
Public schools just started here, so we’re taking 2 weeks of homeschool summer vacation (we homeschool year-round and don’t take many breaks at all). This week was a new park everyday, next week is going to the no-longer-crowded pool everyday, then we’ll resume our normal grind. Only, now that PS kids aren’t around, we’ll take our books to parks, nature centers, and other places to be able to enjoy those while also doing our schoolwork in some sunny environments. I love that schools here start a month earlier than where I grew up because we have some summer time fun without the crowds.
I'm in the "It seemed like a great idea to plant all these veggies this spring" stage. Keeping up with the harvesting. Also at the buying spooky stuff at Homegoods and Michael's stage of summer. ;)
We've passed the "there's plenty of time to put out the lawn furniture and hook up all the hoses etc...." and we are in the "why bother now, summer is almost over" stage. And since there's nothing new on TV, we also started watching Suits for the first time! We were not in the 110 degrees of summer, we were in the constant rain every weekend summer.
Sadly I've had a start summer with my husband needing an emergency appendindectomy, continue summer with my mom's hip going out, culminating in having to make the decision on which of us is becoming the stay at home parent to take care of both our son and my mother, and is wrapping up with this morning having my husband wake up in excruciating pain at the surgery site, meaning another trip to the hospital.
This summer is definitely filling up our anti bucket list.
😂 Stage one is SO very me. We used to do a summer contract with the kids every year partly to identify expectations. We are kind of in stage 5 by your plan, but instead of just planning next year, we're trying to cram as much as we can into the next few weeks.
I am in the “it’s been 110 degrees for 18 straight days” summer. Thank you for the recognition. Live in southern Louisiana
LOL 😂. You guys are so funny. Love your content. The whole everyone is going to Italy thing is true. My wife and I are pet care providers. So many of our clients are going there. Keep up the wonderful videos ❤😊
I love you guys!!! You make me laugh so much!!!!! 😂😂😂😄😄😄💗💗💗
Don’t miss the “children entrainment” summers….
My favourite was the mothers breakfast on the first day of school….I do miss those!
part of my summer was planed by MRSA, meaning 2 weeks isolation in a hospital follow by 2 weeks isolation in home. Having ADD, the 2 weeks in home was only really bad when I wanted some snacks and could not go to the shop.
Aw! I hope you feel better and can have a bit of fun
😆So relatable! We're past "Plan the next summer" stage and into the "So, when are we getting out the fall decorations?" stage... Yeah we're there 😁
Oh, and my friends all went to Scotland! 🤗
Absolutely relate. Feels like we are the only ones who did not go overseas.
This is us! I love this video! Thank you!
I also need a variety of skin creams, silence, pillows all over, and total darkness when i go to bed. 😂
118 degrees is my every summer here on the Mexico/Texas border lol. And August is always the worst. Unfortunately I don't get any time off in the summer, so my poor kid is bored at home most of the day. He doesn't have any friends that live nearby, and summer camps are expensive and not even for the whole day. It's been a struggle. We did take a vacation in June and he spent a few days with my mom, but we're kind of counting the days until he can go back to school and see friends.
But I have noticed that an usual amount of people traveled abroad this summer. Not to solely to Italy necessarily, but Europe in general, and also Japan.
Same here we got state park passes we go there alot hour from Florida cold springs
YES! Definitely in that last "18 straight days of 110°+ " phase!🥵
I have no kids….I have enjoyed summer traffic and the Monsoon storms. I live in he Southwest..and am in the “done with temps over 100 degrees/Monsoon Humidity”. I am ready for Fall😊! Love you you guy’s videos. This one was awesome…especially the Gen X humor. Looking forward to your Fall videos.
Yes! Everyone is gone! We're in stage: we have kids in two different school districts so we're trying to cram in fun stuff real fast before two go back and the other still gets to hang (she'll be at Camp You're Helping Clean the House I Don't Care if Your Siblings Don't Because They're in School).
Truthfully I do make a summer to do list and we cross it all off but it's mostly "get a snow cone" and other things I know we can get done. And why are kids complaining they're bored? It's summer and you're not in school so just frickin RELAX.
I’m at the “We just got back from a vacation and I have to catch up” stage of summer. If you’re looking for somewhere olde and Europe-like but cheap (for Americans) and requiring no overseas travel, May I suggest Quebec City, Quebec, Canada? Founded in 1608, it has a section with narrow cobblestone streets and a funicular like European cities, but modern hotels and smaller crowds. A three-hour drive away, you have Montreal, the fourth largest French-speaking city in the world, with an historic quarter and more modern things like botanical gardens and great shopping. We just returned from a vacation in Quebec and had a fantastic time. We do speak some French, and our two kids are fluent, but I think you could get by with just English in the cities. Good luck with the rest of your summer - it goes by so fast! Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go do some laundry…
I am totally feeling this! I think everyone we know went across the water. Italy, England, you name it
summer bucket list! lol
Oh the stewarts are at the beach... in italy.
I was looking forward to my kid being able to play with his friends this summer, and they all ended up traveling the entire summer. Some of them went to Italy! 😆
I’m watching this from Australia 🇦🇺 and it’s winter here and yet my Facebook feed is also filled with friends Italian holiday pics!!! Is it something in the water?! Because it does seem like to me everyone (at least lots of people I know) are suddenly going to Italy!
I am at - "I can't wait for summer to be over." or "Hello Autumn!"
I have 2 preteens, and it was above 110 for over three weeks here in Phoenix. I am delighted that we got away for a bit, that they had YMCA camp (because it's where my husband works), that I got to work this summer, and that they're back in school August 1st. Love them to pieces, but the "You need to not be near me" comes at ya real fast!!
Drinking from the hose, yes!! 😂
🤣🤣🤣 my wife is definitely at the " see other people stage " with our kids, she can't wait for school to start again
SO accurate!! Next summer will be different. ;)
Tell him to go sort all of the blades of grass by size and color, this is both a test of obedience, and intelligence. some times you just have to know when to question orders.
That's funny...
For the first time in 15 years with kids, we have made this the summer of our dreams! We made that bucket list and we’ve done most of the things on it, and now we have one week left, so we are in the stage of, CRAM EVERYTHING WE CAN INTO 7 DAYS!
Stage 3 was my childhood! I'd hang out with my friends all day! We'd play in the street, go swimming, reenact Mufasa's death from the lion king which caused me to fall off a wall and get stitches in my head...GOOD TIMES!
I'm definitely at the " it's been 110 degrees for the last month with no rain", part of the summer. That's also, the open the door and feel the inferno then, say nope and shut the door, 😡 stage
I will give you some of our rain from KC. We have had rain for a week straight. I am in the I miss the sun, swimming and ice cream stage of summer.
@@melissagrovijohn4285 I would definitely take some if I could. The only good thing about no rain is that I don't have to pay to have my yard mowed because the grass isn't growing.
I'm in the "teacher getting work emails about back to school stuff" stage and I'm wondering why summers go so dang fast??? 🤔
Lol!! So funny! I have hated summer my whole life! Very low tolerance for heat and I live in maine!! I am at the stage of counting down to Labor Day, so that I can put my fall decorations up!! I am so much happier in fall and winter!!!
Love you guys in any season!!!❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I was deep into the Not With Me phase leading up to the start of the school year. I love my kids but I had had enough! Well, Mother Nature gots jokes. On just the second day of school, we woke up to storms. They don't cancel school for that, but - lucky us - all the power in the city went out and school got canceled! Power was out all day. Yay! That first day with them in school was such a TEASE. 😂
Love summer! We go somewhere every year. You definitely need to break things up. We went to Costa Rica at the beginning of summer and then the beach last weekend. A lot of people went to Italy this year! 😂
Lol this!! Happy Friday! I am in the OMG it’s almost over stage!! I need more time!!😂
June for me was “you’re gonna spend 2 hours every day outside bettering your basketball skills”
My august was: “you know, basketball season isn’t even during August, September, OR October! I got time!”
We’ll see how November me feels about my dunks.
I'm in the "why isn't it October already?" stage of summer.
Hilarious. More than one group of friends went to Italy and my husband has started binge watching Suits
We still have a month of summer left and we've managed to avoid most of the stages by taking 2 separate vacations in July (the kids went one place and we went to another no where near each other). Now we're facing stage 2 but it's everyone's at the lake or going there. The kids are in stage 5 already because of their trip but hubby and I are caught somewhere between stages 3 and 4 and are happy to just be back to "normal" and enjoying any alone time we can steal. School starts here Sept 5.
Hello from our Summer vacation in Japan 🇯🇵 (it’s 110 degrees here, too.)
