That's like the 2000's version of being woke. "Don't objectify women! Boooo! Now, excuse me, I am going to watch some porn." 4:19 guys this is the same song which they were singing in YJHD in the starting when avi and bunny wake up aditi and naina(deepika) continued the song when they were stuck
Item is used aa a derogatory term for women. eg. "Check that item out!" The girls in these numbers were traditionally called items(objects) and hence item songs. Its just degrading to women that they are still called item numbers...
imo the item songs are mainly meant to be catchy and commercial. The songs are released way before the movie itself so these item songs help to grab the gp's attention. The visuals/dance aspect of it is mainly targeted towards young male audience, especially in the earlier bollywood years. People watched the film multiple times in theatres just to rewatch the song *Tip Tip Barsa Paani* (the one with the rain and actress in yellow sari). So yeah, these days its mostly meant to be a catchy pop song that helps popularize the movie for promo. The success of most movies depends greatly on its musical score. You would want people to know your song, the actors and choreo by the time the actors start doing promo stuff. Also you must realise by now that most of these dance numbers have a trademark/iconic move. You could say *Ek Pal Ka Jeena* and everyone would literally SEE Rhitik Roshan doing his iconic move. So during promo time the main cast goes around to different TV shows where their movie is introduced and they almost always have to perform a bit of said iconic song to create hype. The audience obvs has at least heard OF the song so they're more interested in watching the movie itself. Anyway, getting back to the point, its mostly these item songs that hype up the gp. Love songs can and often do achieve the same thing but having an item song is a more guaranteed thing. Once the gp likes the song and it starts playing on radio/tv there is literally no escaping it.
The item songs have always had attractive women. Then a few years ago, somewhere around 2015, this became a hot topic for debate as well that whether there should be item boys too but turned out it was very hard to get an item song with male leads right or that successful. Mostly people enjoyed female leads having an item song even women. I personally think a major reason for that is that female carried item songs are enjoyed by both men and women...I mean I love watching nora dance or any lady being that captivating. I'm just like wow she's awesome whereas guys don't enjoy watching guys dance or them flexing their bodies that much😂Another reason why women too enjoy having female leads, although it could be a stretch, is that most girls here love to dance and we try to copy them whereas it's not that common for guys to like to dance so they don't mind not having anyone to copy... Guys here are either terrible at dancing or professional dancers. There are very few who try to be good at it just as a hobby. Although we do get some item songs with male leads like ranveer singh in tatad tatad but mostly main attraction in these songs are women. And you are right... we have started getting more item songs where both men and women dance . I think it's because it's recently that male actors have also been that good at dancing. There were hardly one or two actors up until like mid 2000s who were good at dancing. Now having such good male dancers are actually encouraging guys to be interested in dance too Btw loved the reaction as always and sorry for sych a long comment.Lots of love guys ❤❤
Item songs are catchy good for marketing and it creates hype for the movie. Young beautiful womens with good dance moves, music and fashion sense attracts everyone to come and watch the movie. Item songs are mostly marketed towards young male audience imo. Much like some shoujo or a love track in a commercial film is marketed towards female audience, in most of the cases. Like item songs, sometimes in some A list actors films, even if there is no need of a love track, you can see them adding it just for the sake of it for the market. Songs like dilli wali girlfriend or bole chudiyan etc numbers like that are neutral imo. Both female and male audience watch them but I feel like mostly women consume these kinds of stuff as I feel like they are mostly into dancing during weddings or school cultural programmes etc.
Item songs are a marketing thing - sometimes they're even the main draw for a movie. Also, they're just fun (when there isnt extreme male gaze) and have everyone in the theater dancing. You should watch the movie The Dirty Picture it’s actually some of the history of the first Item girl her life& has Emraan Hashmi in it. The songs here are some of the iconic ones that have pretty big stars so there’s a level of respect but especially earlier on the items girls are really just treated like no names or girls who can’t do anything other than the sexy song. A lot of those girls never get a acting role they are just marketed as the item girl. You start to notice big actresses who start doing the items songs in the 2010s and big stars would be paid big bucks to just do an item song for a movie they aren’t in. But in general the items girls are really boxed in to do this sexy image and that’s all they’re good for. Nora is the most recent hit item girl and she gets treated pretty decently maybe cause she’s not Indian and times have changed a bit. Also earlier on guys would literally jump and holler at the theatre watching the item songs and would buy a ticket to just watch it again. In general I think the movie theatre experience is wild but item songs would sell tickets in the earlier days.
Last song is ‘Kavalayya’ from the Rajnikanth starrer tamil movie Jailer , sung by none other than Shilpa Rao !! Music director is Anirudh.. You guys should check it out
Male leads were also there as far as I remember since dileep kumar and amitabh bachhan. It's just that they are not included here. Songs like Pag ghunghroo bandh , ude jab jab zulfe teri etc etc had had male dancers. Male and female both have been dancers here.
Would love to see you guys drop a compilation of your top 10 songs from the industry! (Also the album the last song was from a movie called jailer whose music director Anirudh Ravichander overtook AR Rahman as most streamed music composer in India! - a reaction to his top songs would be cool too!)
The girl in the last songs name is tammanah bhatia , she was the same girl in the bahubali song dhivara and the original name for the last name is called kaavaala which is in Tamil u guys should react to the original
True. Dabangg was successful and popular but Munni Badnaam was a spectacular worldwide hit whose echoes resonated the globe years on after Dabangg was gone from the cinemas. Good Item songs survive past the movie.
Item songs were mostly seductive and was not culturally accepted, and we dont have the concept of item boy/men... Its just item girl! These songs really helped us accept modernization in terms of fashion! And helped us keep changing our ideology from primitive towards modernization!
So many other good numbers missing.. Chamma chamma,, ishq kameena, sharara sharara, sheila ki jawani, I think they even missed crazy kiya re, dard e disco..I think even character dheela can be considered as an item number..Also is so many from 2000's which even had great music and lyrics.. original saki saki, original dilbar, mahi ve , khalaas, dekh le etc.. All the songs of hrithik.. Male item numbers like I hate you like I love you, tai tai fiss etc and ofcourse Ram chahe leela and many more
So there's a song called Satrangi Re (featuring SRK) from the movie Dil Se, check it out if you haven't already! It's a banger plus the storytelling in it is quite interesting
Item songs are mostly glamorous, sexy dance numbers targeted towards male audience..... obviously exceptions are everywhere but item songs are basically this only.
Item's song is not about only female... But both male and females... In early 50's there are so many item numbers in which they show male and female...and there is no certain definition of items number...
am i the only one dumbfounded at how this compilation video just.. skipped past DECADES of some of the most iconic and beautiful cabaret numbers... Only 2-3 song selected for the 50s and 60s? Asha Bhosle probably had at least 1 iconic sensual number every month lol.
Wait Im peruvian and I understand perfectly the spanish in Besharan Rang (Pathaan) the first time that I heard the song. The song with weird spanish in Lele Masale of Wanted (I dont even know is that was spanish XD)
Data for men and women movie goers could be inaccurate. One they don't know who is buying from ticket window and for whom which is the majority of tickets sold in single screen theatres in India. In multiplexes with online bookings many housewives will skew the data as they can book weekend or week night show online for entire family but as a movie goer that entire set of tickets will be labelled as women movie goers
✌🏻 guys react to the last song from jailer movie 2023, you'll definitely love the music and vocals as well as choreography 🤘🏻😄💫 It's been released in multiple languages. The original version is in tamil, but all the other versions were also masterd and done absolutely in sync to the music with all the lyrics of different languages, in comparison with few other multilingual movies which doesn't much focus on the dubbing or lyrics too well. So you can listen to any of them or just best pick the tamil version of the song to have that raw feel in synchronised music. Hope you guys will definitely enjoy it. ✌🏻🙌🏻🤘🏻☺🎉
Items songs is a weird concept of indian movie industries.. and mostly done by women in the industry... these women bring glamour and kind of seductiveness through those songs.. and the lyrics are not always some of the nicest (cuz mostly it objectify a women) but the song has that factor to get popular.. in the old bollywood helen (salman khan's step mom) was famous for her item dance and today nora fatehi has taken that title..
I can safely say some of the songs were bullshit. I mean they add the ruined and remade version of Dum Maaro Dum which doesn't hold any candle to the original one. As far as Male item songs are concerned, if the major criterion is dance and attractive main dancer, Salman Khan's - "O O Jaane Jaana" should certainly have been there. Considering it started shirtless hero trend!!!!

You guys should check it out
The last song is Kavaalaa song from recently released jailer movie..I hope you guys will react to that song....this song is also sung by shilpa
Male leads were also there as far as I remember since dileep kumar and amitabh bachhan. It's just that they are not included here. Songs like Pag ghunghroo bandh , ude jab jab zulfe teri etc etc had had male dancers. Male and female both have been dancers here.
Last song name is " kaavaala ".... Actress name is tamanaa bhatia..
Would love to see you guys drop a compilation of your top 10 songs from the industry!
(Also the album the last song was from a movie called jailer whose music director Anirudh Ravichander overtook AR Rahman as most streamed music composer in India! - a reaction to his top songs would be cool too!)
Imo most streamed composer has always been Pritam etc as his work is mostly in Bollywood, unlike ARR.
Unfair item song list.. there are many many many great item numbers which not included in this video not one not 2 manyyyyy songs missing
The girl in the last songs name is tammanah bhatia , she was the same girl in the bahubali song dhivara and the original name for the last name is called kaavaala which is in Tamil u guys should react to the original
you should try watching Sanam Teri Kasam i promise you love that treasure it a wonderful movie with epic songs
True. Dabangg was successful and popular but Munni Badnaam was a spectacular worldwide hit whose echoes resonated the globe years on after Dabangg was gone from the cinemas. Good Item songs survive past the movie.
The last girl is Tamanna from Rajinikanth’s latest movie. The song is a huge hit
she is Tamanna and the song is from a Tamil movie called JAILER
I hope you could react to laal si gh chaddha's music album , its a masterpiece
Item songs were mostly seductive and was not culturally accepted, and we dont have the concept of item boy/men... Its just item girl! These songs really helped us accept modernization in terms of fashion! And helped us keep changing our ideology from primitive towards modernization!
It's Helen songs which started the trend of special dance numbers ....a lot of her songs were in this list too.
She is Tammna Bhatiya, very beautiful , talented and hot actress.
Male item numbers like I hate you like I love you, tai tai fiss etc and ofcourse Ram chahe leela and many more
Stop reacting to videos that have 5 seconds content of a song. It does nothing 😊
So there's a song called Satrangi Re (featuring SRK) from the movie Dil Se, check it out if you haven't already! It's a banger plus the storytelling in it is quite interesting
Dard - e - Disco, Dekhta Tu Hai Kya, Jalebi Bai, Tinku Jiya, Honth Rasiley, Awari, que sera sera, there are so many this list missed.
The last song is nu ka vaalaya... The girl is tamannah... Chek this out...
am i the only one dumbfounded at how this compilation video just.. skipped past DECADES of some of the most iconic and beautiful cabaret numbers... Only 2-3 song selected for the 50s and 60s? Asha Bhosle probably had at least 1 iconic sensual number every month lol.
In this compilation many songs which has been listed as item songs are not the item songs of the movies...jhumma chumma, choli k pichhe, ek do teen
You guys have to explore South Indian gems
love from india❤❤
Missed dard e disco, kali nagin k jaisi zulfain from Mann and Chamak Challo.
Wait Im peruvian and I understand perfectly the spanish in Besharan Rang (Pathaan) the first time that I heard the song. The song with weird spanish in Lele Masale of Wanted (I dont even know is that was spanish XD)
Have you heard senorita from znmd...it too had Spanish parts
@@sunflowermist23 yes, and the spanish in that one is also good, is easy to understand very good pronunciation
I love these itim iongs. they're not from different classes, they're from different masses.
Please react to mayya mayya song from the movie GURU. It is composed by A.R Rehman ❤❤❤❤
Was Sheila ki jawaani not on there??????? Or am I getting it wronh
Fun fact: *Nora - Tulsi/Neha/Jubin - Tanishq* is also known as the Tatti Era of Bollywood
Item songs mostly short way to progress story or sometimes item songs use to plot wist or some acting scene
Sheela ki jawani is not included here nd lovely from happy new year too
So many good songs left out 😢
There were a hell lot of lit songs of Helen and Aruna Irani which aren't there in the video.
How come.. "Crazy kiya re" Is not in the list..!!
Also there are plenty of single male songs including dance numbers. Maybe they didn't add them in item dance category.
U should listen to the full songs !!!!!👍
4:46 Item number is an entertaining seductive song for male audience. Why heroes would have solo item numbers?
plz guys React to Brodha V - Way Too Easy & Brodha V - Let Em Talk he just nailed it💓
Where are the "Koi Jaye toh le aye" and "jawani se ab Jung ho ne lagi" of the early 2000's
✌🏻 guys react to the last song from jailer movie 2023, you'll definitely love the music and vocals as well as choreography 🤘🏻😄💫
It's been released in multiple languages. ✌🏻🙌🏻🤘🏻☺🎉
Last dancer was heroine of bahubali (Tamanna)
please review AWARAPAN songs. They all are masterpiece❤
Also chk out the original version of Saki and Dilbar
Last song actress was tammana bhatia she is incredible dancer
Items songs is a weird concept of indian movie industries.. and mostly done by women in the industry... these women bring glamour and kind of seductiveness through those songs.. and the lyrics are not always some of the nicest (cuz mostly it objectify a women) but the song has that factor to get popular.. in the old bollywood helen (salman khan's step mom) was famous for her item dance and today nora fatehi has taken that title..
Only one southindian for complement I think their more good item songs in South India
Helan is most popular item girl, you can see her all songs and her dance moves.
Never been so early!!🎉
I can safely say some of the songs were bullshit. I mean they add the ruined and remade version of Dum Maaro Dum which doesn't hold any candle to the original one. As far as Male item songs are concerned, if the major criterion is dance and attractive main dancer, Salman Khan's - "O O Jaane Jaana" should certainly have been there. Considering it started shirtless hero trend!!!!
Chhama Chhamma song must have to be included... This is an incomplete collection by all means
Item song is basically a cabaret or seductive song danced only by a female dancer.
Where is original "saqi saqi", "pyar aya", "khalaas", or bluff master's "ek mey ek tu hay"?? Are you guys crazy? Are you guys real? I mean video compilers
Surprised non of Madhuri dixit songs in this list.. she was the queen of dance numbers in 80s, 90s and 2000s.
You missed Ek Do Teen
Movies are for everybody. Item numbers are made to appeal male audience only.
manike from thank god should have been on the list imo
Asha Bhosle is the queen of indian pop for me ❤❤❤❤
Very nice reaction
