- Great day halibut fishing in Southern California. Didn't find any fish on the jig, but they were chewing the live baits as quick as I could get them in the water. Two fish came on Pacific Mackeral and one fish on a Jack Mackeral. Lots of shark bites to go along with some beautiful halibut.
All I can say is, these videos help me sleep, thank you

I totally get what your saying and I understand if you didn't. I enjoy seeing them since I don't get down there anymore, it is very happy place for me to go. I plan on going there in November just passing through on my way up to San Jose and of course a stop for pastry!

Thanks for watchin them! Always cool to hear. I don’t do any guided trips though. Always kinda like doin my own thing out there. Being by myself on the ocean is my happy place. It’s pretty damn peaceful.

Another great vid! Do you recommend just trolling along a certain depth contour line, depending on bait/time of year? Trying to learn how to locate flatties.
Locating them is mostly about just covering ground. Depth contours definitely are a good place to start. But if you locate bait fish, put in some time covering that ground harder than the rest.

Love the videos brotha. You've inspired me to target these fish here in San Diego (far from your secret spot, which secret is safe with me).
I've set up my fish finder rig that I got as a gift and was excited to get live bait my first time out with it. I've been using the bounce ball rig set up from MooMoo Outdoors and I'm having issues with line twist. Any advice on how to prevent that?
Right on man! Very cool to hear. For the line twist I’d say try some different 3-way swivels. I was just having a similar problem and tried some made by thundermist and they’re working great.

Nice vid, great fish. Can’t believe the double jigging didn’t produce for you 😂😂. What kind of sharks steal your bait up there? Dog fish? Btw that tar was around when we were there and it was disgusto.
Mostly leopard sharks and soupfin sharks. Some blue sharks, 7 gills, and angel sharks as well. They can be a big pain in the ass but there aren’t many around just yet. Once the big bait schools show up they’ll be close behind.

@@magnekjeldmark6838 Most of them aren’t really dangerous unless you put your hand in their mouth. Great whites live in these waters and they can be very dangerous but I rarely encounter them. And when I have they weren’t really interested in my kayak.

No, it’s natural oil seepage from the bottom of the ocean. It’s common to see bits of tar here and there and then sometimes it’s really thick. And really gross.

There’s a few brands that have the pedal drive nowadays that are like half the price of a hobie but that’s still over a thousand bucks new. I’d recommend getting a used one. Most kayaks are super durable and last a long time. So you can find used ones at a fractional of the cost that will still work great for years. That’s what I did when I first started out. Found one for $400 that worked great for years.

Sorry not gonna answer that and I never will. There’s big halibut all over the state of California. I fish here because it’s the closest beach to my house. You don’t need to come fish on my spot to find one. If tons of people all go fish the same spot it will literally ruin the fishery. No thanks.
