    You're an effective beaver trapper, I subscribed because you do show how you make your sets! I think you have a good ratio of set making and and catches going, no reason to change anything. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm 75 years old now and when I was in my early thirties I knew an old guy by the name of Babs who was one of the last full time trappers in northern Ohio. He was single up until he was 65 years old and told me getting hitched was the biggest mistake he ever made! HEE-HEE!

    I live in Australia so the only beaver I see are on vids like this . The dam was huge,More of a lake than a dam I think. It looks to cover a lot of acreage. How big would it be? and is there any idea of how old it could be? .I would imagine it took beavers a long time to build such big lodges.

  • @Nikki-my7fr
    @Nikki-my7fr 8 років тому +1

    Why do you hunt them? are they a past or are the numbers starting to impact the area or is it just for fun?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  8 років тому +1

      +Nikki A little bit of everything. I eat the meat from them and I get a little money from the fur. They also do a ton of damage to farmland by flooding fields and woods. The burrow under roads and so making roads hazardous to travel especially during the spring.

    A couple quick questions. I'm in Indiana and sometimes we don't freeze over for short periods of time. Will castor sets work in these times or do beavers not make castor mounds in the winter? Another. Do beavers move more when it warms up after cold spells or does it not matter much? Thanks.

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  7 років тому

      +Tommy Podzielinski The set will work any time of year. And as long as the water is open beaver will movd and work.

    The first one I ever caught was in a 330 on a dam break and the trigger was over to far and when I got there it was still alive and I had to club it. the second one was at the same place with a no.4 long spring on a drowning cable with a concrete block as a weight I got there the next day and the trap was gone and in the muddy water the sun shone thru and I saw the tail of a 50 pound beaver that was on Dec 3d 2017 the first was on Nov 27 2017 two days after trapping season opened 😀

    (I live in an area/country where are no beavers...so I have no idea what they are good for to catch.)

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  7 років тому +1

      Gwennydoline Hello nice to meet you. I catch them for a few different reasons. I do eat a lot of the meat from them. I sell the fur and make a little money. And they are very overpopulated here where I live.

    Do you eat them, sell parts or meat or are they pests? this is interesting

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  8 років тому +1

      +Andrew Pilafas A little bit of everything Andrew. I consume a lot of the meat and sell the pelts for cash. And they are a bad nuisance to land owners and farmers with all the flooding they do.

  • @amasoak47
    @amasoak47 8 років тому

    Is this something people do full time or to supplement income? What's the average annual income for fur trappers in Canada? I know that fur prices go up and down but I'm just curious. Also how much money do you need to start?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  8 років тому +1

      Well it's more of a hobby because you basically lose money trapping now a days because of cost of trapping equipment and such. I do it to control animal population and if I'm lucky make my gas money back. I also consume a lot of the meat from the Beavers I catch so that keeps my grocery bill down.

    I hope that in today's youtube of demonetization that they dont do that on channels that they still run ads on. That would wrong on many levels. I know that many trapping videos have been demonetized but this one still has ads running and I noticed that many still do. They shouldn't be allowed to sell advertising and not share that revenue with the channel owners
