Warm Regards,
Destin
He's a triple amputee and he uses his turn signal.
People in the US, please take the 0.5 seconds to move your finger 1 inch to let me know you're turning.
We can't read you mind.
Amen
There's really no reason to use them on HWYs and interstates
except to let traffic know your intention. maybe not so critical for exiting, but I hate you if you don't use it to indicate a lane change and I'm right behind you.
use your turn signals.
ubuntututorials
I just use it all the time. It's easy to form habits if you do something all the time.
***** exactly, it's not as if it's much effort.
I think the manicure joke is universal among amputees, I'm missing a finger and they won't give me 10% off.
I hope you are not missing a middle finger :D
Freaking con artists
I think it makes sense that the cost of a manicure isn't propotional, so doing 5 nails would cost more than 50% of 10 nails. Still, they should give you like a 25% discount at least if you're missing a hand
wonder what they would say about a pedicure?
Balding men don't get discounts on the barber either.
that guy got a great personality
Kenny is SUPER awesome. He occasionally streams games on twitch: www.twitch.tv/ihavenolegs88
David Vobora is also super awesome. Check out his instagram at: instagram.com/davidvobora/
sweet I will follow him on twitch :) thank you very much :)
+SmarterEveryDay you're the goat
+SmarterEveryDay ok
I made my first science video on my channel!
dude I want to see some more of that gym and the equipment!
OTT is awesome!
Same
Same!
100% I'm down +SmarterEveryDay
That would be amazing!
Great video...I always wondered how that would work. I would love to take that apart too to see how it all works.
I was born with a physical disability and I laughed hard at "this is where we punish cripples"
This makes me so happy. We're on the same wavelength.
They won't let you just buy one shoe either, the jerks!
I really enjoy learning with you Destin, thank you.
+
Sean C a+ joke there lol. good living and i hope you are living well you are a warrior for living with a disability like that
I hope it's OK that I gave directly to ATF. A former coworker of mine was a wheelchair user (please don't say "confined" to a wheelchair - he was "liberated" by it). He visited a gym that was not accessible and that made no attempt to say how they could help him. Nor were they honest in admitting they couldn't help. They merely wanted his money. He declined their "offer." And that's not uncommon. It's truly gratifying that Vobora has taken the initiative in treating people as people.
PS I'm also a veteran but I served Stateside only from 1970 to 1972.
"Come to Jesus Machine because you WILL whisper the Lord's name."
I died..
rip
My condolences
I'm gonna start a comment war...
Jesus is real
*was
That's true; there's a lot of people who's name is Jesus
I super duper loved it when he said we punish cripples. I am crippled
LOL, you get it. With that one phrase David instantly lets you know that the relationship that he and Kenny has goes beyond political correctness. It's a solid bond with a firm foundation in mutual respect. Amongst all my friends, if we're not making fun of each other then something is wrong. As soon as he said this in front of Kenny, I knew that what they had at the Adaptive Training Foundation was completely different, and completely awesome.
Political correctness was a good idea that went way too far. I too loved that phrase, because you KNOW that dude was absolutely NOT being offensive
I love that too. I'm epileptic and one year ago had an implant inserted into my brain. None of my friends were afraid my disease before hand and after my surgery none of them were scared of it. They were all supportive and now jokingly call me a cyborg and tell people to watch what they say because I'm recording information for the government. I love it.
I loved it, I have 1 leg, Left AK, and 5 kids. Gotta keep rolling.
Robertlavigne1 you got it brother, it's also fun to make jokes about it when new people are nervous and unsure, I like to watch them sweat.
This video is absolutely incredible Destin. I was born with Spina Bifida and have always driven with hand controls. But last November 17th i had a bilateral below the knee amputation. Havent had a vehicle since, and honestly didnt know stuff like this existed. Its so awesome to see.
Ive been looking for a gym like this in Australia for so long! You're awesome Destin, keep it up.
Just google one
Destin, I’ve recently found your channel and think you’re awesome. Then I saw this video and it totally shook my concept of who you are. Thank you. As a guy with a service related injury, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video. We owe everything to the men and women that have gone and come back a different person, whether mentally or physically. For you, seemingly a rocket-quantum-mechanic-physicist to give this video a platform, you’re a much better person than I ever gave you credit for. Thank you for being humble and kind. God bless you and your family. Thank you for being who you are.
This is awesome! Currently learning to drive myself 😄 i have a disability and i relate to what he says about it giving you freedom.
I hope you get your license so you can pick me up and drive me places because my sister is about to get hers and she says she won't take me anywhere :(
Not even to school
Do you hate school bus?
Just Chilling Yes.
What kind of disability?
+Radicoly I have a neuromuscular disorder. So i still have all my limbs but I can't move around properly.
Great video,I have a friend who is essentially a quadriplegic from a military accident and he's got 2 vans now.One is on a 4x4 chassis and its really changed his life.Another thing has been he's realized he's not alone and since he was injured before most Veterans these days he was in a position to help them and in return it has really helped him.
The 31 people who have thumbs downed this video are Dumber Every Day
lol
True. XD
👍👍👍
Thumbs up for you sir!
You sir, deserve a cookie!
I'm attending the last year of my Master's Program in Biomedical Engineering in Italy and I opened my (italian) channel to talk about these things to my compatriots. It is REALLY cool to me to see this video. I REALLY love what you do! Thank you so much!!
Super cool. Does it cost as much as any other gym?
Destin, I just have to say that I've been dealing with some pretty severe depression lately and, when you said, " There's a mechanical linkage there. Man, I wanna take your truck apart so bad!" You actually brought a lingering smile to my face. Thanks man. Your videos mean a lot to me.
Watching him unscrew his hand is so badass!
Great vid as always Destin. The adaptive training gym seems like an amazing resource for "disabled" men and women to get back in the proverbial saddle. I would like to see them in every major city worldwide. Also that truck setup was super cool. Keep the great work, I always look forward to your videos.

He has a life away from UA-cam. If you want a channel that delivers every day check out a channel like SciShow :)
He wants to inspire the viewer towards the idea of getting "Smarter Every Day." It isn't just referring to what he shows and teaches us.
i know what you mean but the channel name is clever yes but misleading lol. its more like smarter once a month
+mfizze your one of those people that complains about a $10 pizza when the sign said from $5, arnt you.
Never heard that one before...
At 6:13 you can see the prosthetic knee I repair for a living!
I love doing that.
i wished this video was longer! really enjoyed it
I love this so much! I have spinal cord/disk injuries (Syringomyelia at C7 with disk protrusions and mild rotary scoliosis, bulging disks from L4-S1), carpal tunnel (both wrists but just had surgery on my left), had a previous surgery for tennis elbow (right side, service related discharge) and it's been so difficult finding a workout that I can do but you just gave me the answer to my problem!!
That is some serious price gouging on that little scissor lift. Even with sensors to minimize crushing and a custom platform, I can't see how it adds up to $8,000 USD.
it's also probably low volume or custom
when there is a human involved things get expensive...
It always becomes ridiculously expensive as soon as you can call something "medical" or "therapeutic", my cousin's son can't walk propperly so they had to get him this walking aid, very similar to the ones old people use to get around, It's basically a bunch of aluminium tubes with some wheels and a bench in the middle, something you could probably build yourself for maybe 100 bucks. Yet since it's a therapeutic instrument they charged 2000 euros for it...
Walther White Ya its kinda sad...
I think it's more so making these medical and therapeutic equipment requires passing the standards and registered a certificate for it. and those cost loads of money, which resulting these "could be so cheap" equipment price raise by 10 fold
I am soooooo sharing this video ! ! ! !
usually i don't go on audible because i prefer reading than listening but you really made me want to support that great initiative !
aw man! you cut out the part where he gets off of the scissor lift and into the driver's seat! :(
I have subscribed to audible because of your recommendation.. and loving it. I have a long commute and need audio books to keep my brain going.
Legend says if you're early, Destin will reply...
I think that's just myth and lore.
+SmarterEveryDay OMG
u just got replied. dayum

I really appreciate this video. I appreciate the excitement, curiosity, and dedication you bring to each of these videos in order to make the world better for the people you meet and everyone else. You are truly a magnificent person. So, thank you, Destin.

Quadriplegic working on my drivers! Couldn't agree more, ever "you're so inspirational " is nice but it is almost limiting in a way. That's why I try to only hang out with those who want to further my progress, not congratulate me on my "bravery " which is just me living my life. We are just normal people who want to be treated as such. So many people are afraid to joke around with me, and it's one of the things I miss the most. A personal thank you to destin for getting smarter on a subject that everyone should learn about but very few do!
I immediately thought about Agent Phil Coulsons removable prosthetic hand...
SPOILER ALERT
damnit man
+Crobber 08 It's been more than a year, dude.
+Antenox I'm a little behind
I thought about Inspector gadget....
What about when Lincoln dies and wards body gets possessed by the hive and they save Jemma from another planet
I like the fact that social media is making posts, videos, etc, about disabled people and all the things they can do right. It's becoming more and more common place. Good job!
This guy has one arm and no legs, yet he still manages to use his turn signals. What's your excuse now BMW owners?
LOL
is a reason why they are called douche canoes :P
I am so glad you made a video about this! I was just wondering about this last week. I would like to learn more about the process of getting the car customized.
I'm also glad you talked about the Adaptive Training Foundation and I will look into donating!

As a former soldier in the Royal Danish army having seen countless of amputees, I fully respect and support this. I love the fact they help warriors get back on their feet in the same way we are use to. Subscribed @Smartereveryday!

Hi Destin, I am one of those few people who does not subscribe ( except a rare few), does not comment. Just passively consume content on youtube. But I am really impressed by you work. You are one of the best youtubers. Very scientific, very logical, very informative, very relatable, very smarter everyday:) Thanks for all the great work.
I thought you were saying "gem".
He is from Alabama after all.
another great episode , I also hope the next one is linked with space
cripes, I wish I was as smooth and confident as the one armed man.
If possible, can you do more videos about the way amputees/the "disabled" adapt in cool ways? I remember hearing about a motorcycle racer who lost a leg and had to build himself one with a special knee so he could keep biking. Nobody knew how to do it so he tinkered with an engineer friend in his garage and figured it out. I love stuff like that.
Lets all chip in and get this guy a Tesla with auto pilot.
but he said he loves driving
That's literally what he hates, he has no freedom and so many people are pitting him
Lexer H
yep you guys actually make a good point
I'll take the Tesla.
What would ACTUALLY be good for him is to develop technology that helps driving become as normal as possible for people who can't properly operate a regular vehicle because of their disabilities. You heard what he said. He enjoys the independence that being able to drive gives him. To broaden the availability and efficiency of the technology that helps people with similar disabilities drive is WAY better than just buying them a robot chauffer.
Really great human being, thank you for giving him a spotlight. I loved hearing from him and seeing his tech.
but what if i have auTSM?
Then its freeLG
Quotes from DoubleLifts new book
pls teemo in summer finals too regi
This is absolutely amazing! The combination of bionics tech and these gym equipment is changing they way these folks lead there lives! Infinite respect.
Dude.....do you reply to people?!
Sometimes when their comments have substance in them.
That's awesome! I appreciate it so much when a content creator reads and replies to viewers :) We can all learn from eachother.
suckup!
Wow, you know, of all the channels that try to convince me to sign up to Audible, I think you are the most persuasive. I think I'll sign up tomorrow morning (it's 11:30 pm here in sydney right now)
That truck must've cost him an arm and a leg....
Oh i get it.
lmfao
the lift cost him the other leg.
Hey Destin, great video! it's amazing to see how these guys don't let their disabilties cripple them. I've never knew this kind of gym even exists!
"This is where we punish cripples"
i have been binge watching your videos for tha past few days and this is by far my favourite yt channel
Driving with one arm is not that smart i think
Yeah because then how do you play Pokemon go?
+lemonmania96 please be joking
he's right :o
+lemonmania96 hahahaha awsome but verry unsafe
+King whoa! calm down. too far
Kenny is an inspiration. His attitude is so positive. He's got the "it has to be done, so I get it done" attitude without any whining or complaining. We could learn a lot from him.
who dislikes this???
People who don’t have lives.
Excellent find, Dustin. Thanks for bringing this to us.
early
make joke
US election
The best Job I have ever had was a summer term job in a machine shop that made an installed hand controls in cars. I also had to do some work on a vehicle that was entirely foot controlled. We did all kinds of other adaptive technology also. Super rewarding work. Thanks Destin for reminding of that job. Programs and businesses that do this kind of work often struggle with funding and awareness.
You're a breath of fresh air from all these other youtubers who just want to show that they can play a video game. Thank you for being you, and thank you for trying to educate the world so the movie Idiocracy doesn't come true!
You're the best!
That verse is very appropriate for this video, particularly the ending of the verse. It pretty much puts a point on everything you said in the video.
Amazing man with a Great Attitude. Thanks for sharing this. Praying for his good life. God Bless him.
Another amazing video how people can dislike this is beyond me... I love how enthusiastic you are about what you are filming I've learnt far more from your videos about science than anything I learnt at school haha you make it so much more interesting.
Really liked this episode I drive one handed sometimes when i have a drink.. but to see this man have to do so on a daily basis is very inspiring he used all the same moves I did when he was steering.
I'd love to see more content of that gym! I would honestly love to see how each work out is planned out and how it works.
As an engineer and a space geek I love your videos. I kind of feel like this one could have been at least two episodes. I would have loved to have seen more about the gym and adaptable training, but I also would have enjoyed a more in depth look at how they make the custom adaptations to allow people with physical disabilities to drive cars (or even other things). Keep up the good work!
This was one of the most awesome videos man (as always but this stood out). Thanks Destin for making this content for us to give us an insight into a true inspiration.
Been subscribed for years now and it feels like Destin can't put out a bad video, keep up the amazing work man, you deserve all the success coming your way :D
This is a really awesome video, it's truly inspiring to see all the challenges they've overcome. It's an amazing community that very often is ignored.
Everyone in this vid possesses so much enthusiasm that is so inspiring! Great content, great channel...keep it up!
I love seeing people do this kind of stuff. They aren't dependent on anyone else. They drive just like us, but with more technology. I saw someone do this with a van that he modded and was shocked.
It's great. Nothing can stop these guys. It's really fascinating to see.
You know, I've never seen a youtuber with 4,000,000 subs reply to one persons comment. I love your channel and I love you, keep up the work and keep making me smartereveryday!
Destin love your personality. Your videos make my days better.
That's awsome man. Im an Iraqi Veteran myself i was in iraq from 2009 to 2010, and i have a few friends that either didn't make it back or where hurt. So keep this type of stuff going, more people need to be doing stuff like this, and not JUST for the disabled veterans, honestly Veterans in general don't get as much respect and help as they deserve.
hey man. thanks a lot for posting very level headed videos. I just found your channel a day ago and I'm absolutely enjoying your content. I'm quite glad I suscribed!
This channel makes me so happy.
great video, would like to see more on adaptive training
something i never thought of until now tho, for example if you were amputated at the elbow, how do you 'work' the bicep/tricep?
I love the way you approach these subjects man. Thank you! keep up the good work, you're doing amazing things.
every video Destin uploads I cant stop myself from smiling... thank you for another great video
i want to see more stuff like this, this was actually so interesting, especially the gym
Wow Destin thank you for sharing this. it definitely opened my eyes and taght me not to feel sorry for people with disabilities
dude EVERYTHING you film is interesting!!! i love this channel. thanks man
It makes my day when I get notifications for your channel!
Best episode yet. Thanks for showcasing my brothers in arms
Nothing but respect for Kenny! He sure can accomplish anything just like anyone can!
This is a truly amazing human being. I haven't had that much respect for anyone in my life.
Destin makes the best youtube vids
Step dad had the same setup on his huge dodge truck back in 2000. Sadly he was never able to get over the funk. Not only left me and my mother but his construction company as well. ATF is doing an amazing job!
Inspiring. It gives you a different perspective of people with "disabilities". I feel as if that word is void now. Great person, great meaning, great video.
I love this dude!! Never seen without a smile. Beautiful truck and keep it up bro!
Thanks for the very inspirational video Destin.
Kudos to this dude. He was so confident while only having one limb! Again, kudos to you sir!
It's amazing how technology can bring those people forward. My friend's also in a wheelchair and is even more flexible than I am. He has kind of a similar car setup, his shift stick is a fully functional joystick controlling acceleration and braking - and from experience I can tell that this is actually really fun to drive - although we are not aware if it's allowed for a non-disabled person to drive this setup :D
I'd love to see a video where you explain the physics and geometry of billiards (specifically, masse shots). Most people have no clue as to how it's done or the science behind it.
Destin, this video has really helped me focus my ambitions - I am currently a college student studying mechanical engineering and I knew I liked cars and wanted to do something with cars, but car design just seemed too boring, and I think that working to design systems for cars like this to assist the handicapped to be more independent and making cars more usable for a wider range of people is something that combines three of my favorite things: helping other people, heavy duty problem solving, as no two people have the exact same injury and different systems work better for different people, and my liking for cars and vehicle design (Plain old vehicle design seemed too boring for me, so designing these systems is really something that stuck out to me as super interesting) So thank you very much for sharing this, I saw this video a while ago, but hadn't thought much of it until a family friend who is losing his mobility had his car outfitted, and designing these systems is what I realized I wanted to do, so thank you.
One of the greatest channels on UA-cam
Dude I love how they don’t treat them any different. Because the worst thing you can do to someone with a physical or mental disability is treat them differently. Great video I’m definitely subbing now!🤟🤟
Respect for this man! Always appreciate what you have.
Thats awesome! I always looked at it from the bad side but these guys make the best of everything. Legends
