I still like it. No one ever complains about it when it’s brought out. Thought about replacing it with Kokoro for its smaller size and less fiddly set up but Karuba is just more fun in the end.
This was fine for playing with my boys when they were young & thick. Seen as they aren't 5 anymore & require interaction, we don't play it anymore. Its dry & boring solitaire. Do appreciate you finding something positive to say about it though.
Yep, love Karuba. I do prefer more interaction and I tend to cover my board so there's none of that BS with watching and waiting to see where I put my tile.
The "expansion" The Volcano helps with the player copying problem. The expansion is just 4 tiles that you can print at home. But you can also just use 4 pieces from some other game. But personally I agree with you that telling the person to not be a dick is the real solution.
Thanks BGB, it's always good to have entry level games to teach people. Do you know of any easy area control games about the same size as this that could eventually put people onto the path of Scythe or Root etc. With Deck builders I start people of with Dungeon Mayhem followed by Star Realms. For Dungeon Crawlers I'd probably start with Karak and Co-Ops - Forbidden Island etc. Etc. But I can't find an area control game.
With Christmas coming up this looks like a good game to buy a close family member so I get to play it too. You mentioned Carcassonne and that was our first "none main stream" game which got us into the wider world of better board games. We managed to get 3 Carcassonne expansions in lock down which got us through Covid. But Carcassonne NEVER appears on any top 100 style board game lists. Is it because it's spawned loads of new games like Karuba and Isle of Skye, and it's therefore no longer considered relevant as a game in its own right?!? Or do you think it's a) the 101st best board game or b) shit?
Tsuro works at 6...what are your thoughts on it - or my first Carcassone. Kuruba can be fine - do you house rule any one the other bits besides stuffing your children up the exaust pipe?
@@BoardGameBollocks no no - you said you like to eject players who take too long to play - from the room. Bring on the other house rules you like to implement 😇
Any game that features big purple columns can’t be all bad. Seems harmless enough but not exciting especially with zero interaction. Still, only another 1500 subs needed for 20K, by Christmas and then you will be dishing out BIG CASH PRIZES, right?
You are becoming my favorite go to channel!! Honest and hype free. Thanks! Keep it up!
👍🏻

All the way at the back here, love Karuba, duality and pet wasps in one review. Well done sir.
Love Karuba! Every time ive taught this the group asks to play it again right after which says a lot😊

This was quite decent bollocks.
Great review with some good points!
My family's #1 game. I'm the only one that likes the volcano expansion and bonus points tiles
Was tile nr3 a test, if viewers will notice incorrectly placed tile?
I threw the game together for the review…didn’t expect Sherlock holmes to be watching

Maybe Eight Minute Empire or Rattus

I like tsuro quite a bit. No house rules here

Ok I’ll do a my first give away when we reach 20k subs…got plenty of crap titles that I can’t sell on eBay.
It has press-your-luck, by players sacrificing speed for collecting stuff. Good game, not amazing (like Hooky. I'm getting the word out on that one.)
Karuba is fine but for a "4 player solo" game I think Railroad Ink steals this game's lunch money and gives it a wedgie.
