Awesome machine, something about these early 90’s KXs is just special. Kawasaki knew what people wanted, evident in the enduro KE100 kept in the same form for over 30 years. Great review!

Keep up the great work. Reminds me of my teenage years when you do these early 90’s bikes.

I'm not saying they're the best brand but that lime green has a grip on me. I had an 88 and 98 250. 84, 91, 94 and 02 125's. I find your review to be very agreeable.

Thanks for the upload. I sure wish I had kept my well worn Dirt Bike magazines from the 80's today. Was this the same frame they switched over onto the last edition KDX200 as well? After 1990 I wasn't as much into following the newest things as life moves on. I'm 52 and started riding when I was 8yrs old on a 1970 Honda SL70 and was hooked..Also very fortunate to live in the farm country and live on one to have the room. My favorite growing up and newest I ever purchased..it was a 1982 Yamaha IT250,,it was 6 months old and the rider went back to moto x and purchased a new KTM 250..Loved that bike and kept it longer than any in those years. I did have two open class mx bikes 77 YZ400 and 83 CR4800r as well growing up as well as Honda XL bikes to ride to work and school. Big fan of the old big 4 bikes from that era of my younger years. I even raced enduro for a few seasons and some MX..I still ride today on my KTM690 enduro R..getting ready for a smaller on/off road again however due to the weight and my age....mmmm KTM 350 perhaps..lol.

The KDX frame is similar in design but the two frames were not actually related

I love my 90 kx250. In a straight line it will hang with any modern bike, well as long as it hooks up. Turning, well that's a totally different story.

You really have to squeeze your legs tight to the tank, make sure you ride with knee guards and rip it.

I just bought a 1990 Kx250. I love it. Only thing I would complain about is the way Kawasaki desided the kick should be. It feels weird to kick that bike. Easy to slip on it and it starts almost 40 degress lower then any bike I've owned before.

I just bought a 1990 kx250 two weeks ago myself. Man it's such a beautiful machine spend so much time looking at it . I love that it feels bulletproof and power band that's either off or on like a rocket

Yes it kicks over much lower/the top than I think other 2 strokes do almost feels like no compression feel to it the way the kick start works

One of the most powerful down low motor kawasaki has ever made.

Down low? Dude the 1990 Kx250 was a Honda clone. Mid and top power. I own one, I KNOW THIS okey.
1991 they went back to that typical norm boring Kawa power low to mid.

I always dig your videos! Thanks for posting. Their perimeter frame was a funny thing. My '00 KDX 200 felt credit card thin to my '93 Yamaha WR 250.

Great review as always. Was just getting into dirt bikes in 1990 and vividly remember that Holy Kaw ad. Still my favorite looking bike, and ad, of all time. And nothing screams 1990 like Chicken in his “web” fox gear, leaping the 250!

I had this bike and really liked it then bought the 94 when that came out. The 94 bike didn't really feel much faster than this but it felt tiny compared to it like riding a 125 handling wise.

Late 80s into 90's ended the 2 strokes for the big 4 - thankfully KTM has kept the 2 stroke going.

    • @michaelnesbitt4260

You mean late 90’s to early 2000’s is when the four strokes took over but Yamaha suzuki and Kawasaki still make two strokes . The only one that doesn’t is Honda
