Not only his playing, even his stage presence is stunning. The masculine, elegance, passionate behaviour of him... All of them makes him attractive. I have never seen a person looking this good on stage. Not need to mention his playing skills since it is already marvelous. Hope to see him in person for once. I will support him in my life forever!
Twosetviolin takes me here ❤️. Your music is very adorable, It’s definitely refresh myself. I have to put more effort into my study to have emotional songs.
@@thatviolingirl9879 Yes, you missed video where Benny came to Twosetviolin guys. They have compared $10 million violin to regular professional grade violin those guys play. He has showed incredible ear. He has such attention to detail, it mind bugling. That video is a true master class for violin plankton.
Unlike a previous commentator, I find the balance between soloist and orchestra to be just right. This is a great performance. Surely high among the 'best ever' category. Every soloist was equal to the piece.
This is the first time I am hearing this piece and as a non musician it seems so complicated. The entire orchestra did a fantastic work. Benny is just amazing like when you see him play , it looks like its so easy to play which in real is definitely opposite. Just my favourite violinist slaying in this video. 🔥🔥👏👏
I somehow stumbled upon this video and it's absolutely amazing! The violinist and the whole orchestra did amazing. Just like you i am a non musician as well but this was soo captivating and intriguing that i didn't want it to end at all. Kudos to all of you for such a splendid performance.
To me, this concerto has ascended the scale of greatness gaining on Tchaikovski, Mendelsohn and the like. It is the astonishing contrast between the serene 2nd and 3rd movements. It reminds me of Brahms 2d piano cto. between the 3rd and 4th movements. After a sonorous otherworldly tranquility we are awakened to a lively back to reality
Benny, the more I listen to this concerto, which was previously unknown to me - great orchestra, and such heartfelt introduction of the main themes in the first and second movement by clarinet and oboe, by the way, and such good harmony with your playing, so kudos to the conductor! - the more I feel reminded me of a comment Sviatoslav Richter once made about "intellectual honesty" in technical interpretation (with regard to Natalia Gutman). Somehow, I think, I can sense what Barber felt through your playing, including that rather fast third movement (so much going on!). It's just an incredible feeling of, say, unity of composition and performance, or as Celibidache would have put it: it is just so! It's a very rare chance to feel this, especially on a live recording. Can you share any of your feelings, unless it's too personal, of course, with us UA-cam listeners?
Benny, your two solo pieces after 15:30 are sooo outstanding in their emotional depth, i am wondering what you felt when you played it. It's wondrous! Thank you!
@@aaronnam1444 there’s no easy way to say this, but you’re wrong. This isn’t bad, but I’m not going to save it and listen again. It’s a 7/10 at best. Now adagio is an easy 9/10 and an easy save.
@@DingleberryPie I know what your saying. I just appreciate samuel barbers poetic musicianship. Have a great day! I hope we always strive to find our own path!
Absurd that the composer did this for $1000 haha. These sounds create such nice and complex feelings. Like the feeling of a really great memory but coupled with the knowledge that it's all temporary or something.
Actually, he only got $500. Because there was some dissatisfaction with the work from the violinist it was intended (particularly the last movement), he didn't get the other $500 on completion.
Hint: There is only one soloist in the concerto, it would have been improved if the orchestra maintains a lower profile in the background. Certainly for Samuel Barber. Thanks for the sharing.
The interplay between violin and oboe soloists in the Adagio 2nd movement is one of the most beautiful moments in any violin concerto that I can ever remember. The performance of these two artists is truly wonderful in this offering.

Have you heard Barber's adagio for strings/adagio/agnes dei? Sibilius' Op. 47? Vivaldi's 4 seasons? You need to calibrate ;)
