Dès les premières mesures, qui évoquent immanquablement La nuit transfigurée, on est prévenu. Voyage dans la mesure démesurée, guidé par la plus géniale pianiste du 20ième siècle.
Everything has time to sing and speak... Clear thought, phrase and voicing. Nothing is for the sake of ego - this is pure music making at its tasteful best. Yet, note the overall time of this recording is just over 26 minutes and compare! It is remarkable that everything feels so completed and not rushed, even while the speed of the fugue is at it's reasonable limit. When time needs to be taken, it is taken without apologies. Supreme virtuosity includes musicianship and the wide range of color in sound. Everything is here and her interpretation is at the deepest level of insight! Superb....
Interesting comment. Of my 3 favorite interpretations of the b minor, 2 are by women: this one by Grinberg, Katia Buniatishvili's on her debut Liszt album, and a pirated live performance by Ivo Pogorelich.
Just a nonsense comment. This is a truly great performance, but in my view the greatest recordings of this sonata remains to monumental and unsurpassed recordings by Gilels, Arrau and Richter

Apocalyptic. A pitch-black fever dream; magnificent interpretation.
THIS IS LISZT!!!! As the pure and original expression of his music. Thanks to this unique artist.
The most extraordinary interpretation I've ever heard of this Sonata!

Best Live Liszt Sonata I ever heard was Annie Fischer (in Boston, c. 1988).
It takes a great musician regardless of gender.
