- JINJER Pisces (Live Session) Napalm Records. First Alex Terrible Demolisher now Jinjer Pisces. I think I'm slowly becoming a fan of Heavy Metal. I was taken for a ride again by this one. The soothing singing at the open to BOSS BATTLE Voice right after. It's truly amazing the transition in vocals. I noticed I really liked this song while going for a walk and I kept playing it back. This is a KEEPER!

Perennial live at Wacken truly shows her range n switches. The crazy thing only the drummer is classically trained but in piano. Everyone else is self taught and they are f'n amazing. Saw them in October and they sound just as amazing in person. Tatiana's stage presence is ungodly
I found the band Jinjer when this song was making its rounds a while back. It really is her voice. Teacher Teacher is another good one from them.

Kudos to your open-mindedness. I think Jinjer is the right way to be eased into metal, to avoid being overwhelmed and repulsed instinctively. There's also a little detail of them being so super dope. At least in my book. Also good of you to keep an eye on the lyrics, you won't find a Jinjer song without meaningful bars.

Love your position, taking your own stance vs. what's popular one way or another throughout everything I've seen. A phenomenal band, and quite a deep rabbit hole.
In an interview, she said that she was always told her screams sounded feminine, so she spent years practicing to make the screams sound more masculine and she killed it.

Maria Brink is my other favorite voice. Totally different from Tatiana and Jinjer but great all the same. I'd personally start with Whore because of the great message and fun song. The Fighter is omg soooo beautiful, lots more great stuff. Incidentally Jinjer is opening for ITM and Slipknot for one of the 2 monts of Knotfest shows in the US and Canada this spring.

Great reaction, and welcome to the Jinjer world. The band members could use a lot of support and love these days. Tatiana, and I beleve two of the band members, are from Donbass in Ukraina. They had to flee from their homes when the war started in East Ukraina in 2014. And now Russia is threatening to bomb and invade their home again. Its horrible, and they have all our support, love and sympathy.

Jinjer wrote "Home Back" describing how it feels to have to flee frome your home. Maby you should react to "Home Back" next. Musically i think its best to react to Teacher Teacher first, and then Home Back.
Great reaction and great attitude! So much amazing music out there that people never hear because they limit themselves to 'genres'.
As for categorising 'metal', don't worry, even die-hard metalheads often argue about what box to put some bands in.
Tatiana (and all the other 'growl' artists) use a vocal technique that employs 'false cords' rather than the vocal cords we use to speak/sing. It's the same principle Tibetan Monks use for throat singing/chanting. Tati just happens to be particularly adept at it and also has a great set of pipes for traditional singing too.
As others have said, the band are awesome live. I got to see them a couple of years ago and it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, and I'm a really old fart who's been to 100's over the years.

I think you'll find that metal fans are very patient with anyone who is open-minded enough to listen. There are/were many "metal virgins" reaction channels (The Charismatic Voice, Julia Nilon, Alex Hefner, Too Lit Mafia, Key of Geebs, etc.) on youtube and they all slowly come around and discover incredible diversity in sounds and musicianship, and the awesome thing is it makes their communities all the more happy for it. These guys are INCREDIBLE live. I saw them last November. My girlfriend and my mom got me VIP tickets to meet them for my birthday.

My wife and I, have seen them in concert a few times, they are just as amazing live as they are in a studio. She sang through at least 10+ songs each time, like it was a cakewalk. False chords and her diaphragm is how she is able to do it, she has excellent technique.

Tatiana is her name. They are from Ukraine. She is self taught and in my opinion one of the most talented vocalist in the world. When she writes her lyrics she writes them in her language and then translates them to English. They do not make any bad music and i have a whole list of songs i could recommend you to but ill just give you one for now. Perennial live at wacken , their live performances are more enjoyable to watch than their music videos and they sound just as good if not better
If you really want your metal virgin mind blown, check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Some of the heaviest, most complicated metal around. And a violin!

Lots of different metals styles out there. I am not really a fan of the "Cookie Monster" growling stuff. I prefer cleaner vocals.
One of the best female singers (if not THE best) is Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Their performance of "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken Open Air in 2013 is perhaps the best I have witnessed anywhere in my 55+ years on this rock. Would love to see what you think of it.

The song is in reference to the duality of Pisces, the fishes pulling in opposite directions which is why I think the 2 voices suits this song perfectly. And just to mention her flawless transitions
In the 70's my parents listened to rock n' roll... Black Sabbath, C.C.R., Ozzy Osbourne... my older sister was a huge Kiss fan... then in the 80's I gravitated to something new... heavy metal, and since then I've seen it not only grow but branch out to an amazing variety of sub - genres 🤔 have fun on your journey 😎

If you want another example of clean / growled vocals, check out Opeth (Blackwater Park is a [long] starting place). They have completely clean albums (Damnation), completely growled albums (Deliverance, and their older albums) as well as some that contain both.

A lot of rock and metal bands have an extra guitar and sometimes more instruments to help fill in their sound. This is three dudes absolutely showing their technical skills on guitar, bass, and drums. Also Tati did an interview talking about their creative process. She talks about how much of a procrastinator she is and the band records and send her tracks and they won't know what or how she will sing till they record the album... Blows my mind. Oh and she writes in Russian instead of English and then translates it so that is why some of their lyrics have a unique structure to them in English.
