I like this Sheikh very much he is a very intelligent, educated pious person. but in this lecture, he sneezed very. I pray for him long and healthy life because we are in need of such people.

Beautiful, insightful talk about indigenous Islam. Why was the ending cut off? -really wanted to listen to that!

That was the end. His last sentence is "But then salary cuts, the NHS, but there are some good places." END

The Shaykh seems to be in the middle of answering a fascinating question, when the video is cut short and ends. What happened to the rest of it?

The Ottoman viziers and warriors who were converts were often unfortunately forced converts brought into Islam through the Ottoman devşirme system. Like Sokollu Mehmet Paşa in the 16th century, who came into Islam through devşirme, or İbrahim Edhem Paşa in the 19th century, who also came into Islam through slavery, although not through devşirme, which had ended by then.

Not at all...in the Balkans this was percieved as a gateaway from povrerty to prosperity..you knpw that the dawshirme system was limited to Ottomans christian population in balkans and crimia, georgia etc...bosnians muslims for insstance were not eligible..then Bosnians plead the sultan to also open this avenue to bosnian muslims..since it was an oppportunity for a village boy to become a vizier one day..just like Sokoullu Mehmet pasha, a bosnian christian who was from even more prosperous family, from clergy...yet his family put his name to the dawshirme list. You are referring to an orientalist perception of the Ottoman practice. Tha jariyah, concubines in Harem etc.

@@MultiCanEman Also Sokollu mades his brother patriach of Serbian Church. His father become muslim etc. It is not a tragic story at all.

Shame on you, brother Abdul Hakim, for making fun of your brothers who had opinions that you did not like about the design of the mosque. I was expecting high-level moral behavior from you that reflects your claim of Sufism and spiritual education.
