This is a brilliant movie! Superb plot that keeps you guessing. Well acted, by all except Chevy Chase. The dialog is superbly exceptional and Dustin Hoffman put in a great performance. He deserved an Oscar.

I gotta go with Ryder and Donde on this one. I'm always telling friends to find and watch this movie. I do believe it is Hoffman's greatest comedy performance. If you've never seen it, the trailer does not come close to showing just how many laughs are waiting for you. Do yourself a favor, move heaven and earth, but find this movie

Pellicola molto bella, nulla di eccezionale ma comunque guardabile, ci sono degli errori come il fatto che quando La Plante e Giovanni stanno guidando nel traffico stop e via, l'auto in cui si trovano non si muove. Tutte le macchine intorno si muovono lentamente e si muovono all'indietro durante l'intera conversazione, quindi molto bella e molto bella per me come valutazione è 7,5.

Its really a bad trailer that doesn't do the film justice. This is probably why the film didn't do well financially. The trailer will either make or break your film. To advertise such a great film as a cheap comedy is the nail in the coffin, then to just basically show the entire film in a 2 minute span makes it even worse. I hope the marketing director got fired for this.

This movie was made during the Guber-Peters regime of Columbia, where after Sony bought them, they bought out Guber and Peters’s producing contract with Warner Bros. for hundreds of millions of dollars and installed them as the new studio heads and they basically went on a four-year spending spree making movies with big stars and directors. The marketing people at the studio then thought the stars would sell themselves but so many movies from them during this period either flopped or underperformed that eventually Peters left (around the time this movie came out) and Guber followed suit two years later. It was a lesson in mismanagement but at the same time, movies like this one, A League of Their Own, Honeymoon in Vegas, The Age of Innocence, Philadelphia, The Prince of Tides, and a handful of others are still remembered fondly long after the dust has settled (Even some of the underperformers like Hook and Last Action Hero have become cult favorites). I’ve always found this one to be a true gem and actually appreciate it more as an adult than I did when I was a kid. For more info on this period, there is a book about it called Hit & Run which tells the story in detail.
