I’m also not sure they keep Randle as the Knick’s situation right now is similar to Memphis’ run when Rudy Gay went down which was the birth of the “Grit and Grind” Grizzlies. I’d prefer to keep Randle but let’s wait and see.

Assuming you move Bojan for a scorer (Bojan IS a scorer, btw) JB, Donte, OG, Randle, Mitch, Deuce, Hart, and iHart are all in the rotation. Who sits for this imaginary scorer?
Keeping Bojan might be the answer since he's a scorer who will likely be OK playing 20 minutes per night.
I think we should use one of the first round picks to at least get a league ready player. We need at least someone 6’7 + that can defend and shoot

They don't have young stars to develop. They've been acquiring young veterans on good deals. Mitch and Deuce are the only drafted guys in the rotation. The Knicks have more extra draft picks than anyone in league.

Imo they need a backup point guard to help JB out. Tyler Kolek is available in the Knicks draft range.
They can bring over Rokas, then again will Thibs give him any playing time.
We definitely need someone that get there own shot and command a double team. I prefer a forward. That the first type of player they should look for first. Donovan is a good choice, just wish he was taller. We do need a taller player.
To replace Randle? That won't happen anytime soon unfortunately.
The Knicks won't trade those picks. The best I can see them do is if they go all in for Mikal Bridges and I doubt they would. The best I can see them do is let's say there is a team out there that wants Anunoby. Like here is a fun scenario to talk about. What if Atlanta doesn't want to trade Trae Young and they go all in for a elite defender. The Knicks could sign and trade him. You could do something extravagant like this....

The Knicks can guarantee Bojan's contract and use it in a trade like this. I feel this would be enticing this draft is weak and the Nets need picks. I feel that Milwaukee 2025 Pick is valuable if the Bucks implode. It is only 1-4 protected and the Nets lack talent and need picks. They get a consolidation prize in having the honor of getting the #1 overall pick. Now the reason the Hawks would do this is because they can't get Mikal because they have no picks but the Knicks do. So essentially the Knicks are throwing out 4 1st round picks to get Mikal but it is worth it to get an elite defender that is healthy and you know can plug and play for you. Plus the Knicks still have a lot of assets to trade even after this. Plus this let's them be able to sign Hartenstein at 4 for 72. Technically you are moving 30 mill and 19 mill to get a contract at 19 mill for Bridges. Technically frees you some cap space. If these teams are game i say do it.
The Knicks need another scorer another big man. Robertson stays hurt too much and you don’t know how Randle will be when he comes back. The Knicks have enough guards. Scoring power forward and a rebounding center who can shoot foul shots and score would be nice.

What I think the Knicks should do is use some of those first round draft picks to get at least 2 of these players: Mikal Bridges, Lauri Markannen, Kyle Kuzma, Dejounte Murray, Miles Bridges, Keldon Johnson, Collin Sexton, Caris LeVert, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jarrett Allen.
They could also pick up Andre Drummond so he could come off the bench.
I was thinking they shouldve been gottten Andre Drummind too. When jish hart has to grab 18 rebounds nightly, you need a traditional big man who can stay available of the bench at least.
Bare in mind, healthy we have an 8 man rotation coming back next season in:
Brunson
DiVo
OG
Randle
Hartenstein
Mitch
Deuce
Hart
So we just have room for like one rotation spot realistically
@@ceelife360nyc6...I absolutely agree. That's why Thibs feels he can't allow Josh Hart to sit down. Yes they should have gotten Andre Drummond or another big guy because some of the teams in the East they have to go through are dominant at the center position or have a big guy in the center that's difficult to deal with: the Philadelphia, Cleveland, Boston, Milwaukee, etc.
If the team didn't have injuries, then Mitchell Robinson and Julius Randle would be getting a lot, but the problem is that Mitch is injured quite often. So I believe that a guy like Drummond could have helped. I was suggesting Myles Turner before the trade deadline as well. Notice that he can shoot from 3...something that none of the Knicks' centers can do at all or do well.
@@knicksdigest...Well, that's one of the reasons that I've been saying that they should fire Thibs despite his genius on the defensive end. What he's doing is similar to the setup he had on the Bulls. He's running the players into the ground which is where all the injuries are coming from with the exception of Julius Randle's injury which was a freak accident.
We shouldn't have just an 8 man rotation. It should be 10 or more. Secondly, I like some of the guys but I don't get why the Knicks are fighting to keep them. Donte DiVincenzo is good, but he's hot and cold. If it came to it, I think they could replace him. But they don't have to. I would say the same for Mitchell Robinson...though I think he's good as well.

But if not, we'd likely need 2 guys. I would suggest these: Collin Sexton, Dejounte Murray, Jaren Jackson Jr., Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro, Pascal Siakam, Kyle Kuzma, Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges or Caris LeVert. Two of them could give you the scoring that Donte does either together or alone. And since there'd be 2 of them, we would be able to bench one and put the other in. We can't keep expecting Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle to do almost all of the scoring. And if one of them is out, only the remaining guy can score consistently. Honestly, to me, Donte DiVincenzo is similar to Josh Hart. Josh Hart is the one the team can't do without.
As for Mitch? The team could replace him with Jarrett Allen and Andre Drummond. Jericho Sims and Isaiah Hartenstein are basically similar to Mitch. So what's the point of having 3 guys that are almost clones of one another? And since one of the guys is always injured, we could replace that one with a different type.
The issue is that the bench is full of guys that are cheering the team on, and Thibs isn't interested in using them unless the game is already basically won or the Knicks are getting blown out. If he had, OG Anunoby would still be there as well as Mitchell Robinson. Honestly, I think the rotation should expand to 10. Notice that the team is struggling with injuries every year that they were in the playoffs. Someone significant was gone and there wasn't anyone good enough to replace him or them.
I think the Knicks will defer both picks for heavily protected picks in the future. Just what Leon likes to do.
I think it's more not liking the players in their range and they wanna trade the picks for a star anyway

This team is humming, in great shape to win a title in near future, and you are complaining about playing ....who? The whole team is pretty young. Thibs basically developed Quickley, McBride, Barrett, Toppin and Robinson. Quick and Barrett got their run and turned into Anunoby. Toppin maybe could have played a little more but also he didn't fit the offense and the team was trying to win games. McBride has developed nicely and gets major minutes .... And Sims is still not good enough to warrant the team losing just so he can play a little more. Literally what are you asking for!?

@@knicksdigest The Knicks have 2 Fr picks from Pistons and Wizards .. both teams will most likely not be in the playoffs.. the protected picks from those teams are deferred to next year and are 2x as valuable now since next year they’ll be unprotected. Along with Knicks own picks. I think this should be a compelling enough reason for the Nets to consider. I think the Knicks should even go up to 6 Fr picks and a player for Bridges, without giving up OG , Hart, iHart, and DiVo. I think that’s a good value. Either that way or .. they might even go as far as Randle + Mitch and 4 Fr picks for Bridges + Claxton
@@Michael_Page it’s not a huge over pay.. Bridges is arguably top 5 at his position/ role both defensively and offensively. He plays elite defense while giving 22 ppg. Consistently. That’s why Nets probably won’t give him up. That kind of play is so hard to find. He has the full package. Could be a 2nd playmaker and 2nd option for scoring, while defending the opposing teams best player night in and night out. The only other comparisons I can think of are Jaylen Brown, Paul George, and DeAndre hunter. He’s the best defender out of all three and has the scoring capability of PG and JB
@@RajbirSingh-wy5xv 4 firsts for a guy who is not a superstar is an overpay...doesn't matter because the Nets won't do it. Also, Mikal is not doing all those things at the same time. He hasn't been an elite defender AND a scorer at the same time. When the scoring went up, the defense slacked a bit.
Don't het me wrong, I'd love to have him, but if they keep Randle and Thibs, Mikal doesn't make the team better. Thibs plays whoever he thinks his best 5 is into the ground. Not enough minutes for everyone and there is only one ball. Donte's 21 ppg goes to the bench. Hart's 15/10/5 goes to the bench. Mikal will basically become RJ playing with ball dominant JB and ball hogging Randle.

There is zero reason why the Knicks should not draft at least 1 player in this first round that they think should play now and contribute or be someone who can develop longer term and become a high quality. Punting two years in a row on draft picks is just bad practice in the NBA unless you are already deep title contenders which the Knicks just aren't yet.
100% especially considering how often they hit on picks in that range - IQ, Grimes, Deuce all late first, early 2nd round steals
Mr Leon Rose has three draft picks (#24 & 25 in the 1st round and #38 in the 2nd round) in the 2024 NBA Draft. He could trade some or all the draft picks to get a NBA Superstar and/or talented players added to the Knicks rosters next season.

Knicks are the most interesting team in the league. The front office and Thibs are not really on the same page, but the combination works. Rose has continually stocked the Knicks with good players that Thibs only randomly uses. It results in the Knicks having to just give away good players. Fournier, Obi, RJ, even Grimes were all given away for less than the Knicks could have gotten if Thibs used them the right way. Thibs gets "great coach" thrown at him all the time, but in reality, he's a likeable coach, not a great coach. He gives his players what they want: lots of minutes, which means lots of stats, which means lots of money.
Thibs only lucked into a great lineup because Mitch and Randle got hurt. The JB, Donte, Hart, OG, Hartenstein lineup was very effective and a joy to watch. However, if everyone were healthy, Randle would be playing 40+ minutes and taking 20 (mostly bad) shots and turning the ball over a ton. If everyone were healthy MItch would be playing 30+ minutes while being completely useless offensively.
This is a lovable team that will likely lose in the 2nd round for the next few years...unless the Knicks get rid of Thibs for a more forward thinking coach and flip Randle for a guy who plays more like Hart or OG.
Disagree completely. Changing coaches would be a suicide for this team, which IMO is on track to win a title within 3 years. Thibs is part of the continuity and culture that has blossomed and will continue to improve with continuity and just health+adding the extra little pieces necessary at this point in the process. Changing the team on that fundamental of a level is so stupid. Not to mention the FAMILY connection between Brunson and Thibs.
And I don't know how on earth you are complaining about the OG Anunoby trade. Knicks made hay. Barrett had more than his fair opportunity here and didn't fit the team, was addition by subtraction. Obi was a bad fit and behind Randle, the advanced stats had the team net much better when Obi was off the floor.... Grimes is obviously basically trash, and Fournier also is trash, the net rating again was DRASTICALLY better with his bum@$$ off the floor.. what are you even tripping on. Fournier!? Learn basketball if you think we 'just needed to use Fournier correctly'. You can't have it all. You can't maximize and fit every single player into any system with other players. Systems are a real thing, certain players just fit better in different situations. That's how team building and chemistry work....
The only reasonable thing you brought up is what to do about Julius Randle. It's a good question - the Knicks still looked almost unbeatable when Randle, Brunson, and OG were all healthy though. He is still a good value for his contract, and knows the team, fits the identity. Maybe you can get Mikal Bridges instead but I think they'll stick with Julius for a while at least next year and get a clear picture of what it all looks like together healthy for a continued period.
@@LysergiCoyotl Thibs is 65 years old. Never been out of the second round. Look at the rotations of championship teams. Nobody has EVER won a championship doing what Thibs is doing. If you think Thibs system is headed for a championship within 3 years, YOU need to learn basketball.
The Knicks were good because of OG, btw, not Randle. 26-5 with OG in the lineup. 14-3 with OG and no Randle, including 6-2 in the playoffs. 17-15 with Randle and no OG. Flip Randle for a player who pays the right way (because Thibs won't MAKE him play the right way) and the Knicks will improve their chances...but still won't win a chip with Thibs.
@@Michael_Page You're being obtuse though. The only reason Thibs rotations are so tight is because the team is trying to win. The injuries make the rotation 7 or 8 guys. If Randle, Robinson, OG, Bogdanovic are all healthy, it's a 9-man rotation. Brunson/Divo/OG/Randle/IHart - McBride/Hart/Bogie/Robinson off bench. And its not like Thibs is Doc Rivers over here with tons of opportunities with real contenders...so the whole never been out of 2nd round thing is irrelevant IMO. The team likes him, Brunson family connection, the continuity ... why would you shake up a team on the brink of contention at that fundamental a level ... you just need to amend the roster with some tweaks... And go look at the rest of the leagues coaches ... there's just not many good ones. Who are you replacing Thibs with?? You're wrong about Thibs needing to go. You also argue in bad faith. Thibs literally had a championship caliber team and MVP with the Bulls. He had KAT, Jimmy, and Wiggins with the Wolves. Wiggins has a chip. Jimmy been to the Finals. Knicks were favorites to beat the Pacers. Maybe he gets it done this year, but the fact that Thibs is 66 years old and never been out of the second round is very relevant.
The rotation would be deeper if everyone wete healthy, but Randle would ne playing 40+ minutes and taking 20 shots, which would sink the team. Donte and Hart would be playing less. Less shots for Donte. More minutes for Mitch, who is completely usesless offensively. Still not a championship team.
When Thibs had a team that was actually very good: JB, Donte, Hart, OG, and iHart, Thibs ran them into the ground instead of giving Burks and Precious some time. We KNOW Precious can play defense and rebound in Thibs system. Burks is a bucket, at least give him a couple minutes to see what he can do. Now OG, the second best player on the team, is out and JB Superstar is hopping around on one foot.
