  • If it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become a master, I am closer to mastering Isaac than anything else in my life. And I'm still not that good. This series is directly inspired by Northernlion! I hope I can become your background noise, and even a sleeping aid throughout this series.
The Binding Of Isaac is a legendary roguelike game where you collect items, fight bosses, and unlock secrets. Check it out, along with the Repentance DLC on Steam: store.steampow...

    Some advices

If the opponent discard the 7s it will actually make the tiles on either side of it more dangerous. Because the opponent has a high chance to keep the 6s7s7s or 7s7s8s waiting and discard 7s for tenpai.
8s is safer because your 5s passed, so the combination of 6s7s waiting for [5s,8s] is Furiten, and the opponent's hand appears to be half flush.
It's actually pretty fun, your opponent discards S, 2s, 8m, 6m, then Pon R and discards 7p tenpai (When a player has only 4 tiles left in his hand, it should be regarded as tenpai). It's possible half flush and 7p is overflow.
But then he discards 7s from his hand, Indicates that the 7p was dropped because the 7p wait was too bad. So he is most likely 7s+6p7p7p8p discard 7p and then replace with 6p7p8p+5p or 6p7p8p+6p or 6p7p8p+8p or 6p7p8p+9p. Or his hand is not half flush but 6s7s, 7s8s, 5s7s, 7s9s waiting. The remaining possibility is that he has two 7s as a pair (7s is overflow), or he's just trying to get "All honor".

It is correct to skip 1m as 9s may run out.
It's OK to skip the 9s because to open hand do ONLY "Junchantaiyaochuu" yaku is a high risk low reward option in most cases.
But 6s still have 4 leftovers, so it's not good to discard 7s8s.

If you want to play dirty (or at a higher level), you can be quiet and do not Riichi.

You can save this situation by forcing your hand to be a half flush.

1p is safer because 4p passed (2 turns ago). Combination of 2p3p waiting for [1p,4p] is Furiten for Dealer.

3s is VERY dangerous. This may be a classic 2s4s4s5s, discard the 2s, then 4s and Riichi (4s5s waiting). Both sides of Riichi tile are often dangerous tiles.

You shouldn't switch to 7s8s waiting for 6s, because as soon as you get 9s your hand becomes Furiten which is actually pretty bad.

Thank you so much for the advice! "If you want to play dirty" is my favorite, I will definitely try this more often.
And, the 7s discard because they have 6,7,7 or 7,8,8 is a great fundamental knowledge. This makes a lot of sense!
