Hey Matt, another great video. I already asked you about the small Dagger Code for somebody in my weight range (135lbs) and you suggested some other options because, like you, I'm kinda between sizes for that boat. Is the Stoke a good option to look at you think? I'm paddling UK grade 2/3 with little bits of 4 but looking to develop and move up to more consistent grade 3/4.
Great info Matt - thanks. I wanted this boat to suit my size, but at 205 and the bigger water I live on this is obviously not for me. Looks like a sweet, fast creeker for someone in its size range though.
Ive read that this is a good option if youre a bit big for M scorch, so surprised you think this is a small/medium. Which river/creek boat w would you recommend for a 180lb person? For g4 and harder.
So, apparently I grossly exceed the weight limit for this kayak even though Im only 220lbs. Why would they make a boat like this? Or why would they make a larger size? Plus it's 92 gallons. How is that not enough for someone my size?
It’s a shorter boat so your weight is not distributed like it would be in a longer kayak. Waka doesn’t make 3 sizes unfortunately. Never go by suggested weight ranges. Most boats are designed by medium weight kayakers and they are literally guessing at a weight range.
Hey man. Off topic but figured you’d have the answer. Is the Nova or the Mixmaster more balanced on the stern? Like for stern stalls. I’m 6’ 170lbs. I felt the supernova was too big. I fit comfortably in the nova. I’d probably go with the mixmaster 7.5 if I went with Jackson. But I’m leaning towards the Nova though. Wouldn’t mind your opinion on which one has better river running capabilities as well.
I think they are about equal in stern stalls and river running. The nova surfs a lot better than mixmaster. Personally I like the loki over both it is very very good downriver and creeking and easy to slice as well. It’s just very uncomfortable. The best stern boat is the ozone but it’s not the best for much else. I think the nova for downriver at your weight would give you fits in something big. But if your just playing you’ll be fine.
@@DownstreamVyeah my cousin just got a medium Loki. He’s like 5’7” 150lbs and likes it. I was immediately uncomfortable in that boat. I’ve heard it’s an all around great boat if you can fit in it. But I know I wouldn’t paddle it much because of the discomfort. I really would never paddle the full slice on anything harder than class 3. I’ve got a firecracker and a scorch for harder runs. So I’m thinking nova just for ease of getting the ends down. I would definitely want to surf a bit as well so if it’s got the mixmaster beat there then it might be the way to go. I’ll have to demo them. Just wanted your opinion. I appreciate the response.
Awesome review from someone that’s paddled the stoke that was spot on!
Thanks man !
When people ask me about a boat, I tell them check out you and Wade
Thanks for the long time commitment to watching our videos !

The stoke is very very wide up front so I wouldn’t recommend it for a smaller person.

Sorry about that. While you could paddle it I don’t think it would be ideal at that weight. That’s just my opinion though !
@@DownstreamV I agree...and since I picked up a Scorch L that fits me perfectly, I'm not losing sleep over it ;-)
Yellow wakas are a little bigger. I paddled red for years bur switched to yellow this year. You can feel the difference.

This for sure seems smaller than a medium scorch. 180 is in the range of a medium code, OG, puffy steeze, Zet cross, rmx 86, medium scorch
Thanks, will look at these. Have M scorch and feel am too heavy on powerful water.
Good stuff
