Here's some thoughts to maybe bring back a memory from that time. A typical axe head has a hammer side and a blade. The hammer side is much thicker steel and wouldn't have rusted away faster than the blade side. Do you remember it having a hammer side or was it single blade or double bladed? Did you use the spot finder to check the hole for the hammer end? The only way I can really see attaching the blade you found to that metal pipe would be welding it on. Do you remember any welding on the axe? Did you ever use that axe to cut wood and do you remember missing the wood and hitting the handle just below the head? (a very common thing) If so you likely inspected the handle and head, do you remember it being wood or metal? Just maybe one of these things will jar your memory. Great to see you both out there trying! 👍

Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment. Thanks for jogging my memory with those questions. I do recall that the axe had a single blade rather than being double-bladed, but I don’t remember a hammer side to it. As for the attachment, I don’t believe there was any welding on it. I can’t quite remember like you mentioned. That said, I can’t recall exactly if the handle was wood or metal, but I’m leaning toward wood. I do believe we used the spot finder to check the hole for the hammer end, but maybe that’s something to go back to again, at this point it was 6 hours of digging an I was exhausted haha
      Best,
      Jon

It's well worth a re-visit if you are not 100% sure Jon but nevertheless still an interesting and honest video. I think we all want this mystery resolving once and for all 👍😊

Clutching at straws trying to convince us that’s an axe 🤣 almost musical while you were chipping away at the rust mind…definitely needs revisiting!!

@@bluethru808 Haha, fair point! The “axe musical” might not have made the best debut with all that rust! 😂 But hey, that just means we have to revisit it for round three, maybe next time we’ll uncover some hidden treasure along with it!

That axe is so large, it would have been bigger than you back then. Plus there would be no point in you ever keeping a quick save bag on that!? I will look forward to parts 3,4,5 you will find it one day John 😂

@@paulpercival6581 Haha, you’re not wrong, it probably was bigger than me back then! And yeah, a quick save bag wouldn’t have done much for that beast of an axe. 😂 Thanks for the faith in parts 3, 4, and 5, I’ll keep digging until I find it… or until I unearth something even crazier! Thanks for watching Paul 🪓
