- Here's a cheap and easy way to make a pinhole camera using a single sheet of poster board. This is great for if you need to make a few or lots of them cheaply, great for a kids activity.

Great video, I especially liked the duct tape version but understand the issues with making a job lots of 50 of them 😊
Yeah, it's surprising how much duct tape it takes to cover one. You'd think that a big role of duct tape would easily cover 50 of them but after finding out how much it takes to cover one, I calculated that a 60 yard/50 meter role would cover only 12 of these pinhole cameras.
Fascinating, took me on a mental journey back to when ancient people first noticed this in caves and, later, in homes or tents.
I remember making these quite a while ago, but the thing I did different was having the back plate mate out of tissue, so I could see the image from the outside. I wasn't aware of the method you use and I think it is really cool.
Right back at you! Cool, seeing the image from outside using tissue.
I know why it is so, but it is fascinating that the image is upside down when viewed. That opens up other lessons.

Thanks. Yup, I was going to put an explanation in this video but it just didn't fit the topic, especially since there's more to talk about, like why the focusing works. I think I will do an explanatory video.
I made a pinhole lens for my DSLR, I had the same quality image that you got from your box camera.
It was interesting mixing 21st century technology with 18th century technology and seeing the result.
Cool. It's very tempting to continue from here, adding a 3D printed adjustable iris for the aperture, a lens, a way of recording the image (chemical or electronic),... There's just so much fun to be had here.
I watched a documentary last night tvo.org/video/documentaries/the-man-who-shot-tutankhamun about the fellow who took pictures when the Tutankhamun's tomb was being excavated and he shot on large glass plates. They said that the resolution he got is still unmatched with digital today. Makes sense. I remember 8mm film having very poor resolution, then think of 35mm and 72mm, but his looked to be around 250mm!

do you have an opinion of brands for resistors? radio shack seems to be the best. i like the carbon because its has thick leads. the metal film has thinner leads.

Ah, you mean the 18" one. Yeah, having a long one like that sure comes in handy. I should buy a 36" one sometime (with metric on one side). I occasionally haul out my 24" metal square.

I don't think I ever pulsed the high K dielectric ones.

Not for the theories I was going on (well, rough theories). That is unless the pulse for the purpose of building up a higher voltage in a capacitor first.
can i use a 1/8 watt resistor for a 1/4 watt supply by putting 2 together? can i combine the watt ratings of resistors?

what size is the hole for a bread board? is it 18 to 24 gauge? can a 1/2 watt resistor fit in it. i seem to remember that it would not.
Can we use the salt printing technique with this one. Or the light isn't enough to print anything on the paper?
I've never tried taking any kind of photograph so I don't know. You'd certainly get more light using a lens. With pinhole cameras, you need a small hole to get a sharp image but that means you get less light. But I think I recall seeing videos of some people taking pictures using pinhole cameras so some form of printing technique must work. Keep looking and good luck.

How can it record the image
I haven't looked into detail on that. I guess you'd need to somehow put photographic film where the image forms in the back of the box and only expose it to the light for a short time (a piece of tape which you pull back and then cover the hole with again would do. Then you'd need to open the box again only once you're in a darkroom to remove the film and put it in an enclosing box.
I MADE A REAL ONE! WITH Real FILM! do you know what real film is? it was 126 cartridge. remember the old kodak 126 cameras? it basically a 35mm but in a cartridge.

Please sir, would you make a video on doing an effective all carbon battery or idk, some effective kind of hemp battery please? I love u videos and i think that would be nice if smart people like u did make a diy cost effective battery for home grid alternatives. Carbon batteries with solid eletrolyte (glass or somethin) would be nice. But first a small battery to serve as an exemple or proof of concept
