I met her 10 years ago during a q&a / signing after a show. I said I enjoyed her music since her first album came out, and asked about the tuning of a song that I couldn't get by ear. She glared and said "It's just dadfad" reallly snarky and pissed off. I guess she thought it was a stupid question because it was standard slide tuning. Anyway, that was pretty funny to hear someone say "dad-fad" in a voice dripping with contempt.
I saw a review complaining about the pickup and body being sensitive to sounds/scraping, and bam, she literally uses it as a perk. Never fully trust reviews, make your own judgements. I love my ovation.
I had heard fender bought ovation guitars and they were being made outside the us. the inventors son bought it back and are making them in Connecticut again and has made some improvements. My 78 still plays great!
I actually help pay for Kaki's first Adamas. Her dad was a member of the same Ovation Fan Club group and asked us for donations so that he could buy her an Adamas guitar. I was so happy she turned into a great guitarist.
Cool story bro. I just saw Kaki live a couple of weeks ago, and she was telling the audience how her first Adamas was one that her dad had for years, and gifted her when she went to college. Interestingly her second Adamas was a gift from ovation after her first one was stolen from her New York apartment.
I watched this. I went and got my Ovation, put it in my chair in front of the monitor and told my guitar to pay attention, then played this again. Will that do any good? Time will tell.
I just bought a new Ovation Celebrity CE 48 P-TGE Tiger Eye Maple 🍁 , Super High Quality And Tone And Sound Characteristics Are Professional . Keep The Humidity In The Guitar Case At 48 % .
I have never heard of this girl but she is awesome. Have been an Ovation fan since seeing Melissa Etheridge for the first time in 1988, but have yet to buy one. I think I need to...
Some yes, because mine is stainless steel already and it is superb sound tone plus comfortability upon good care for almost 1 decade already set up fine still but the downside is the electronics "piezo" because it shorted already looses; this guitar is better playing unplugged on cable but if i want and you want to use it on amplifier or speakers' mic'd up infront on it is the key or much comfortability by using clip on wired or wireless pickup mic that clip on the particularly good spot hear sound.
Hi James. It would be best if you go to our website and you can see what we have to offer. www.ovationguitars.com the current Kaki Model is made overseas. We also offer American Made Ovations as well. Check it out. 😁
Their made in the USA it’s ovation and I like the 1778 elite tx great sound,Sitka spruce top and x scalloped bracing I recommend the 1778 over any other that’s just my opinion
They don’t sound great unplugged. Very ridged to play. If your in a loud band and worried about feedback it may be a good solution...but there are other options.
@@thechronicnoizeco.6675 I have a ‘67 Josh White Ovation and a Custom Adamas that are both stunning acoustically. They are every bit as good as any high end boutique guitar (I have two different Lowdens in the house and the Ovations are as good. They don’t sound the same as each of the four has their own tonal character but, all sound absolutely lovely.)
@@DanielC__ it’s not a very “acoustic” acoustic guitar. I find it very ridged and bland sounding. I’m sure it works great for her percussive stuff but there are much better sounding guitars.
It turns out that an acoustic guitar player needs to grow such nails on the right hand. I've been trying hard on the wrong direction. No wonder I have big trouble catching up these pros😂
I've always wondered why so many lesbians are drawn to "acoustic only" guitars and acoustic guitar music. Anyone have any theories? This is not a lesbian slam but just an observation as a musician.
Xcorgi my theory is that some do it to pick up girls because thats usually how guys do it: with an acoustic guitar. But I have noticed that a lot of lesbians like Ovation guitars for some reason.
As a lesbian I just like good guitars - acoustic and electric ! Though perhaps finger dexterity does favour complex finger picking ... Seriously !? sexuality has nothing to do with love of music !
Ah.... Ms. King, I want to know why I should buy an Ovation guitar.....not how you play the drums on the guitar. And, if you have to play the drums on poor dear Ovation, you would sound better using drum sticks (the one we play, not eat) ! Most of the so called experts, present their talents in playing or performing. We know you are talented and play well, that's why Ovation hired you, in the first place. So that you would explain the guitar in detail. Please, use your hands to play the guitar and NOT drums and explain to us the various aspects of Ovation. Can you ?
Kaki started on guitar as a young girl. She talks in other interviews that she played drums as a teen, and thought they would be the instrument she 'made it' with. Wasn't until late teens that she got back into guitar. She even incorporates drums into her live shows.
Don Lessnau its supposed to be "about" her, its HER ovation, so the company is interviewing how she learned how to play guitar and why she chose the adamas to play as her signature model and instrument. This video was made for her and her guitar
First time i've listen to Kaki was in a movie called "Into the wild". Since then i've never stopped to listen to her. Her music is amazingly good.
the percussion elements she does with her fingers are really impressive
also just disgustingly good
Not new at all. A black guy used to play jazz like this in the 70's touring, sorry don't remember his name, he was WOW!.
Her?
She has amazing talent and that Ovation guitar is such a fine instrument

Fantastic musician. I first got into her sound from a movie called August Rush. Beautiful arranged delivery of a great melody.
Hell yes glad ovation is back
I had heard fender bought ovation guitars and they were being made outside the us. the inventors son bought it back and are making them in Connecticut again and has made some improvements. My 78 still plays great!
Love her innovative approach!
She rocks! We know why we love Ovation guitars! Especially those from 80's 90's
I actually help pay for Kaki's first Adamas. Her dad was a member of the same Ovation Fan Club group and asked us for donations so that he could buy her an Adamas guitar. I was so happy she turned into a great guitarist.

Four years have passed, how did that go? :-)
😂
Love her style, and she's looking great as a blonde!!!!
I remember my first guitar teacher introducing me to Kaki and I was blown away. Such a talent.
She's so amazing!
I just bought a new Ovation Celebrity CE 48 P-TGE Tiger Eye Maple 🍁 , Super High Quality And Tone And Sound Characteristics Are Professional . Keep The Humidity In The Guitar Case At 48 % .
awesome guitarist
"Sounding unique on an instrument that millions of people play." Now there's a quote!
I have a 1978 Adams’s with the original case and signed by its creator Charles Kaman inside on the label.Still sounds great
Mine is a '79
She is an absolute genius.
The charming and talented Kaki King
Always liked the look of Ovation. Finally got a used one and love it! Only wish is for a wider neck to facilitate finger style better.
I have never heard of this girl but she is awesome. Have been an Ovation fan since seeing Melissa Etheridge for the first time in 1988, but have yet to buy one. I think I need to...
Awesome player!!
She's pretty good (yes; that's a severe understatement).
Do ovations use big jumbo frets?? And is any preamps with mics in these guitars? Or just piezo?? Thnx❤

I really want that guitar.. but what is most important is the time to develop the skills to have joy while playing.
I like this Girl. Yeah Baby! Live it Love It.
3:06 name song?
1:02 playing
which song is at 3:30
Francisco Fregona It Runs it Breathes or something like that
remind me animals as leaders beautiful parts with an impressive overall sound
Oh, babe, you're new. Kaki is old.
is that model ovation or Adamas and is it made in the USA is there a better model ovation for the same price .would appreciate some information

Just bought a celebrity CS24P Koa from Bently Guitar Studios with elixer strings absolutely love it
😄
Nice guitar, ...........
what is the music ? 1:35
I've heard that the rounded back of the guitar provides a different soud, is this true, and if so what difference does it make??
They don’t sound great unplugged. Very ridged to play. If your in a loud band and worried about feedback it may be a good solution...but there are other options.
I've played around on a few and liked the sound and I'm picky myself regarding an acoustic guitar's sound @@thechronicnoizeco.6675

I like her and her music but i’ll never play an Ovation again. Ovation is very, very lucky to have her endorsement.
Why?

Классная девочка и Адамас хорош!
🎸 😄
I like it guitat OVATION custom elite
Wide neck. Hybrid acoustic/electric.
nice video
pozdrav
very cool !!!!!!

that's dependent on the style and personal preference as to what feels the best and what sounds the best to the individual.
how the F... she get that sound on ovation guitar??
No more angry kid look, now she has the angry punk look.
...bilo bi lepo da nesto i odsvira ...npr. love for sale...desafinado...blue bossa...night in tunisia...itd.
Am I the only one who thinks she looks
like Pagan Min
Travis Retemyer I agree

She needs a drum, not at guitar LOL
I always said she was more of a good drummer than a guitarist.

Self-absorbed nonsense. this vid is a whole lotta nothin except King talkin about herself.
Don Lessnau well that is kinda what you should expect from a video titled "kaki king"

Maybe you missed the title? Watch something else.
God forbid a talented and accomplished woman talk about herself!
THIS DAMNED VIDYA CALLED KAKI KING IS ABOUT KAKI KING WHAT THE HELL
That's one ugly guitar. Period.
