Common red flag I've learned to look for when my friends talk about their relationship is when they say "but they can be really good to me" or Emily's "but when it's good it's really good". Being someone with BPD, Jon's non-chalant "she's just some girl I shouldn't care much about her" really feels weird as an approach to take. Every relationship is a "if this falls apart my world is doomed" kinda feeling, and so when stuff like this happens, it is just... crushing
If there's one thing I'll never be nostalgic about is the horrible sound of the 56k modem connecting. It's the sound of taking literally a week to download 50mb, sometimes being blessed with a corrupt file.
Death Cab for Cutie, Jon. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE! Angst, emotion, etc. Song was "Brothers on a Hotel Bed." Snow Patrol, "Hands Open." You like Sk8er Boi but you have some gaps in your music knowledge!!! Also! In the US, we use the same names for the 4 years of high school and the 4 years of undergraduate. Freshman - 1st year Sophomore - 2nd year Junior - 3rd year Senior - 4th year
Someone may have explained this but for me, college is the same as University. They're used interchangeably and you start at 18 normally. (Or like, a university is a collection of collages. Like, my university has the collage of arts, education, business, music, and visual and performing arts. They're all independent colleges under the same University.)
There was an "...is typing" function in AIM though I'm not sure when it started. First it would only show when you were "Directly Connected" but eventually it worked for everyone all the time I believe.
While college is distinct from university in the US, you attend both after graduating high school (so about 18-19 years old for each). The only difference is college is typically only for up to a Bachelor's for those who live near the campus. Since most people only get a Bachelor's in the US it isn't uncommon for both terms to be used interchangeably, though.
Hey Jon, it's my birthday! And since I'm 42, I'll tell you how it went. MSN messenger turned into windows live messenger. All 3 ( yahoo, msn, and aim) are dead. I *think* aim died last. It died in 2017. ICQ is still alive. Every messenger program you loved is dead.

We were getting new tech stuff with a big delay. I still remember playing gta 3 on our pc in 2008, barely hitting 20 fps, the same year gta 4 was coming out. And internet connection - outside school it was super rare, only few people I knew had it. We got ours at the end of 2011 for the first time Also I really liked this game when I played it few years ago

"that's distinct from university, isn't it?" no, college and university are used pretty interchangeably, with 'college' as just a catch-all term for universities and colleges both. (for example i've only ever attended universities, but i always refer to them as like 'when i was in college...' that's just how it goes.) and you'd be 18 at a bare minimum.

honestly i *had* msn but me and my friends never really used it.
I continue... to not feel this game lol. I played it as "what if im not interested" and it fell apart.
Being someone with BPD, Jon's non-chalant "she's just some girl I shouldn't care much about her" really feels weird as an approach to take. Every relationship is a "if this falls apart my world is doomed" kinda feeling, and so when stuff like this happens, it is just... crushing
So now I get entertained and feeling old at the same time yay
Freshman - 1st year
Sophomore - 2nd year
Junior - 3rd year
Senior - 4th year
"You could like U2 that'd be worse" I knew I liked your channel for more than just fallout and total war content! :D
Half teenage nostalgia, half reliving a nightmare, all really cool. Great video! 👍
this game is so depressing because it feels so real
oh you gotta do the others! this was suprisingly interesting to watch!
Jon is always rolling perception 1...
The best part of this video is that Jon went through half the game waiting for Emily to be kidnapped
jon pronouncing it sofomore is amazing
I'd like to see you play the sequels :)
Jon totally get going for a walk and lying down should lead to kisses... But misses the connotations of drinking alone with a girl in your dorm...
Interestingly, AIM was officially discontinued by AOL in 2017, however it has been rebooted as a service by a non-for-profit team
Oh the nostalgia...
Love this game. Don't know how you missed it till now
While college is distinct from university in the US, you attend both after graduating high school (so about 18-19 years old for each). The only difference is college is typically only for up to a Bachelor's for those who live near the campus. Since most people only get a Bachelor's in the US it isn't uncommon for both terms to be used interchangeably, though.
Jon:
College IS university in the states. 1st year is freshman year, 2nd year is sophomore year, 3rd year is junior year, and 4th year is senior year.
If you don’t remember the sounds from the start, you’re too young, go back to sipping your bottle, you children. 👌🏼😂
Jon coming in with some wisdom I wasn’t really expecting. But he’s not wrong.
What's worse than Coldplay on your MySpace is a Midi file of Coldplay on your MySpace, with animated gifs and an Under Construction banner at the bottom.
i remember all these sounds, i feel rather old now ugh and omg teletext dear god yes.
Jon, in America College and University are synonyms. There's nothing in between High School (*almost* universally grades 8-12) and pursuing a degree.
I like that its around 10 years "older" technology than me, being from 1999, but I still totally get it and remember it - pros (or rather cons) of living in the backwater of second world. We were getting new tech stuff with a big delay. I still remember playing gta 3 on our pc in 2008, barely hitting 20 fps, the same year gta 4 was coming out. And internet connection - outside school it was super rare, only few people I knew had it. We got ours at the end of 2011 for the first time
Also I really liked this game when I played it few years ago
Thank you for considering my suggestion for this game on twitter
The beginning of this reminded me of my childhood, those sounds.
Same bro, Windows XP and Vista
I forget I’m basically the same age as Jon until he does stuff like this and brings up teletext and msn messenger, next it’ll be Bebo’s glitter backgrounds and myspace bands that disappeared after myspace died
I hesitate to even mention this but I started with a Prodigy account back in '89 or '90. I think I switched over to AOL around '92. Technically, I still have an AOL account floating around somewhere because I never bothered to cancel it, lol.
AIM was still big up through 2004. I recall this only because I used AIM all through college, and it kinda died at the end of my college time in 2004
"that's distinct from university, isn't it?" no, college and university are used pretty interchangeably, with 'college' as just a catch-all term for universities and colleges both. (for example i've only ever attended universities, but i always refer to them as like 'when i was in college...' that's just how it goes.)
and you'd be 18 at a bare minimum.
