Deku Palace Theme Song (Zelda, Majora's Mask) - Violin Cover! | Katy Adelson

- Here is the theme song from the "Deku Palace" from the game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, played on the violin! :D This video is a little different from my other videos, but I hope you still like it. =) I believe the original song was composed by Koji Kondo. He's a really talented composer of video game music for multiple Nintendo games.
I spent a lot of my childhood playing Zelda games, and this theme song was one of my favorite songs from the series. It has a catchy melody, lots of drums, and I could listen to it on repeat and never get tired of it. I think it has some elements to it that remind me of some of the folk music that I like to play, so maybe that's why I like it so much.
I noticed that the melody could be played as a round, so I tried to incorporate that idea into this arrangement. Then I came up with a rather bizarre B part harmony to the song. I'm still not sure if I like how it turned out, but it was fun to come up with! =) Making the backing track to this was probably the most fun I've ever had making a backing track lol. It was so nostalgic listening to the song over and over again and trying to pick out the notes that the different instruments would play!
When I was around the age of 13, my friend and I played this song as a duet at one of our school orchestra concerts. We didn't play it the way I played it in this video, but we came up with a way to harmonize a little and play it in octaves. Most of my past performances are a big blur, but for some reason, I really remember the performance of this song. I was SUPER DUPER nervous (I had and still have terrible stage fright), the room and stage were really dark, and I remember a lot of the other teenagers in the audience became excited when it was announced that something from Zelda was going to be played. It felt like the pressure was really on, but then someone's pager went off...Who ever had their pager start beeping helped alleviate some of my nerves. I remember we messed up a little bit, but we got through the entire song! It was a lot of fun. Finishing playing a song after feeling super nervous is one of the best feelings. :D
I'm pretty sure The Legend of Zelda has been my favorite Nintendo series. I haven't played a lot of the newer games, but I've played a lot of the older ones! A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask are probably my favorite ones. ^_^
I suspect gaming music might be kind of a sensitive genre to explore. I hope I didn't butcher the song for anyone. :/ I'm just having fun and experimenting a bit. =)
This video was filmed in the Garden of the Gods park -- a free city park that's one of my favorites to visit when I'm in Colorado Springs.
Thank you for watching, and I hope you have a good rest of the week! :D

So many hours listening to this song as a kid, platforming my way into the palace and getting caught over and over. The music never gets old!
The Legend of Zelda has some of gamings greatest music. And Majora's Mask is one of the best! Glad to see this particularly piece covered on violin, I haven't seen it played much. It's a shame because it's beautiful, lively, and fun!
Thank you! =) I love video game music, and Zelda definitely has some of the best melodies! I was also surprised this song hasn't been covered as much -- the Deku Palace song, the Clocktown melody, and the Clocktower melody (it's actually partially Saria's Song backwards and slowed down! :o ) were probably the most memorable melodies to me from Majora's Mask. ^^ I also liked that Majora's Mask had the main Zelda melody in Termina Field.... Ocarina of Time was missing that! :o
@Vincent Isaiah a trick: stop spamming comments with this conversation.
As it turns out, when you get good enough at violin, you get to create shadow clones to play along with you
She looks so happy. it's amazing
The background beats give it that medieval vibe. But the violin is what makes this so exquisite. Sounds like smn from an old marketplace.
This is just perfect!

Thank you Peter! =) The cloning in this video was kind of tricky to do, so I'm glad it turned out okay! I was hesitant it might come across as too cheesy, but I think it ended up kind of working! ^_^
I love Zelda games!!! Nice job by the way! And nice cloning, that was cool.
Sounded so much better than I expected lol
Wow, I just searched for the song because I wanted to practice it on the violin myself and then came across this video of yours, amazing!!! Immediately subscribed your channel, I need to see and hear more of this!! Great job!
The synergism that you bring to the instrument as both a violin and fiddle is ineffably amazing. Keep playing and smiling dear Katy. 😊 🎻♫♪♫♪

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for making a normal video that's easy to watch that isn't filled with cringey video game dress up stuff, keeping it about the MUSIC. Loved it. Nothing fake about it, felt very real. No jumping across rocks pretending to be in a video game lol its nice to see people with passions for music that don't have to become overwhelmed by a stronger passion for video games but still enjoy the sources of their love in video game music.
Wonderfully done! A nice take on a nostalgic tune.
Yay! Thank you for listening! =)

So I'm guessing this track would be off limits to use in a video - even if you're okay with it?
This music is awesome, especially being into black metal you realize the music is very folkish
