Catman is my favorite Golden Age non-Timely/non-DC character. He’s a neat mix of Tarzan, Batman, and even Wonder Woman (in the sense that they both worked for Army Intelligence during WWII).
I adore the idea that a man raised by tigers being a totally normal dude. Like, he has a day job, goes to drinks after it, pays rent. You see a photo of some baby tigers on his desk and you ask what that's for and he's like 'oh! those are my neices :)' and he's such a normal and boring man he wouldn't even lie about boring things, much less about something as insane as that.
I love the concept behind the Kitten! Like, yeah, there are undeniable parallels between her and Batman’s Robin (both are kid sidekicks who’s parents were killed in an acrobatics accident), but I love the added detail of her backstory of her being an accomplice to her criminal uncle before being adopted by cat-man and eventually becoming his sidekick. Idk, for some reason I feel like a kid sidekick who starts off as a criminal and minor antagonist to the hero is an interesting concept.
Love the idea of a superhero with multiple lives. Makes way more sense than these heroes who somehow survive insanely dangerous situations over and over again
Isn't that also the superpower of Mysterion from South Park? Basically he can keep getting killed, but just wakes up in his bed the next day and nobody remembers him dying.
@@megalosaurusstudios2 basically they aged up Kattie(the kitten) into a grown women and eventually becomes mature enough so she marries catman... I thought batgirl and batman was weird but like this is next level
@@whotfduece08Bro you didn't even tell him all of the details. It wasn't just that the writers made a new continuity where she was an adult. She was apparently given the body of an adult after being resurrected at about 11, or 12 and then by the age of about 15, or 16 her and this version of Cat-Man, who was in his late 20s at the lowest, married.
Love the idea of him losing one of his nine lives immediately after beginning his superhero gig. Let it be a wakeup call and teaching moment. The writers just then have to be very careful (as does Catman himself) to not use up the remaining 8 lives haphazardly. Catman losing a life should be like a big event happening only during extremely dramatic moments along a comic run.
For those who are curious, the summary of the AC comics version of "Catman and The Kitten" includes this sentence: "Eventually, her emotional maturity caught up with her physical form, and the pair were married."
So proud to have been invited to perform voice acting for your project, Austin! Your passion is contagious, and your vibe, uber positive! Thank you so much! ~Ed Kelly
Decades before I found out about the "canon" Catman, I was writing my own Catman comics as a kid. It was a Batman parody comedy series. I am actually in development of a game with my Parody version, so its nice to hear that the copyright likely wont be a problem.
Imagine a crossover between Batman and Catman, similar to the ones the dark knight made wirh Spawn, the Green Hornet, etc. Besides, Robin and Kitten would make an awesone shipping, considering their pretty similar roles and tragic origins. After all, it would not be the first time two heroes from different editorials fall in love with each other, like Tim Drake and Jubilee during the Marvel/DC crossovers
As the comics and other commenters here point out, they did precisely that: he was revived as an adversary of the Golden Age Batman, acting as a kind of uninvited, spiritual successor to Catwoman after she had retired from crime.
I am so happy the SuperZeroes project is progressing so well (is Atlas available yet?)!!! I don't know how much you plan to involve Kitten in your take on Cat-Man, but could I suggest that she be a similar character to Jade from Jackie Chan Adventures - you know, more guts and enthusiasm than common sense, Blake would rather she stay safe at home rather than go out crime fighting but she never listens and she's surprisingly more help than trouble? PS the spirit of his adopted tiger mother could appear to him in dreams and they just have these moments where they stare meaningfully at each other in the dreamworld, then Blake wakes up with a new idea/insight to help solve the problem of the week?
Fun fact: The whole 9 lives thing originally meant the amount of reincarnations cats had. Though I guess since everyone (presumably) has infinite reincarnations, it was changed to what it currently is
Thanks for mentioning the DC Comics incarnation of the character . . . and thusly clearing up my confusion: my first introduction to any sort of "Cat-Man" was reading about him back in the old "Who's Who" compendium of characters back in 1985, when I was about 10 years old, and seeing him there replete with the red-and-yellow costume shown here. Imagine my perplexity when you brought him up in the first videos about The Superzeroes, with a completely different backstory! But now I understand.
Holup, THE SpikeyTortoise?! I remember seeing his old timey comic style art on Reddit. It looked so good and I can't believe you guys are working together on this
It could be fun to double down on the constant revival and make it his unique superpower: Cat-man could have 9 lives each day. There could be a lot of funky ways to use dying to his advantage but he would have to keep track of his lives like Super Mario or it's game over for the curious cat.
One thing I like about the Superzeroes universe is how Austin's already planted, or has the opportunity to plant, the seeds of connection between these disparate heroes. Spoilers for The Spider-Queen novel, so fair warning to anyone who hasn't read it yet. For the Atlas film, this is mostly my own speculation based on how Six-Gun Gorilla was chosen to be the focus of the post credits scene, but until it comes out, it'll be my headcanon. I think that Jim's uncle's ranch used to be owned by Bart Masters prior to him being killed and the land getting sold to Jim's forefather. Several people noticed this, but Landor already made at least two cat human hybrids in the original, so Man-Cat will probably be an evolution of those characters, and eventually become a hero in the phase 1 finale. It was mentioned briefly in the original video, but somehow, Little Red is responsible for gathering everyone together. The last chapter in Spider-Queen has Landor receive a sample of the Tundra Anomaly that Henry also got, albeit a smaller one. The electrical powers it has could be used to fast-track a bunch of mutants, and maybe even keep him alive after he gets scarred. Blue Bolt was initially the odd one out, but a line at the end of Spider-Queen mentioned that Shannon's sample of the Anomaly was stored away in an unnamed college lab. That will probably be used to empower Mr. Parrish in this version. Little Red could also be the one to convince him to be a hero instead of using his powers to be better at football, since the original Blue Bolt did have a connection to another female color-themed magic user.

Wasn't there a Man Tiger combination of Cat Man with the ability to turn into any form of cat? And Kittie character may have helped develop Cat Woman, and possibly Hellcat, and Cheater? Of course, there is the Cat People stories in books, Sherlock Holmes crossed swords with a cat woman to? And in some Tarzan stories, there is mention to. And then there The Thundercats? Cats often use many different styles of publications, from books to movies and even true stories of cat people, and even cat people from other worlds. Catman should have a retelling acr based in mythology and new lore in novels and graphics novels a classic look with a darker character with a hint of comedy and with supernatural connections to the older source stories and stories to reflect the present day, characteristics of both mystical and universal place. A celestial being of every version of the originals.
So what’s your opinion on the writers strike? One of their main concerns is on the use and regulation of ai. Do you simply not view them as valid because you see it as some form of innovation?

Any plans for actual comic books in this Universe. I think releasing a large graphic novel once a year similar to a season of a tv show could work really well
Idk why but I expected him to be an wild cat knock off, but it’s more to an batman one.
(He probably launched before wild cat now that I’m thinking about it, but i am not sure?)
WAIT CAT MAN WAS A REAL DC CHARACTER?! I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST A BATMAN PARODY IN FARY ODD PARENTS!!
I always enjoy installations of this project!
Austin I want to thank you for being uncomfortable with the AC comics verion and not condoning pedophilia in any form.
Artlist is doing a 100k funding of an idea I think it would be cool if you pitched one of these characters for it
Catman's parents didn't show up for his birth, and that's why he was raised by ocelots instead
thanks for telling us about the cat-man, austin!
"He has no superpowers to speak of, which he compensates for by carrying a pistol"
DC’s version was a parody, as was the Fairly Oddparents version…hell, the Fairly Oddparents version is a double parody given who voiced him!
I may be 11 days late...but THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN...
Really for his sidekick he could just save her from "accidently" being pushed into the tiger pit at the Zoo where he likes to spend time around the Big Cat Sections...

Once I get my first paycheck, assuming I can pay rent, I am getting the spider queen one
More hyped for Catman's glorious revival (he still has a few lives I guess, eh?) than I've been any Marvel movie.
Now _this_ is quality entertainment
So what’s your opinion on the writers strike? One of their main concerns is on the use and regulation of ai. Do you simply not view them as valid because you see it as some form of innovation?
Okay that cat man animation is givening 1980 spider man vides, i think im gonna like it!
Can't wait!
Is not his name needs to be Tiger Man as his adopted mom is a Tiger?
I can't wait!
They're 2 Version of Catman David Merryweather and Thomas Blake aka Catman of Secret Six of DC Comics Blessings and Hugs 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Why does the character mimic the 1969 Spiderman cartoon animation style?
“…and the Kitten” made me smile.
It's honestly amazing that this guy is creating his own super hero universe. I was getting tired of Marvel and DC, this is a breath of fresh air.
@AzureWolf168you are only talking about the movies arent you?
We appreciate your insights. Keep working hard.
Oh this will be sweeeet!! I'm into this retro show look thing : D heck yeah!!
