You’re the ONLY poketuber I’ve seen that actually explained the game. Thank you. Everyone else is just playing and ignoring their chat
I explained some things wrong but I got the basics down at least
Yo who are you watching? Ever video I watch explain everything
U didint ONLY have kanto starters U HAD ALL OF THEM🤦🥲
"Since when does Steel resist Flying?"
Since........forever? 😅
Well, since gen 2 at least since it's when steel got added.
@@SeraidenAFhere mr. Smartypants 🍪
To be fair I didn't know that off the top of my head either lol, but yeah Steel just kinda resists... a lot
giw duzmb can a guy be
Can't you choose any of the starters?
At the start yes you get all 9 regions starters only and you can use 3 on the first run
Then after that catching or hatching pokemon from eggs you can get more to start with.
@@Axeres seems like papasea was under the impression you only get the Kanto starters
The second you start the game, yes, you can pick any combination of 3 starters. Each starter is worth 3 points and you max out at 10, so 9 is you max run one.
Then every mon you catch is added as a starter and has points, so you can start with whatever you wish after you start catching mon
Yes. And then you can get more starters, egg moves, shiny mons... It's really fun!
So a few things
You can use any regions pokemon as a starter by using the numerals on the selection screen
The Item tiers are Pokeball - Common, Great ball - Uncommon, Ultra ball - Rare, Rogue ball - Super rare, Master ball - Legendary. Some items are only available in certain tiers
6:18 I recently got a Duraladon from a random egg and OhMyArceus it was stupid powerful, and the fact that I got a Alloy around the 60-70s made Archaludon even better because I was spamming Electro Shot in rainy biomes and spamming Core Enforcer (gatcha egg move) and just sweep everything to the high 150s
Technician Meowth is great, boosting the power of fakeout and payday is really helpful. If you are able to play around it, there’s always 3 pokemon with a pink border that start with pokerus. They won’t always be Pokemon you have unlocked but if you can get them they make friendship evolutions much more viable
I wiped on Mega Ray my first run and couldn’t get back until like run 5 when I finally barely won. This game is so addicting
>"You need to get a team that can take on anything"
Nah you need to get a team that can beat 145, 195 and 200. If you can't counter their specific nonsense you're probably wasting your time.
Edit: For everyone saying ”oh you could lose to any given gym/E4 you don’t have coverage for” yeah sure you CAN. But if you don’t have a specific plan for high level Ivy and the 200 floor you’re probably losing just from brute force alone. I never once said you shouldn’t try to have coverage - maybe you can muscle your way through 145 but good luck with 195 & 200.
Not exactly true but sure bud
Ehh, anything that can beat 195 can probably beat everything else that the game throws at you, so it's *mostly* right.
Nah, you definitely need a team that's well rounded enough to deal with a lot of stuff, some of the E4 are absolutely vicious. You just need to also include counters for Ivy in that team, it's not really much different from doing a nuzlocke in a regular Pokemon game.
No, I've lost two of my best runs to 182, a randomised gym leader, first being blaine and second, molasses
@@Slaking_ never said you shouldn’t have a well rounded team but you still need a team that can counter specific, troublesome fights. Just like a Nuzlocke. Muscling through some fights is inevitable but not feasible with those fights.
Though I’m going to be real Pokerogue gives you so much early agency it’s almost a non-comparison (esp. if you’re doing a randomized nuzlocke) unless you’re actually playing it like a Nuzlocke and can’t use revives.
Thank you I've been wondering why this game's blown up on almost every Pokechannel I watch on UA-cam. It does look like the right kind of challenge many people want/need right now
For those of you who want a challenge, fake out skitty is an aeesome pick. VERY hard to use but the TM move pool is good enough to get you through early game just fine as long as you know how to maximize fake out and sings usefulness.
A few corrections just so you aren’t spreading misinformation in your future videos. You start with every starter Pokémon, generations one through 9. You can find masterball tier items, but from what I’ve seen so far you haven’t actually found any, just ultra and ‘rogue’ tier which is new to this game. 7:47 When you catch a boss Pokémon with a passive ability, you do NOT get to keep or use that passive. Passives are only active when you activate them on a starter at the beginning of a run. 8:50 this is terestalization, not dynamax. 11:03 boss Pokémon have more health and can also have passives including ivys Pokémon. 11:30 since the generation it came out. 15:02 keeping blastoise here is fine, Ursaluna would have been redundant here as you have an excadrill but it is still nice to catch Pokémon you don’t have even if you don’t add them to your team because you’ll have them as options for your next run. Also Dynamax in this game is limited to Pokémon with gigantimax forms as mentioned in the video but they are more similar to mega evolutions in that they don’t just get more heath but also buffs to other stats as well. Check the pokerogue wiki for more info on gigantimax stat changes. 16:04 soul dew in this game affects both sides of a nature. For example if I have a soul dew on an adamant Pokémon it gets a 10% boost to its attack(not including other soul dew boosts) and a 10% decrease to its special attack. Respect for making it all the way to 195 on your second run! This game gets hard.
He has a master ball item the ponk heart
It boost heals by 10%
How is he a pro player but misses some
the basic stuff like terra vs dyno
Thanks
Lakers catching a stray in a papasea vid was not in my bingo cards for the year
As a lakers fan I could’ve done without the nikola Jokic reference 😂😂
I won't lie, I was stubborn and wanted to get to the end on my playthrough so I cheesed it and kept resetting. Beat 195 through sheer "writing everything down and keeping track of what happens (as it is repeated every time including all misses)" finally got it done and got to 200, tried it for 3 resets and couldn't do it.
Team was Skeledirge, Gmax Butterfree, Diggersby/Conkeldurrfusion (yes this wasn't that good), Zarude, Ariados, and Mamoswine.
Was a good run for sure and got to 195 legit. Just was stubborn
If blastoise would just turn around i think he would hit more rock slides
I know NOTHING about battling but even I still have so much fun with this game. You can have an option to redo battles (which is good for people who suck like me) in settings and it makes me want to continue playing instead of raging and quitting. Also shinies actually do something and there’s MORE shiny pokemon! I heard that this weekend (may 11- may 12) is even a 3x shiny weekend!
My fav pokemon for classic is def excadrill. Bc you cant reliably learn the moves that you want, you have to rely more on what the pokemon naturaly learns. In excadrills case i always have swords dance, earth quake, metal claw and rock slide. Imo excadrull is bulky enough to almost always get at least 1 swords dance off every time it gets called back. So you can hit like a damn truck with those moves, no matter what type the enemy has. And ofc excadrill has a great typing + stats overall
On my 5th run (second win) i deleted 4 bars off eternatus gigantamax with 1 earthquake after 1 or 2 swords dance's and got the achievement "deal over 1k dmg in one attack"
Great vid but it was amusing seeing you call all the rare items master ball level when they weren't, but at the same time? Always great to see peeps new to the game's first experiences and love for the game. :D
I thought that’s what they were called, oops
@@PaPaSea nah, that's just the purple-named ones/rarity above the red ones, which were rogue ball tier. Still great items, tho(now if only I could find a Gyaradosite in my current run bah).
As a lakers fan I was not expecting to catch a stray like that 😂😂
Pokerouge is amazing especially for shiny hunting also you can use all gens starters from the beginning by scrolling down the gen bar above start
at the start you can scroll for all the starters
I haven't even had a run that went far except for one really good one that just ended with my team getting thrown down. My gigantamax venasaur helped so much and I even had a shiny rhyhorn I randomly caught. One day...
As a fan of Pokemon and roguelikes this game is absolutely perfect for me lol. Actually managed to get my first win today, Shift Gear Revavroom put in the absolute work.
Great vid papa!
Archaludon carries in the mid game (at least - that run is still live!) Never got past 50 until finding that goat! (I only figured out eggs after the start of this run…)
You can chose starters from up to Gen 9, id recommend using a Gholdengo (if you can find one), Skeledirge and mega Gardevoir
Just started playing afew hours ago, got an epic egg & literally hatched a Modest Latios w/ a super broken egg move 😂
Time to download this instead of NAIC prep
When I fought the Hoenn Elite 4 I somehow got Cynthia afterwards 💀
Yeah I versed the gen 5 Elite 4 only to get the gen 6 champ
i REALLY hope you know that you can choose the starters from other gens
2:53 Red is not master ball rarity, it's rogue ball rarity, one below master ball
oops I didn’t even notice the difference
Almost lvl 200 Blastoise with WATER GUN, almost 200 Talonflame with QUICK ATTACK
Anyone notice the cool transition from raywilliamjohnson back in the day
Flamigo is the GOAT
Lost to the final Ivy Boss fight thanks to my lead pokemon blunder. Was so close and Ivy kept on switching out and I became impatient and made a bad gamble and lost my only mon to tank dragon ascents from Rayquaza lol
Finally beat it, Salt Cure Garganacl was a BIG help especially against the final Boss
1:07 bro forgot to test all the buttons sadge. Fresh new account you have access to all starters from the official current released regions.
This would be cool if there was a world to run around in.
Professional Pokemon player: "since when does steel resis flying!?" 😂
If it makes you feel better, but i think the 195 is harder than the level 200.
Heavily depends on your team and on your opponents team
Yeah you can prep the end, but nothing preps you for your rivals bullshit lmao
i fucking hated his rayquaza
@@glox_ put one pokemon for stall tatics in your team and the level 200 is easy. Just use Leech Seed, Curse or Burn on the last boss and he dies pretty fast while you use a tank to wait for his death. (He is immune to Poison/Toxic)
@@tuliocolaco2045 i beat the level 200 without stall
I had g-max snorlax and ursaluna as my maine pokémon
even somebody that has never played pokemon should get pas lvl 20
ok
gonna be honest, if i played this, i would just spend my time catching stuff, and not really caring about getting to the top floor.
They have shinies too that I’ve seen people focus on catching
0:38 What's happening forum. =3
You had all 9 gen starters available.
I don't think this game will have a long life... A cease and desist from Nintendo/Game Freak will happen as soon as the geenral public starts knowing this exists.
...Guess we can enjoy it while it lasts.
That’s possible, for now it’s really fun though and easy to play
They haven’t shut down showdown after all these years. The cease and desist will only happen if the creator makes money
Just curious. Anyone know if this abley to be installed on hacked 3ds ?
No it’s a browser game not a Rom
You can play it on a phone.
Not at all what i imagined he'd look like
neat idea on paper but I expected my pokemon to keep their levels, evolutions and learned moves when a run ends. They don't. So you can't really build a team? Idk my mate hyped this up to the heavens but this reminds me of playing pokemon stadium with premade pokemon you got when you didn't have your own.
That's what makes it a Roguelike
@@NadiaX01 Yeah, people need to come into this game with the understanding that nothing is "forever". It's a Roguelike, it's not a traditional Pokemon game. And THAT is exactly what is so refreshing and awesome about it, in my opinion.
Well, that's not actually true, because the Pokemon you catch, the moves you unlock from eggs, etc, are permanent and you get to pick them after your first playthrough. You don't even need to beat Classic in order to get stronger.
You can play Classic mode as many times as you want and use many different Pokemon, of which you may not have had the chance or thought to use until playing Pokerogue.
Pretty much every Pokemon has potential, either through evolution, level up moves or the sometimes hilariously powerful egg moves.
The fun really starts when you beat Classic mode, and have many more starter options available, thanks to caught Pokemon and hatching the eggs (use the vouchers people).
And once you beat Classic mode, you unlock Endless, where you can pick Pokemon to stick with for as long as you want, if that's the kind of play style you want to do. So in that regard, your "levels, evolutions and learned moves" DO stay with you.
But yeah, again, this isn't a typical Pokemon game, it can be a little tedious to start with, but it's very fun and addictive after a short while. You just gotta give it a chance, it's completely free and easy to access, after all. You've got nothing to lose!
Game is way super fun. Took me 2 attempts to beat classic mode. It’s insane
Feel like if we like this too much publicly NintenDork finna see it
Did you.... never realize that you could switch generations to get pokemon outside of Gen 1...????
I did not
Bro forgot to scroll down
yeah
NO MORE DEX CUT IN ALL THE FUTURE POKEMON GAMES!
Watching PaPaSea let his Electivire go down early in Rival 145 made me cringe.
And btw 145 isnt even hard, if you could reach that you should be good enough to beat her. 195 rayquaza is the challenge
I can’t find it
idk it wouldnt even let me sign up tbh
Papasea you can get all the starters from gens 1-2
I'd totally play this if I didn't hate roguelikes so much.
candy jar is an ultra lock is a rogue item not masterball
oops
@@PaPaSea it’s cool to see more UA-camr play poke rogue srsly a ton of fun
"the best Pokemon game in a long time" and I can't...play it because it lags really badly on my own computer or my phone. ;w;
I had to change a setting in my browser to get it to run better
Sounds like battle frontier out of pokemon game.. i never liked the feature in the first place. Thanks no thanks
ACTUALLY THE LAKERS DIDN'T GET SWEPT
thumbnail: better than game freak
me: has an actual functioning fan game been worse than game freak?
bruh and you call yourself pokemon pro. sorry if it was mean cuz the things in pokerogue are new but not knowing that steel resist ffire is kinda complex
ok
It's just battles? Yeah, nah.
Cool video man, love this little game. But "your mama is fat" jokes are cringe at best.
🪞
IT WONT SAVE
First?
And this already sounds like crap.
I’ll stick with SV, thank you!
To each their own
Tbh this rom hack seems abit meh
It's honestly the 2nd best pokemon game I've ever played
@@AmiiboDoctor not very keen on the formula but that's cool that you like it
Not a rom hack either, they coded it from the ground up and it's played through browser.
@@SeraidenAF ohh so what is it then
@@mr.mimikyu2342 just a browser game
pokerogue is mid af. it's way too easy and gets boring and repitive fast.
theres a lot better pokemon fangames out there
How did u need see the Big 1 for gen 1 when picking starters lmao
Not better than Legends Arceus
