    i always wonder if these coordination exercises using atonal scales are useful. does it make sense more than practicing say the same pattern transposed to major or minor scale or a mode that’s used more often, i guess you could argue playing something more “complex” works out your mind and fingers, but does it make you better player? what do you think?

      It’s all useful, and there’s a place for everything. These things develop equal strength and control for all fingers, which is great. You can also show this to people of any level and they can do them without knowing scale yet, etc. thank you!

    why is it important to only use alternate picking?

      Hello, Alternate picking is the basic technique for guita playing with a pick. I always encourage people to take it to a good enough level where they can rely on it to play pretty much anything. Andre
