Project Discovery is the process of identifying what your project needs to be about. Dr Elliot Bendoly's new book is called Mastering Project Discovery - geni.us/AshB so, I took the opportunity to learn more about the topic from Ellliot.

Thank you - yes, that makes a lot of sense to me, although I have no direct experience in construction project management and the built environment. But there seems to me to be a lot of work for an architect to do between getting a brief and determining the right solution to meet it. So, whilst the IT-based process Elliot describes may not be optimal for architects, it seems likely that a lot of the ideas and principles will translate well.
@@Onlinepmcourses Interesting to hear a comment here, early in your discussion that seems to be shared - that a lot of projects fail, very early on, by skipping over the design stages. Yet, people push on trying hard to make things work, regardless without going back to the and 'discovery' stage - I really like that word!
@@jamesdecross1035 In my training, I refer to this using the metaphor of building. If you do not take the time to get the groundwork and foundations right, the building will never be strong, no matter how elegant and well-designed it is, and how carefully it is constructed. I hope that is a sound analogy.

Your experience, Mike, is people rush through discovery? Mine is if you blink you miss it entirely! 🤣 Great video and excellent guest.
Thank you, Stuart.
This is a basis of design-management, I'm sure. What architects and others do.
