I've had this teddy bear since the day I was born, and I named him Teddy. To this day, I still sleep with him without being embarrassed at all. He's helped me through such terrible times even though he's not a living thing.
My roommate is 38 and autistic and still carries his favorite stuffed animals everywhere he goes, even in public. Though is family gets very embarrassed about it and won't let him bring his animals along, I have always supported him. I buy him new ones all the time, including a Bugs Bunny just recently. He visits his sister who is also his conservator once a month on weekends. He's so used to his sister telling him to leave his animals at home when they go places, that when he and I go out somewhere, he always asks me, "Can they come along too?" I say, "Of course they can come along! I like having them with us." The administrator of our board and care home keeps telling him that he can't get any more stuffed animals, but I tell him that the administrator can't make a rule like that, and he can have as many animals as he wants. I also know the names of all his stuffed animals. Sure, there are bullies out there who make mean comments to him for carrying around his stuffed animals, but I always stick up for him. He's given me quite a few stuffed animals too, and even though I don't carry them with me, I still like them for decoration.
I know It’s been four years later lol but really job that you accepted your roommate’s weirdness. I’m collecting plushies too, but I really hope for myself who will accept me as who really I am, a huge challenge to find an acceptable person. I hope you’re continue supporting your roommate’s himself

They will always be special to you, just like you are special to them. Keep them close to you always! Yeah, it's been 4 years since I made that comment... Seems like an eternity ago. I eventually moved out of that board and care home when I had back surgery for a herniated disc. But Louie always came to visit me in the nursing home while i was getting therapy and recuperating. Now I'm in independent living, and my health is much better. I often visit Louie and some other friends at the board and care home. Unfortunately, Louie died last August. He had Ulcerative Colitis which caused Toxic Megacolon, then it erupted and he died of Sepsis. I was so shocked and I cried for weeks because he was like a little brother to me. He just had his 43rd birthday the month before. I miss him and his plushies so much. It pains me to know that nobody else cared about him the way I did. Nobody respected him or understood him like I did. I also cry about the fact that I know that all his plushies ended up in a dumpster. Sprinkles, Thumper, Marshmallow, Bugs Bunny, Precious, Pinky, Clover, Limòn, Snowey, Cutie Pie, and so many others... I miss all of them so much. What I would give if I could only have another wonderful friend like him who loved plushies as much as both he and I do who could be a little brother or sister to me.
Felix I agree with all you say there. I have a rabbit named thumper. it's 15 inches tall. I've had it since a child I'm 19 and still travel with it because I feel it helps me when I'm stressed or angry. Or to deal with fears. Quite recently I've got over the fears of elevators I hated them as a kid but now I'm a adult I've got over it thanks to the rabbit. But my school are being so negative about me having it in school and trying to get me to take a smaller one to college. But only problem is with that rabbit I've built a friendship with it and I refuse to listen to what the teachers are trying to push me away from my friendship with it.

My grandma's cousin has 5 puppies and one of them is named momo (Whiley died last year it was the worst year of me being 9 to 10 since my birthday is in January...)

I do the same thing. I live with bipolar/depression/anxiety and all of my plushies are fantastic for emotional support. Even during the day it's nice to walk in my bedroom and see numerous smiling faces. I feel more human having them around.

I’m 25 and I can’t sleep at night without at least one stuffed animal next to me and in my arms. At this point, it’s a matter of stuffed animals being items that help me relax and feel better (though I also love them because they’re super cute!). My most precious bear named Sammy has been with me for the past 17 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way without him ❤️

Now I prefer to hug my pillow instead, but I still keep my teddy bear beside me while sleeping. It just feels comforting to me.
A girl that I liked in school moved to Florida without telling me and it really broke my heart so I wanted to find a way to help me get through it and I said to myself "Hey, I still have a teddy bear why don't I use it" So I slept with it for the last 3 nights and it made me so happy. I highly recommend you to never throw away your protective magnet because you'll need it more when you get older.

My INSANE stepmother would come in my room at night to cast death spells on me and hit me with a bat. So I would stack empty cans in front of my door to alert me and I slept with a hunting knife under my pillow. This is true. They took her away to a mental hospital because she was a danger.
I still have a very small portion of my childhood stuffed animal collection. My mom made me get rid of most of them since they would take up more space on the bed than I did.. and there is no way you could leave one out, they all had to be there!

I still have a teddy bear at 17 (not too weird) and I always hug him, imagining it's my future child. I deal with stress, anxiety, and depression, and this bear seems to soothe it all. I got this bear when I was about five, from an old couple who brought the bear with them to a restraunt (I assume it was very important) and gave it to me while I was going to get some napkins for my mother and I. And it went like this " Hello sweetie, I have this friend of mine...would you mind taking care of him for me?" An old woman asked me with a smile on her face, and brought out the bear from a chair next to her. As a youngster I just nodded, saying "mhm." The old man next to her said, " He'd love to be your friend, take care of him please." And they gave me the bear. All I could do was squeak a "Thank you! I promise!" Before waddling back over to my table. The couple had a smile as bright as day
I’m 14 and I’m still attached to my blanket. I love the smell and the feeling and it makes me feel so happy. It also makes me feel better when I’m upset about a bad day at school, or a fight with my parents. I got in a fight with my best friend, my teacher, my brother, and my parents in the same day and my blanket made me feel better.
I have a plush-teddy which I had since i was 5, and a plush-bunny I got for a birthday a few years ago. I still sleep with one of them. Good to cuddle on cold nights. Or just for the comfort. I'm 30 :)
When I was little I had a few favourite stuffed animals, but mostly rotated between all of them every night so they wouldn't feel left out. But everything changed when I found Tina, an old bear that once belonged to my mom! I was six or seven and now I'm eighteen, and I still sleep with her. Tina went everywhere! Church, trips to relatives' houses, the grocery store (where she'd ride in the baby seat of the basket), and she has even been on plane rides to far-off places! Now Tina's going to college with me :)

I’m 13 now and I have tons of teddies. I have my favourite teddy, which is a bear GUND Disney Classic Pooh Bear teddy. I only really let my best, best friends touch him, I panic when people take him from me, even if they just wanna cuddle him. I always look to see where he is. I take him to school, everywhere I go, to bed, literally everywhere. He helps me with stress, sadness, bullying, loud noises, to be friendly and to just be calm. I tell him all my worries and hopes, I also believe he gives me luck. Loads of people make fun of it and others love that I have it, but luckily I completely ignore them. He’s one of my friends this teddy, and I’m not ashamed or embarrassed about it. I hug him loads, and most important of all, he makes me feel safe and happy.

I had this one relatively small bear since birth and a sort of scent has developed on it that I started to notice at the age of 3 or 4. It's as if a physical part of me lives inside this one bear. It's irreplaceable. It's feel cannot be replicated. Since then, I couldn't possibly imagine separating myself from it ever. I'm 17 now and I still love sleeping with at least one teddy bear. So much that I brought a few more.

I had a stuffed dog named Oscar, and poor Oscar had been through hell and back. I took Oscar everywhere I went, and ended up leaving him pretty much everywhere- McDonald's, a yard sale, a Chinese restaurant, and even at the mall 2 hours away from my house, but always ended up getting him back. He had to be sewn up several times, and his fur is a little matted down from years of holding him close to my chest when I slept. But if I had the choice to get a version of Oscar that was brand new, I would still stick to the original. He's been a comforting thing in my life since I got him on Christmas Eve when I was just 2.
Well why not fess up since everyone else is.. Today I was visiting my parents at their home and came across my fluffy stuffed red dog that I haven’t seen in years. I used to sleep with her every night since I was really young until my teen years. She would always be there to hug in times of need and be there to comfort me in my sleep. I am now 19. To be honest I got a little sad when seeing her on the basement floor and not in my bed at home. I got her In 2004 from my mom on valentines day when I was 4 years old. Her name is Love-heart and for now on she’s going to be with me at home 😊

I used to have this really cute smiling zebra with big blue eyes, it would always smile, and it would make my day, whenever I woke up It would be on the dresser, at some unbearable stressful nights, I would cry into my zebra also its name is zebre, it was not male nor female, I loved it until the move, I lost it and my dad says it got thrown away possibly, but I could never loose such a plush, it always comforted me, I still have hope also btw im 12, I got the zebra in a store for I think just shopping, and then I saw it, I couldn't resist, it was very comforting, and after I brought it home I introduced it to my other pushes, before the move I also had a sitting dog named bolt and a penguin named Penny, they all meant so much to me, but zebre was always my favorite, I hope someday to meet that zebra again.

When I was younger, I used to line my stuffed toys too looking at me on my bed as I sleep, but I also take turns hugging one of them everynight!

I'm 12 and there is this one stuffed animal of mine that when I go on vacation/Holliday, camping, or simply to a family members house to stay the night I always bring him to feels safer away from home

I sleep with him next to my bed but if I'm sick or emotional I have him in bed with me.
Yeah i still sleep with a stuffed animal, all my friends do too. When we found out that we all had one we no longer feel weird about having it.
I lost my blankey when I was like 7 and my mom got me an identical one but I didn’t feel right. I later found it and I still sleep with it till this day 😴😃

I do the same thing. I live with bipolar/depression/anxiety and all of my plushies are fantastic for emotional support. Even during the day it's nice to walk in my bedroom and see numerous smiling faces. I feel more human having them around.
When I was born I was wrapped in a baby blanket. I still sleep with that same blanket. I've had it for so long, it looks like a baby tried to tie a bunch of dirty strings together, but I still love it.

I’m 25 and I can’t sleep at night without at least one stuffed animal next to me and in my arms. At this point, it’s a matter of stuffed animals being items that help me relax and feel better (though I also love them because they’re super cute!). My most precious bear named Sammy has been with me for the past 17 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way without him ❤️

I still sleep with a teddy bear and I'm 21, haha! Though it's not my childhood teddy, just one that I bought a few years back. I use to like hugging while sleeping but I stopped at some point. Now I prefer to hug my pillow instead, but I still keep my teddy bear beside me while sleeping. It just feels comforting to me.

A girl that I liked in school moved to Florida without telling me and it really broke my heart so I wanted to find a way to help me get through it and I said to myself "Hey, I still have a teddy bear why don't I use it" So I slept with it for the last 3 nights and it made me so happy. I highly recommend you to never throw away your protective magnet because you'll need it more when you get older.

Won a stuffed animal at a claw machine when I was 8, and has been with me for the past 20 years.
I still have a teddy bear at 17 (not too weird) and I always hug him, imagining it's my future child. I deal with stress, anxiety, and depression, and this bear seems to soothe it all. I got this bear when I was about five, from an old couple who brought the bear with them to a restraunt (I assume it was very important) and gave it to me while I was going to get some napkins for my mother and I. And it went like this " Hello sweetie, I have this friend of mine...would you mind taking care of him for me?" An old woman asked me with a smile on her face, and brought out the bear from a chair next to her. As a youngster I just nodded, saying "mhm." The old man next to her said, " He'd love to be your friend, take care of him please." And they gave me the bear. All I could do was squeak a "Thank you! I promise!" Before waddling back over to my table. The couple had a smile as bright as day

I’m 14 and I’m still attached to my blanket. I love the smell and the feeling and it makes me feel so happy. It also makes me feel better when I’m upset about a bad day at school, or a fight with my parents. I got in a fight with my best friend, my teacher, my brother, and my parents in the same day and my blanket made me feel better.
I have a plush-teddy which I had since i was 5, and a plush-bunny I got for a birthday a few years ago. I still sleep with one of them. Good to cuddle on cold nights. Or just for the comfort. I'm 30 :)

When I was little I had a few favourite stuffed animals, but mostly rotated between all of them every night so they wouldn't feel left out. But everything changed when I found Tina, an old bear that once belonged to my mom! I was six or seven and now I'm eighteen, and I still sleep with her. Tina went everywhere! Church, trips to relatives' houses, the grocery store (where she'd ride in the baby seat of the basket), and she has even been on plane rides to far-off places! Now Tina's going to college with me :)

I’m 13 now and I have tons of teddies. I have my favourite teddy, which is a bear GUND Disney Classic Pooh Bear teddy. I only really let my best, best friends touch him, I panic when people take him from me, even if they just wanna cuddle him. I always look to see where he is. I take him to school, everywhere I go, to bed, literally everywhere. He helps me with stress, sadness, bullying, loud noises, to be friendly and to just be calm. I tell him all my worries and hopes, I also believe he gives me luck. Loads of people make fun of it and others love that I have it, but luckily I completely ignore them. He’s one of my friends this teddy, and I’m not ashamed or embarrassed about it. I hug him loads, and most important of all, he makes me feel safe and happy.

I had this one relatively small bear since birth and a sort of scent has developed on it that I started to notice at the age of 3 or 4. It's as if a physical part of me lives inside this one bear. It's irreplaceable. It's feel cannot be replicated. Since then, I couldn't possibly imagine separating myself from it ever. I'm 17 now and I still love sleeping with at least one teddy bear. So much that I brought a few more.

I had a stuffed dog named Oscar, and poor Oscar had been through hell and back. I took Oscar everywhere I went, and ended up leaving him pretty much everywhere- McDonald's, a yard sale, a Chinese restaurant, and even at the mall 2 hours away from my house, but always ended up getting him back. He had to be sewn up several times, and his fur is a little matted down from years of holding him close to my chest when I slept. But if I had the choice to get a version of Oscar that was brand new, I would still stick to the original. He's been a comforting thing in my life since I got him on Christmas Eve when I was just 2.

Today I was visiting my parents at their home and came across my fluffy stuffed red dog that I haven’t seen in years. I used to sleep with her every night since I was really young until my teen years. She would always be there to hug in times of need and be there to comfort me in my sleep. I am now 19. To be honest I got a little sad when seeing her on the basement floor and not in my bed at home. I got her In 2004 from my mom on valentines day when I was 4 years old. Her name is Love-heart and for now on she’s going to be with me at home 😊

I used to have this really cute smiling zebra with big blue eyes, it would always smile, and it would make my day, whenever I woke up It would be on the dresser, at some unbearable stressful nights, I would cry into my zebra also its name is zebre, it was not male nor female, I loved it until the move, I lost it and my dad says it got thrown away possibly, but I could never loose such a plush, it always comforted me, I still have hope also btw im 12, I got the zebra in a store for I think just shopping, and then I saw it, I couldn't resist, it was very comforting, and after I brought it home I introduced it to my other pushes, before the move I also had a sitting dog named bolt and a penguin named Penny, they all meant so much to me, but zebre was always my favorite, I hope someday to meet that zebra again.
