Devi Skandmata is the mother of Skanda, Lord Kartikeya (Murugun). Her form depicts the motherly instincts as she is holding the child. Riding on the lion she is fearless. Goddess Skandmata is the fifth form of navdurga and hence worshipped on the fifth day of navratri. Hindus worship the divine feminine energy in the form of navdurga. That's why navratri holds a significant place for sadhaks for devi upasana. Devotees who worship her also get the blessings of Lord Kartikeya.
Burn a ghee diya in front of the idol of goddess.
Sit calmly.
Burn incense sticks or dhoop.
Offer flowers, fruits and sweets.
Chant the mantra "Om Hreem Sah Skandmaatray Namah"
