    Dont worry about not having the right trousers. 40 years ago my British Napoleonic were Airfix Union in red coats and grey trousers. 😎

    I know others will disagree, but if you've got troops that look ok there's no point in only using them just for Waterloo. My French are a mix of late and early stuff and if I ever make a whole other army for a specific period they'll probably just be added to the others ;) Unless it's something drastic like the Retreat from Moscow with winter bases. So long as they all fight on grass they're ok with me :D

    Wow - loved the game, loved the Naps!! Surprised to see the effectiveness of conscripts shooting, it didn't seem to be a lot different from the regular/experienced troops? But I guess the numbers of troops make up for it. Looking forward to more!!!

    Nice to see the Naps out - you just need some French or preferably their allies instead. Couple of things though guys, it's 2 flags for Pas de Charge and you split the kills to groups before you roll for leader casualties (they also need to roll to come under control). Artillery crew can evade but if they fight they're line troops and lowest quality in type (they're at the bottom of the Troop Quality in Fisticuffs Table). There's also an interesting Corruna campaign in one of the specials if you're thinking of running a series (i'd need to check which though).

    Infamy Infamy, Major Cox lost his line. Artillerymen tended to be more open formations due to the large space between each gun - hence the skirmish formation.

    Great game guys, good to see a change of combatants!
    Can't believe the first game you show us with melee cavalry has them wiped out on their first charge!
    Best of all was the use of casualty markers - they made the battleield very atmospheric - more please!

    Cavalry are tricky to use in SP2. Even impact cavalry needs to pick its time and place very carefully, as in most cases people field them in single groups. I know we all have these images of men on horseback charging across the battlefield and wreaking destruction, but by the Napoleonic Era that was becoming less and less the case. Increasingly, cavalry was used to screen, reconnoiter, and mop up. Making a frontal charge at a unit that's not already suffering a bunch of Shock is unlikely to make them budge, and usually ends in a whole mess of dead cavalrymen.

    A very interesting engagement and a "near run thing" as the Peer might say. I LOVE Napoleonic SP and also play the Peninsular War ... just finishing the paintwork on a skirmish unit of the Neuchatel Battalion with their pretty yellow coats (the Canaries). I've just about completed all I need for the Peninsular and plan to start an American army for the War of 1812 to fight my Brits (and Canadians of course) here in the Niagara Peninsula. I live quite close to the battle sites for the summer 1814 campaign ... Chippewa and Lundy's Lane fame with Wilkinson, Brown and the boys from New York and New England. Thanks for the entertainment as usual!

    Good to see you boys playing some peninsular/Napoleonic wars. It’s definitely a different game compared to the back and forth of the continentals and British.
    More strategy, knowledge of how to utilise ones firepower and the advantages of terrain are what will help the British with their lack of numbers but superior discipline and training.
    While the French have the advantage in number, formations and ability to take a bit more punishment too. They win by using sending their men forward through the guns and into the enemy forcing them to concede ground and morale. Tho lots of men mean Leaders are important and I’ll disciplined troops can be a pain to fight using but when used correctly they can be just as quality as the British.
    But overall well done lads

    Nice game. The French line are somewhat under costed unless they fail their control after firing. We played a game this week where the French continually failed to move because of lack of control and resorted to ineffective long ranged firing while the Brits managed more effective controlled and aimed volleys.

    Another great game of sharp practise! A couple of points I picked up on, do you guys choose not to roll for replacement leaders when a leader is killed, I never see you do it?
    I know artillery guys can evade like skirmishers to avoid getting into fisticuffs. I guess you can choose not to but it is probably not going to end well 9 times out of ten 😉
    I also think using sharp practise has to be done with a leaders card, I think you used two flags to interrupt and do sharp practise as an extra activation but I might have got that wrong?!
    Looking forward to the next game.

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  4 роки тому +1

      Anthony UNWIN we forgot
      About the leaders. Not that we chose not to do it. Sharp practice can be done at any time. With just two flags no leader activation needed.

    Travis have played a few games of SP, when we played today one of the guys came up with a situation that we are having a problem with, he is saying that you can take a level 4 leader and change them into 8 activations so that you can load fire, load fire, load fire, load fire so has used the leaders 4 commands can’t really find anything in the rules that says you can’t do this. So can anyone help us out, I don’t think this is correct but need something out of the rules to counter act this.

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  4 роки тому +2

      John Vint it doesn’t matter how many commands a leader has each unit can only perform two actions. So load then fire. That’s it. He could use the extra commands to remove shock or command other units within his command range to activate. Just remember commands are not actions. The only way you could fire more than once is if the unit has the Sharp Practice ability and uses two flags to do it, or if you get four flags and get a bonus activation for a leader.
