In the previous episode Ichikawa realized his anxiety and low self-esteem, I like that although he already knows it, those anti-mental lows are still present. Realistically, just because you are already aware of your problem doesn't mean you are going to eradicate it, you just have to work on it as it is a slow process. Also, there are people who are still bothered by his attitude and way of thinking, but personally it is very well written.
I think what makes bokuyaba so special to me, and is also a turn off for many people, is that the show feels real, like way too real. Boys at Ichikawa's age do weird and kinda gross stuff because it's part of growing up. On the other hand, all of that self doubt he has is something I have experienced as well, he takes the hints and rationally thinks that Yamada probably likes him. But what if she doesn't? Taking that leap and getting over that what if is tough.

Bokuyaba became my favorite romance of all time, the realism in the series is just beautiful, the interactions between the two feel so organic and realistic that it makes me smile at the screen like an idiot, I never experienced this in so many romances before. that I have seen in my life. Bokuyaba is definitely a mutual love letter.
This one is probably my favorite episode of the first season with Ichikawa getting some development. Also, Yamada Santa has to be my favorite scene so far
