    Try Hamilco Semi Gloss on Amazon. It comes in 80 & 100lb. It's not as glossy as photo paper. Is a good value and does great with stamping, ink blending, and all foiling. You will not be disappointed.

    I am so glad someone did this! I have tested most of the same papers and have come up with the same conclusion. I have found what I think is a #4 1/2 maybe even a #5 AND is also very inexpensive. It is Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover 100# 271g/m2. You can find it on Amazon in 8 1/2 x 11 inch 250 sheets for only ~$17.00 US

    Thank you. Looks like photo paper is winner for me as I tried it now and was easy to get negative image easily without much efforts and quick. we have lots of photo paper left.
    My foiling results were fine on other papers. One of them was Mondi brand 200 gsm (bought for Minc foiling) which almost has a coating on top so positive images foil well, for negative I have had hit and misses.

I've watched a couple of youtube videos to see other's trial and error and I'm just about ready to get started.
    I plan to use Spectrum Nior Ultra Smooth Cardstock, to begin with since, besides yupo paper, it's the smoothest cardstock I have.

      great questions! The shim I use is typically 80lb. The photo paper (and yupo) doesn't cut as smoothly as Neenah, but it cuts fine. The super detailed dies probably are not the best option to cut from photo paper. But a simple outline or simple shape, or a sentiment outline - that will cut.

    Thank you so much for this ... I was on the verge of selling my glimmer hot foiling system as I wasn't able to get good results no matter how hard I tried!! What would you suggest if I wanted to foil directly onto a coloured cardstock?

    Thanks for the info. The photo paper is no longer available at Amazon.

    Have you tried the Spellbinders Glimmer Specialty Cardstock yet? It seems odd that you do so much work with them and you wouldn't have been provided with their specialty foiling paper.

      I had filmed this video before Spellbinders cardstock was released. I have tried it, yes. I'll share my findings in the next video :)

      @@Yana.Smakula I did not realize their glimmer paper was a new release. I look forward to seeing what you think of it in the next cardstock video. :)

    Do you have any suggestions how to removed foil around the edges of the paper outside of your die that you foiled? I have marks left behind on Neenah that are impossible to remove.

      Linda, sanding eraser usually works. if that doesn't work - use a craft knife to scrape it off. If the marks are too big - re-foil, but cut the foil to size, that should help reduce the overfoiling

    Is it possible to foil on acetate?

    • @Yana.Smakula
      @Yana.Smakula  3 роки тому

      yes it is! You need to use heat resistant acetate. I'd tried it, it works. I have a video (not a comparison, just a tutorial) here - ua-cam.com/video/apuqlDfkZRg/v-deo.html

      any specific paper from Stampin up? I'll see if I can get it here in Ukraine, we don't have Stampin Up here, sadly.

      @@Yana.Smakula FYI Stampin' Up just changed their white cardstock, and I don't think it is as smooth as before.
