The Chateau Diaries: THANKSGIVING AT THE CHATEAU!

- Опубліковано 17 вер 2024
- We all gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving at the chateau! Although this is not a French celebration, I'm happy to embrace any opportunity to be thankful with the people I love, and goodness knows we have had a great deal to be thankful for at Lalande this year. And, just in time, a symbol of the chateau's rebirth arrives - the stained glass window of Saint Cecelia returns!!! We celebrate with a delicious meal in the old stables, which Marie and Philip decorate to perfection, whilst Cat, Mandy and I cook up a feast!
The Chateau Diaries Episode 180 ✨🏰✨
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰

Kat to Selmar ”I can’t imagine the place without you.”
Everyone watching “Me either!” 😀
Selmar is such a wonderful part of Lalande, I can't imagine the chateau without him. You are awesome!!!
The amazing things is he just showed up one day at the start of lockdown.
I just love him! His disco night the other day solidified this🙈
@@michellezevenaar yes this is true I started being an avid watcher at the start of that lockdown around April or may and he arrived! Love this group never want them to separate 😂
I think we all love Selmar. He is so talented and kind.
Thank you for sharing your celebration. For anyone who was alone this year , it would be heartwarming to watch. St Cecelia the patron of music , I know you know, is so fitting for your chapel.
Selmar’s speech made me tear up! So glad he felt that urgency to hit the road 🖤
I remember that episode when Selmar arrived and started fixing things. He’s lalande’s special angel
@@beefrench3554 a phychic angel,
Me too.! A beautiful moment.
He certainly was being guided by the powers above! He was needed and that is why he was led to La lande. Like an angel being sent. Everyone there is, at the right place at the right time. But as Selmar came right when things were needed most and first, guess he is the very one needed to remain always, and be part of the family forever? We all pray this is true and it seems to be going in that direction.
The whole team is doing such a great job working together so well. Very talented.
Selmar speech was so sweet, may he stay at Lalonde for a longtime.
Stephaines 2nd brother now I think lol
He's such a good person. So kind hearted and caring. A real gentleman.
@@highplainsdox it’s actually very refreshing, to know that chivalry isn’t dead.
Selmar is a beautiful soul. ❤️🧿🕺🕺🕺🏰🦚🐶
The animals love him. Diesel keeps a close eye though that he does not get too attached to any other one of the animals though I noticed.. lol
Selmar is the example of living your life thinking everything is a miracle that Natalie spoke of.
Yes, he always has such a positive attitude and a ready laugh.
Marie if that room doesn’t get you wedding jobs, I don’t know what will. Stunning and magical.
Dont ever loose Selmar, he is a treasure and have given so much of him self to this castle. It is almost like he has lived a life here in the past. Selmar, salute to you! Salite to all of you at La Lande. Happy Thanksgiving.
Yes, Selmar was truly meant to be there.
I like your thinking about having a past life there
We all love Selmar!
For me I think that when lockdown started Stephanie thought they would just about scrape through as a business as they lost all their paying guests. Actually I think that this really difficult and hard year of 2020 fir most of the world has probably strangely been the best year for the Chateau de Lalande. The people, the projects that have been completed and although we all missed Percy, having mummy for an extended stay was a blessing. The impact of Selmar, Dan and Marie has been tremendous. Such hard workers and so much talent! I think those of us involved via vlogs and patreon would like to join with everyone at the Chateau in giving thanks 😊
Yes, wonderful comment
Well said! 😊
Totally agree with you 🍁🌾💐🌾🍁💐🌾🍁💐🌾🍁💐
To Helen:
I loved your comment !!!
Chateaou Lalande and that beautiful family has been my company and reconciliation with life during these difficult times...
Dreaming of taking a plane to go to France every single hour...
Best regards from Redland-Miami on a beautiful shiny day of March.
What a wonderful vlog, especially like Nati and Selmar talking about how they are thankful
😭 Tears of joy at the beautiful words especially between Stephanie and Selmar. You all might not have had the traditional Thanksgiving food (what is Gamin anyhow?:), but you have captured the spirit of Thanksgiving beautifully!! This year was hard for me; I couldn’t be with my family because of some of their health concerns and Covid, but was blessed to be included by my best friend and her family today to give thanks for all of our many blessings. One of the the things I’m truly grateful for this year has been Stephanie and everyone at LaLande for the love, laughter and joy you have shared. You truly have helped me make it through this year. God bless you all from Southern California, USA 🇺🇸 🇫🇷
Yes I loved Nati and Selmar talking about how they are thankful. I am a grandma from South Africa and love you all ❤️
@@Marykguise Gammon 😊. It is a pork/bacon joint. We also used to have it thickly sliced, fried in a pan with a thick slice of pineapple.
@@alliejones9864 Thank you so much Allie!! I hope you had a wonderful day of Thanks wherever you live and a very blessed Christmas!! 🎄💝
Oh my goodness, when Selmar was talking about his experiences at Lalande this year, I started crying! 😭 Good things did happen this year, didn’t they? Not a lot, but enough to be thankful for.
Selmar is such a nice person too! Him and Diesel
I would like to thank you Stephanie and all of the lalanders for the new view on daily routines I now have. I make sure to use the nicest china, the best sheets or pajamas. Because it's the little things that create a fairy tale life. Me and my sister now have the Lalande style when making a table: the best cloth, napkins, plates and cutlery, and of course flowers. Thanks to Lalande I strive for beauty more and more, even during the isolation!
Stephanie doesn't always have the ''best'' as in most expensive or the finest, but that which she cherishes and what brings the sense of caring to the table. If you put loving care into your preparations, even chipped old plates of unknown pedigree will bring warmth and smiles to your gatherings. Remember things can be lost. Meaning is up to you.
@@gaslitworldf.melissab2897 ..
@@gaslitworldf.melissab2897 well that was exactly what I implied: the best I have at the moment. Not saving it for some special occasion in the distant future
What wonderful sentiments you have expressed. I totally agree 🙏🏻🙋♂️
So true . Absolutely no point in having beautiful nice things if we don’t use and enjoy them , it’s not like we’re gonna take them with us when we leave this world .
Selmar is lovely and meant to be there.i remember his van arriving and you and Mommy Wondering who had arrived!
Lovely words from Natalie.Goodnight Lalande.
Yes I remember Selmar arriving too. Little did they know the impact of his arrival would make on the Chateau and the people that live there. God bless all
I recently went back to find the episode where he showed up so unexpectedly, just for the pleasure of seeing everyone’s reactions again. 😊

Who needs HGTV when we can go to Chateau de la Lande every week ? Love to you all. Your celebrating thanksgiving?
Exactly!!
Remember when HGTV and the Cooking Channel were good?
You are so right this was so much fun, and entertaining.
@@mindakahn9964, yes I do remember when HGTV and the Cooking Channel and the DIY Channel were good. I miss those days.
I wouldn’t want to watch HGTVs 8 commercials in a row at every commercial break though
Yep! Agree! 🙌🏼
My favorite part is Selmar telling his memories of his journey to the Chateau. I remember it clearly, the motor home in the courtyard, March 27th. Selmar seemed an angle descending on Lalande (the 6th member of Quarantine Diaries). It was such a scary time with the world shutting down and so many unknowns. It's such a joy to be a part of the "Lockdown Renaissance" that began with his arrival. There are many things for Lalande to be thankful for this year, Stephanie and I love that you celebrate this holiday as it's about THANKFULNESS and never concern yourselves about what the menu will be as its just THANKFULNESS.
It's wonderful because it was Sainte Cécile's day on the 22th of November !!! What a perfect timing !
And she is the patron saint of music...
Steve’s drawing for the Saint’s face translated perfectly!
We Americans don’t all have turkeys, some ham or roast. What makes it thanksgiving is sitting around the table taking turns saying what we are thankful for. Eat whatever you like best.
We have Ribs, or Pernil and a Spanish rice with chicken and shrimp. It is any comfort food that you love.
Our Canadian Thanksgiving is traditionally turkey but ham is a favourite too! This was a wonderful episode and I am so thankful for the happiness you share with us all! Wilma in Nova Scotia Canada
@@ibosquez5238 totally disagree with you. Thanksgiving is an American and Canadian holiday celebration because of the history behind it, not a European one. Pelegrín didn’t settle in France and we didn’t have and still don’t have Native American in France. I love Stephanie’ s vlog but this is very bizarre and odd. This is an excuse to have a party and this is very inappropriate. She has no ties to The States, nor to Canada. Would American and Canadian celebrate Bastille Day on July 14th...I don’t think so. Even Michael Petherick questioned her last year about it (he didn’t understand it either). She gave him a very poor excuse for this bizarre idea. I am sorry but Thanksgiving isn’t just a party theme because someone wants a party. I didn’t like it last year and I am still not like it this year. No point discussing the matter because as Mummy said to her once, no point giving you my advise because you will ignore it anyway. By celebrating Thanksgiving in France, in a French Château with EUROPEAN volunteers, she is dismissing everything that Thanksgiving stand for and is about.
@@ibosquez5238 I don’t want to start a war either. Even in this bigger picture, NO EUROPEANS “Give thanks to Father God” in that manner or ever. It is purely an American and Canadian way to be thankful to God. I should know I am French who has lived in the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and the US for the past 20 years. Even the Italian who are very religious don’t “thank God” on that particular day of the year or in this manner. I would even say that there are no others countries than America and Canada that celebrate Thanksgiving. This is the first time that I see an European celebrating Thanksgiving. Very bizarre indeed and I am questioning her motives (ie: pleasing her American and Canadian patrons may be - some self promoting). Stephanie doesn’t celebrate La Chandeleur, which is a very French religious celebration. So very weird that she celebrates Thanksgiving. May be, because she doesn’t have a great number of French subscribers because her vlog is in English so she feels that there is no need to celebrate that day of La Chandeleur (it is the day that Jesus was presented to the temple in Jerusalem and the Christians celebrated the event by bringing candles to be blessed). This is why I am questioning her motives, in that case, why doesn’t she not celebrate the Son of God?
@@ibosquez5238 the "y'all" gave away that you are from Texas lol! Nowhere in the world says it more besides maybe Georgia lol!
Writing as a gardener, those poo piles looks like piles of gold to me! Your soil will be so happy to receive such a gift! I now have poo pile envy...
Me too. One year my neighbor gifted me a pile- I was estatic
Thankyou toStephanie and all the LaLanders for making the confinements bearable.
You are lucky to have such an interesting helper and friend as Selmar!
Oh, the St Cecilia stained glass window is breathtaking!!😍
We are all thankful for you Stephanie also for Selmar,Nati, Marie, Cat and Dan who light up our lives.

Yes Nattie, every day is a miracle. What a beautiful, thankful gathering, ending with the chapel windows glowing in the darkness of the day. So inspiring.
Awe.... Marie, isn’t she lovely??!!
I absolutely love everyone of you, past and present, at Lalande! Marie, the studio looked amazing, Natalie your speech was touching, Selmar we appreciate all you do and Kat, we love you.
Heartwarming vlog today. Selmar is more precious than gold. Nati is special too. Marie outdid herself. Blessings all.
Selmar is wonderful. He should remain a permanent fixture at Lalande! Lovely vlog. Happy Thanksgiving.
Yes! Selmar has differently been a blessing. I remember him arriving and everyone including viewers were still all in shock for what was happening in the world! Not only one country selmar is a knight in a white horse😀
The studio looked beautiful, the lights the foliage the table the, everything! Everything! It all looked beautiful.
Just as an aside. We do eat ham for thanksgiving. With cloves, honey and brown sugar glaze. In fact, personally, we generally don't even do turkey. =) Everyone can celebrate a day of friends, family, and gratitude! Also we do eat mashed potatoes, but also sometimes potatoes au gratin. The side dishes change and can be anything you like. There's never one way to eat a holiday meal! 🧡
For the very first time I wished I was watching this on a larger screen.
Marie and Phillip out did them selves setting the stage.
You really need to set a special date for 'Lalande day'.😁🥳👍
Natti's little speech was lovely and touched my heart and Selmar's recounting his journey and his stay at Lalande was beautiful. Thank YOU!
Today I am celebrating with expats in Ecuador and they call it FriendsGiving. That’s perfect for Lalande
To Selmar! To the Renaissance of Laland!
The Thanksgiving meal was fabulous, and I was inspired by Natti's and Selmar's personal expressions of gratitude.
St Cecilia looks great
So sad I missed Selmar's speech 'live' what a lovely day, so happy to have shared a bit of my Thanksgiving with all the lovely La Landers :)
Stephanie and all her happy fellow Lalanders, new and old, have so lifted us all and made us make the wretchedness of 2020 a wondrous year in many ways. I can't thank all of you so much for not only lifting my spirits, but for allowing me to, through you , your chats and really UA-cam in general, to find so many wonderful new friends on line.
There is something about all of us that truly feels like a small series if 'Villages' in the vast WORLD of UA-cam. That we can pop in for a cuppa and a chat to see what one another is doing in their little bit of their 'virtual village' and all our little roads lead to joyous La Lande! Who could have thought that the dire straights of 2020 could have created such a wonderful New escape for all of us.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy and joyous La Lande Magic to all of us!
God Bless us Everyone :)
beautifully said Donna and so true :)
I just ADORE Kat!!! Such a character, would love to know where she is going to move on to in life's adventures, no doubt, to a very happy life full of fun, delicious cooking and humour! And I would recognise that enchanting voice in a million!
She’s Awesome!
She brings a special spice to the Castle.
Lovely, thank you all for being such positive forces in this difficult time. x
To Selmar! He was guided to come to La Lande, how beautiful.
Lovely words Natti.
Marie and Phillip did such a wonderful job decorating the space.
Cat cooked a scrumptious meal.
Stephanie thanks for all the work you did to bring this vlog to us, we appreciate you and all that you do.
Lovely Nattie 🥰
Since March my business has stopped completely and we already lost two seasons full of projects, I have been in lockdown away from my parents, away from my sister, in a small flat. I've gone through a severe case of faringitis that took 50 days to go away [it was not covid], a panic attack from the pressure of confinement & bills, I live in the city with the most Covid cases in Greece, I am allowed out only once a day for a short while after I send an sms to the goverment, friends and family got sick with covid and we cannot find two of them. Despite all of that, I am thankful that UA-cam put Chateau Diaries in my suggested list, after watching a video on the renovation of Timothy Corrigan's Chateau 5 times in a row [ it's on a channel called "Quintessence"]. I am thankful to Stephanie and everyone at Lalande for making it possible for me to a escape to a place of peace, joy and beauty. Thankful that I am able to support sth so amazing with just watching ads. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have no idea what you have done for me.... [I need to stop typing now, I am getting emotional]
I am in a similar situation. Have not seen my husband in over a year. I am sure next year will be better. Hopefully the vaccine will be safe and effective. Sending love and best wishes.
@@janetthomas8244 OMG that is so hard! We were having problems with Turkey and my boyfriend [who is in the special forces] was gone, I had no idea where he was and he could not contact me for three months. He came home late April and had to quarantine for two weeks on top of that. I saw him in May! I know how hard that is! I am so sorry that you are going through all of this without your husband. Sending you an enormous hug!!!!

I just want to say how moving the speeches were... I teared up when Natie spoke about health as my father has Leukemie and what with Covid, it has been very difficult. My father is grateful every day that he has that extra day to live life. Thank you Lalanders for your joy and celebration of life! Big hugs!
A memorable installment of the Lalande Chronicles. It has struck me that these videos really are a chronicle, a record of events like those compiled by Saint Bede and his monastic colleagues.
Selmar is a Legend! Is there anything he cannot do?!
Thank you for the video!
I loved Nati’s speech. And watching everyone at LaLande brings such joy. ❤️
Yes, Nati’s words were very touching. 😊

What a nice speech Nattie, you are such a sweet person they are lucky to have you.
Philip and Marie really did an outstanding job of making the table absolutely exquisite. It looked like something out of a woodland magical feast.
No worries. Even We Americans don’t all have the same foods at Thanksgiving. We’re glad to share the Holiday. Today, I know I’m thankful for all of you!
Came here to say the same. Your food choices were just perfect. Thanksgiving is more about gathering with loved ones and being thankful, and not so much the menu. Well done, and happy Thanksgiving from Texas!

Renaissance is such a fitting word. It truly is the rebirth of this great building and it's people. There could be no better day than Thanksgiving to see the return of the beautiful stain glass window. I know Thanksgiving is traditionally an American holiday, but part of that tradition is to share our bounty with our friends and loved ones. It's only fair we share our holiday with the world as Stephanie and all the Lalanders have shared their lives and stories with us. I am thankful for the Chateau Diaries channel, all its patrons, friends, and the amazing people who showcase their lives on it for our pleasure and entertainment. May Laland and all who live there be blessed with many more years of life, love, and laughter.
As an American, I’ve always believed that Thanksgiving is what you make of it. Cheers to you all for sharing your beautiful Thanksgiving with us.
What a wonderful Thanksgiving at LaLande! Nati, the quote you read about “everything is a miracle” is one of my favorites. Another one is: “People are not grateful because they are happy, but happy because they are grateful.” And I am so grateful for everyone in the LaLande community, not only Stephanie and all the others who call this magical place home, but also all those from all over the world who take the time to write such thoughtful and kind comments. Thank all of you so much for making this world a brighter and more loving place🥰
This was a very touching episode that reminds us there is always a reason for thanksgiving.
Thank YOU Stephanie and all the Lalanders who have kept us all sane during this time. Philip gathering the branches for magical Marie looks like an elf, while Kat cooked up a storm, Mandy stirred her muffins, Dan made poop piles, Steph Dauphinoise and meanwhile trying to record the transformation of the cool stable into a warm pretty bower for Thanksgiving dinner. All the speeches and replacing of St Cecilia in the Chapel were so sweet, It was very touching to watch. I, for one am THANKFUL to have found Lalande.
All locked in for this pandemic, it’s difficult to find much to look forward to. I don’t know if you can fully appreciate how much your vlog has contributed to the morale of only the whole world.
Long after this situation is over we will have you and the lovely people at Lalande to inspire us.
I am thankful for being able to through these vlogs feel part of the life at the Chateau. Thank you
Likewise Linda! VERY SPECIAL.
Stephanie your voice is so beautiful and just mesmerising. You would great at voice overs, or reading books, movie caractatures.
Selma what you shared about arriving to Lalande and how it all came about it was so touching. When I saw you first arrive in March this year I thought to my self wow what magical timing on his part and how blessed Stephanie and mommy are to have this person come in from who knows where to arrive at the right place at the right time. Selma you certainly where spiritual guided probably by Stephanie’s dad. It was at a very crucial time they would of been totally on their own. Like Stephanie said, “You started the renaissance of LaLande”. Nati A beautiful heartfelt thanksgivings speech I loved 🥰 the closing. I was surprised to hear that some of the landers never celebrate Thanksgiving; it is such a big feast in Canada and in the US it’s almost like Christmas without gifts. A time to give thanks for the harvest, what we have and to be reminded of all the great things sometimes we take for granted. I missed Michael this time I remember the great Thanksgiving table he and Stephanie set up for Thanksgiving it was out of this world, super special. Thanks Marie for holding Thanksgiving in your studio that was so sweet, so well organized & so natural loved it. Great job well done. You’re so organized Maria. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Canada 🍁 celebrates it in October the US celebration it in November. Miss not seeing Hanni. 🦃🦃🦃🦃🥰🥰🥰🌈💕🇨🇦

Stephanie, after watching this vlog, I was so moved by the return of St Cecelia. I had to look up her life and legacy. What a story. Then....a babe is born into our family, a little girl. My nephew and his wife held off in naming her - and tonight I called to see what they had chosen - Cecelia! I was blown away - the first thing I said was - patron St of music and he he blown away I even knew who she was! Cecelia was born on her name day and they chose it because my nephew is a musician....such a beautiful circle of connection. xx
Thank you for the dream of what could be, rather than what is.
Thank you Stephani, that was beautiful.
Seeing Saint Cecelia replaced and looking magnificent was a Thanksgiving highlight.

I could not agree more with the sentiments expressed in this vlog. Selmar in particular is an absolute treasure and what a difference he has made to LaLande!
I think practicing the mind set of being thankful is so important - especially during these difficult times!
Best wishes to all at La Lande! Welcome home St Cecilia.
What a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. So much love went into it all. Bravo to team LaLande! Marie and Phillip created such a fairytale like atmosphere and Natie’ s speech was very moving. One of the finest Chateau Diaries to date ! Happy Thanksgiving everyone !
Just going back to old vlogs randomly and its incredible the transformation of the chapel!! It's breathtaking. I wonder if Stephanie-marveling at the final window of St. Cecelia going back in-could ever imagine the vault and paint work being restored back then. This vlog is such a happy place for me. Such a joy to watch.
As an American, I know why we celebrate our Thanksgiving, but I really believe there should be a Thanksgiving Day celebrated around the world we could all participate in and celebrate the connection between all people of this beautiful world! Wonderful setting as usual for your celebration and the food look fabulous! Long live LaLande!!

I am thankful for you Stephanie, and your marvelous blog! You have the most magical way of bringing the best out of people -and places!
Although the traditionalist may disagree the LaLanders "got" the essence of Thanksgiving. It doesn't matter what you serve, it's the coming together of people who genuinely care for each other and are thankful for what they have been graced with. Beautiful people, beautiful table, beautiful food. As an American you did us proud.
And we are all thankful to you 💯👏 Stephanie 🤗isabel 🤗and Selmar 🤗who have helped us threw such scary and depressing times and continue to do so with all the amazing people who visit the chateau we love and appreciate every single one of you!!!!! 😍🤗
And Lady Stephanie you are especially blessed with the people around you. And for having a kind Giant named Selmar. Who watches after you and your Mummy, the Chateau and your animals
So much gratitude for the lot of you, for making 2020 better than it is, for spreading fun and kindness. Thanks to all the people that can afford being patreons and sending gifts, as they help creating content for those of us who currently cannot. Thanks to the people who leave their home country to save a piece of living history like our French chateaux, you are wonderful and bring those parts of France back to life. Thanks to all the people in the comments who are kind, respectful and joyful.
Marie is so talented! Love the setting!
So talented
I think it’s always the right time to celebrate the spirit of thanksgiving! Being grateful is one of the essential ingredients for a happy life!
So very true Carolyn! 😊
I always love seeing how jolly the Postman is when arriving with packages. I come from a family of seven children so we always had a lot of post. My father taught us to always leave a card and a nice little gift ( or money ) and a thank you for the postman each Christmas. I still do it to this day and it really seems to tickle them pink. I hope you do the same at LaLande ... ;-) And, to echo the others ... SPECTACULAR dinner party - the decor, food and love are so inspiring! xoxo
On this Thanksgiving day, thank u for lol the love and laughter. St, Cecelia is lovely

For a group of Non- Americans You all have hit the nail on the head. American Thanksgiving is about taking time out to give thanks for our family and friends and the bounty whatever that may be in our lives. Each family has their own twist on the mainstays of the meal, the potatoes, the corn, the green beans the turkey, and the other root vegetables. We work with what is in season and what is abundant. There is no set have to ( except maybe the green-bean casserole and the cranberry chutney oh yes and the Turkey which is ever so good if properly brined or deep-fried, but that's another story) many people sub in cornish game hens and even ham or even a large roast. Always though the most important is time to give thanks and to appreciate those we are with and those that we can not be with. Bless you all , so wonderful and so moving! NOw let's have a toast to St.Cecilia
This is hands down the best channel on UA-cam. Who is visiting this magical place come hell or high water when the world opens up again? 🙋🏻♀️
Happy Blessed Thanksgiving🦃, to you all LaLander's!! I am so thankful🙏 to be able to watch each & every one of you!! You all have made these difficult months & times more manageable in living life. Yesterday, I had a difficult, sad day.....I lost one of my beloved pet 🐱, my sweet Toby honey boy. I have cried 😭& sobbed so much, that my eyes & face hurt. I certainly did not feel like celebrating or cooking for Thanksgiving. When I saw that you posted a video for today, I thought & prayed it would make me feel better. I certainly feel better now and it brought a smile to my face in cheering me up. Thank you, for that!! 😁
I just love❤ each & every one of you for sharing such beauty, love, and friendship with us all!
May God Bless you!😊
Much love ❤& hugs,

We are THANKFUL we have you in our lives, from around the world, near and far.
