So fun!!!... Christine and Richard to see your handsome son. Russ' space station segment was clever. Hope you're both are well. ;) Susan & Stephen. PS. We finally purchased our "Old House" 1838. Shes a beauty. Stephen had a Cadillac water filtration system installed, Richard would be proud. God Bless. ♡
Solar plus batteries is not an “up and coming trend” in residential, any more than indoor residential swimming pools are up and coming. Utilities will always be able to make solar or wind or storage far more cheaply and with fewer resources than a home owner. Space stations don’t have winters and cloudy days.
My lord, they nearly go full haz-mat to scrape out some putty from that window frame...hepa vac respirators, safety goggles and all, but when mixing the cement in the earlier bit, all that crystalline silica and calcium oxide dust flying around everywhere, not so much as a dusk mask let alone doing it outside!
My Hardware Store was so incompetent that they messed up cutting Plexi so I just ended up doing it myself. Thought I'd let them do it and save myself some work but they couldn't handle a simple task. Longing for the Good Old Days of competence at the Hardware Store.
We make our own double glazed window panes by using spacers and a second piece of glass. While not as good as the factory stuff, if you control the humidity while constructing it, you can get good results.
Those gloves look foreign on Tommy. You can tell by how new they are, Tommy's no glove man. His skin has made it's own protective layer after all these years.
I bought a house that was built in the 50's. The basement windows are single pane and steel frame and a steel case, both are rusting and we get tons of spiders through them. I'm guessing that I will need to rent a concrete saw to cut the old windows out before I put the new windows in. Dose anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
Tommy knows better. Could have easily replaced that window with a new unit. He’s just showcasing his glass cutting and glazing skills. Those old windows are just an open door to a cat burglar and not weather tight
That's why they had the screws in there, for security, not for weatherproofing. He did the same thing with an old door in another episode. He spent the whole day trimming the door and adding weatherstripping, when he could have installed an energy-efficient pre-hung new door in less time.
This was cool to see and learn. I could not no matter how much they scrub and clean urine be able to drink it lol, those men and women on the space station are truly hardcore... anyways another grate video than you for sharing it wish us on youtube
major Spoosh you redrink the water from your or someone else’s urine all the time on the ground, thanks to nature and or the big sewer plant. There is no new, never-used water factory.
Fan boying like whoa, STEM women are cool. We've had technology to clean up urine to drinkable water for a long time, it's just a hard sell. We waste so much water, though.
*Driest looking concrete I've ever seen.* Also, if mixing for foundations or any structural you need to do a slump test. ua-cam.com/video/zLBspIRPKJI/v-deo.html
I have been doing construction for 25 years I have never seen any professional window installer or myself use crap that comes out of a caulking gun to glaze windows. He didn't even prime the mutton that won't last a year and that caulk will be falling out! He is one huge hack!
kodiak wild Many people can’t afford to replace a broken double glass window with an entire new unit, not care to wait six weeks for a new sash from the MFN.

Excellent quality of Video thanks for sharing.
Love TOH and ATOH
Great video with a basic knowledge of DIY things and a very interesting tour of NASA and the space station.
Wow Awesome, I love the space station part that was amazing

I noticed that too. Knocking some old putty out - zero dust - Full haz-mat.
Mixing cement - dust everywhere- MAN UP!! 🤦♂️
Lead Paint
tommy is more important to the producers than kevin and the other guy.
Some glazing compound had asbestos.
I like tommys new gloves

Big yes for Jess!
yes for miss ryan at nasa.

How much time do you have after you mix the cement?
until it begins to set. depends on how much water is in it.

That was a sweet ride.
L o L Cement Soup ! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks

I would love to see Richards son become a full time member of the show some day!
No, definitely no sunshine in space! WTF.
🤣😂🤣
The chick on the glass section is very informative!
L o L. Conner Mc David could use that glass cutter cause he sure scored a lot of goals last night ! 🏒🏒🏒

What happened to the landscaping person before?
who?

that woman looked like she could snap and scream at tommy at any minute 🤔🤔
I'm here waiting for all the conspiracy theorists saying that there's no such thing as a space station or that we landed on the moon.
Yup and the earth is flat 🤪😂
what century do you think we're in? 🤔🤔

How lazy or cheap were the old homeowners? Simple fix to replace that glass, maybe $150, for a handyman. Instead they tape it up cardboard!!

What was the point of this n.a.s.a prop
Curt Cooper
Tech, Curt. Tech.
Nasa propaganda. They’ve never been to the moon.
To showcase technologies to sustain living in space and to then have a conversation about how some of those technologies can be applied here on earth.

Yes. Next question.
😂that's what civilized people do, use each other's name every now again; makes them feel like the other cares a little bit.

Recycling urine for drinking water: hope NASA doesn’t resupply them with asparagus 😩
old episodes

No kidding...always a couple of people pointing that out. The rest of us just watch the video and enjoy the content.
What everyone actually wants to know is how to repair their aging double pane windows. Replacing the whole thing is plainly ridiculous.
some people like new windows.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Double pane windows are "new" at least compared to those.

penguins forall Can’t DIY double glass. The between space has to be vacuumed down and filled with a dry gas like Argon.
Lol space station
Lol why ?
august The Station tech has nothing to do with “This Old House”, nor even modern housing. It’s a Fan Boy trip
Does the producer have amnesia or something? You guys are replaying old stuff as "new" stuff for these episodes
Kevin Fisher
They never claimed any part of it was new. There is always someone out the pointing this out. Try focusing on the positive.
