Unfortunately I'm short and wide 5'6" and 220# or so depending upon how much I lift for weights. So it's hard to find stuff to fit me. So I learned to sew
I bought a Baerskin Tactical Hoodie shortly after receiving one of the company's early email advertised sale flyers. Living in central Florida, the Hoodie is more than adequate to meet any temperature challenges we experience in these parts and it is pretty comfortable on the back. The only real complaint I have with the company is that after I ordered the Tactical Hoodie, it took Baerskin more than three months to ship one to me, with absolutely no advisement of the cause for any shipping delays. I actually thought I had been scammed by the originators of the sales email. Nuff said.
@@dadbudgetadventures The Tactical Hoodie is a more than acceptable garment' innovatively designed, well-crafted and fairly priced. I like the garment, but have reservations as to how well the company is run!
I bought one of the original versions. While it was nice and warm and seemed to be water proof, there were quite a few things I didn't like. The zipper felt weird and there was no way to cinch the hood tight around your head, among a couple other things I don't remember. I left them a review it seems like maybe they actually react to feedback, so that's a good thing.
Here in Michigan, northern states in general, fleeces and knit sweaters pretty much serve the same purpose. Indoor warm layer, outdoor insulation layer, under wind and water proof outer layer.
I've been curious about Bearskin products for a while. One of my siblings has Parkinson's, and during the fall and winter they have a hard time keeping warm outside or while traveling. He's prefers fleece, as it's not to heavy, but under 50 Fahrenheit they don't work well for him. I've been considering one of these as a gift for him. Thanks for the review, and will probably get one for him.
I've seen those hoodies, and wondered about them. I don't know if you were able to assess how windproof it is, but I'll be interested to see how it performs.
I have had one for about 3 years and it looks like they've updated some of the features. Mine doesn't have adjustable sleeves, which makes them very baggy and open so the wind can get in. The bigger issue I have is that the neck hole is huge when zipped all the way up, and there's no way to cinch up the collar, so my neck is exposed to wind constantly. The fabric is warm, but due to the fit of the neck and wrists, it's not a very warm jacket IMHO... I didn't see you zip it up all the way, so I can't tell if the neck/hood is still an issue. Looks good on ya though!
Good thorough review. Pockets, tight fit, all are nice design implements. Being old school, however, I have learned from experience that, contrary to their advertising, dressing in layers in Canada's north winter season, is the best idea. Their adverts disparage the time-tested advice of our elders, who knew better to dress in layers. It is not a childish behaviour to wear layers; it does not make you a 'Momma's Boy'. Don't be intimidated by their arrogant foolishness. In 40 below temperature, it may be nice to stand around wearing that hoodie, but start an activity, like sawing firewood and chopping it, and stacking it, with that garment on, or just plain snowshoeing or skiing, you would be forced to remove it. And, wearing a tee shirt underneath (because it is too hot wearing any other layers), would mean frostbite. Layers are the real way to go. Macho men will get frostbite, as the Psalmist plainly asks, 'Who can stand before His cold?' (Psalm 147:17)
Great point. I think it really comes down to what your expectations are for using it. For me I mostly need protection from cold while I’m outside. I’m in a different mode though when I’m gathering or processing firewood or exploring. For this I definitely recommend careful consideration of layers you can easily shed and rebuild.
to bad they don't bother in full grown men sizes, still extremely overpriced & not worth it to me Their regular & sales prices show it too as of right now today: reg price $350 cad sale price $140 cad that's a pretty high mark considering they are still making a profit at the sale price.

That’s understandable. I’m pretty vertically challenged myself so things look different on me than my taller counterparts.

That’s good to know. Thanks for sharing. I hope you at least like the product even if the experience of getting it wasn’t great.

I have been debating whether to get one or not. This review helps. Thank you
I’m pretty impressed overall. Looking forward to trying it out once cold weather decides to show up.

Yeah I think they have improved on the things that didn’t work previously.

That’s kinda what I have found. Once you go outside in most fleece it’s pretty worthless.
keep yourself warm
Right now that isn’t a problem 😬

If you decide to go that way I truly hope it works for him and wish you and your family all the best.
Nice bunny hug.......... I'm from Saskatchewan and it's what we call a hoodie a Bunny Hug
So that’s going in my vocabulary now 😎
@dadbudgetadventures cool

I looked last year for son but I just was not sure
I’m hoping for a cold snap soon so I can really put it to the test.
My brother is a mechanic and the garage door is open and shut regularly...i have been looking at this for his birthday ❤
It would be great for someone like that!

It has a stiff collar around the neck that is designed to look good and add some wind resistance, plus the elastic pull for tightening.
I see the adds and was wondering about them.
Are they made in America?
Or are they just priced as if they were?
They are out of Switzerland
@dadbudgetadventures I went to the Web site, and there is no mention of where they are made.
Thanks for answering.
Good review, Thank you!
You’re quite welcome
Thank you debating if I want to want to buy my husband. Maybe.
Hope this helped.

They are really good coats
I’ve been impressed. Now if it will just get cold so I can properly enjoy it.
That's a good looking jacket
I like it and I agree that it looks quite nice.
Cory Feldman! 😂
😎
That looks great! Went to purchase one but it changed my address and it won't let me correct it!! UGH
That’s weird. Wonder what’s up with that.
@dadbudgetadventures not sure but I'm disappointed
Thanks
You’re quite welcome.
Yeah, but how many home made MREs can you stash in the pockets???
At least two whole ones. A lot of individual parts though.
What size did you get ?
I ordered the large. Typically I order XL for more room but I wanted this to fit better and it’s a perfect fit.
👍💪👏💪👍

It’s not going to be for everyone, for sure.
Since the US is an authoritarian regime now, I am unsubscribing this channel. Sincere apologies to the youtuber. Good luck.
Seems like a good reason to follow a prepping channel but you do you.
WTF does that have to do with the price of tea in China??
I'm feeling you dude, but you shouldn't take it out on all US UA-camrs.
